In my view, the primary focus should be on encouraging the writers to write. I do not review items I don't enjoy anymore because I see it as a waste of my time. So, if you get a review from me, I enjoyed reading your work. The amazing thing about this whole process is that reading an inspiring review usually leads to me reading more of a reviewer's work also. So, it's a win-win.

I will not review...
something I do not like. I do not enjoy writing hyper-critical reviews. I do NOT believe that "honesty" is a synonym for "mean." If I see someone being "mean" here on the public reviewing page, in group behaviors, or just acting as a bully I will not send them my reviews. The only exception to that would be judging a site contest - there all items get honest (and hopefully diplomatic) reviews of the work from me with no exceptions.

I think that people can surprise us in not so good ways. Well, we all must be careful, especially a celebrity like him and people in general on the internet. I have had people I thought were nice write mean things after thinking I knew them for a long time. It comes as a shock. The thing to remember is that the Internet is not real life. Sometimes, it is hard to separate the two, though.

*Cool**Idea* You did a good job with this. Knowledge is always power. I think Harry feels confident because he knows he has the brain power to figure things out if he doesn't let fear and emotions get in the way. That is what slips up the others, getting caught up in the fears.

*Cool**Idea* I wasn't sure if this was a prompt. Well, they are the great ones, aren't they?

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I love Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. With Mary Tyler Moore, I have always felt a connection. I will tell you some of why. I used to work with two women and the three of us became friends. One of them said she was Rhoda, the other was Phyllis and I was Mary and they were always fighting about me. I thought that was funny.

The other thing had to do with my late niece. She was in the military, deployed in the war on terror overseas in 2003-4. They did a special about women on Lifetime Channel hosted by Naomi Judd. The theme of the show was Women Changing the World. A letter from my niece's daughter was chosen and she appeared to read the letter and my niece was on the broadcast (live) to surprise her daughter via Satellite from where she was stationed. Her daughter read the letter to her and it was very touching. My niece was the chosen representative of women in the military. My mom was still alive then and we watched that tape over and over again.

Well, Naomi Judd had Mary Tyler Moore on stage with her to do the presentation of my niece's daughter (Brought out by her father). Mary said "Hi Tracy" and "Thank you for your service" to my niece. This was much happier times, obviously.

Well, Mary Tyler Moore seemed so kind and genuine to my niece who was a bit nervous. Now, we are 13 years later and I still have that video of my niece interacting with Naomi Judd and Mary Tyler Moore. It is a lovely memory for me. Mary Tyler Moore (according to my niece's daughter and husband at that time) was as kind and sweet as she could be backstage, as well as on stage. That memory came back to me when I saw your post. Mary was a lovely, genuine person.

Now she and my niece are both at peace. God Bless them both and the others you mentioned, also.

*Cool**Idea* I bet it was easier with the lion because they are warm blooded. Those others are not. Well, I Like alligators, but I respect them because they have survived from prehistoric dinosaur times. I definitely give them their space.

I thought that spraying the squid was clever. You can't reason with a squid. I used to have a co-worker who had Squid as a nickname. He was very stubborn and never saw anything beyond his nose. Well, they can't be convinced of anything so spraying the pepper spray stuff was a good idea.

*Cow* I gave the prompt in The Writer's Cramp earlier in the week, but I was not the judge. I was interested in reading the various entries and seeing what you writers would do with my prompt. Congratulations on your win yesterday!

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* You took the prompt in the direction of current events that are so horrible and sad. You took Hemingway's quote about the 1920's and applied it to the worst loss I can imagine - when a parent loses a child or someone they have raised from a child. Very creative and original. Hemingway was talking about being surprised he felt sad in the spring, so in a way that goes well with this. It is fascinating to see the different directions this prompt ended up.

People sent their kids off to an enjoyable event only to be confronted with the horror of the modern world. The loss is beyond imagining and I know what sudden violent loss is like. But, this, to be slain in such a way, I don't know what to make of the world anymore. No wonder our leaders prey upon the fears of the masses. But who knows what the answer is. To a grieving parent, there is no answer.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

This part really stuck with me:

"Anger does not sooth the hurt.
Time will not heal the heart’s wound.
There is no understanding …
only mindless darkness."

I think that is true for a long time after anything happens like this. Then, there is the knee jerk reaction in different directions and we wait for the next horror to unfold.

*Cool**Idea* I like and admire the action of choosing to be happy. I think it is a definite choice when anyone in the world attempts to bring us down. Sometimes, it is easier than others.

Your rhyme is good and your poem flows very well. The words are well chosen and you convey a clear message for your reader, this reader anyway.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

This was my favorite part:

"I can no longer live with despair,
I can taste your fear in the air,
Please, for give my self-preservation,
Leaving you is my sanity's salvation."

Sometimes, we have to take an active role in choosing the positive life. I always like it when people write about taking charge of situations that are spiraling out of control, like relationships. That is a hard thing to do, but sometimes a necessary thing for survival.

*Cow* I gave the prompt earlier in the week in The Writer's Cramp. I was not the judge, but I was interested to read what you writers would do and the different takes on my prompt. You have taken it in an original and clever direction.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* Well, that gossip world is Dog Eat Dog. You have to be on your toes to make things up. The libel laws are such that they don't need the facts much anymore. I read one day Brad Pitt is dating this one and that one. The next day he is a sculptor and getting back with Jolie. Then she is marrying a millionaire from somewhere. It's all made-up nonsense.

Your quirky and engaging story bridges the gap between the gossip of the past (Hedda) and that of the Internet, futuristic type (Paris) who becomes a victim of her own lies.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

This was my favorite passage:

"Are you sure you want to be in the gossip game? You cite anonymous sources and let the chips fall where they will."

And you make up stuff. You then say it was a protected anonymous source. I think it has spread to what used to be news where they checked things before reporting them.

*Cool**Idea* I think you capture the horror of medical care and treatment very effectively. It is a scary thing and it is very difficult to watch a loved one go through it. I think that is harder than actually being the patient, but I haven't been down that road yet so I'm not certain of it.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I admire the notion that death can be a release if people are prepared for it. The medical community uses the fear of death to manipulate a lot of money into their pockets at times. Well, hospitals are big businesses, after all really. Corporate greed is paramount over patient care in the big settings throughout the land.

To celebrate life and make another choice (besides sadness) is something wondrous and beautiful at the end of a well lived life.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I love your poem and how you put a positive spin on it. The origin of the quote refers to the fact that Hemingway was feeling sad in the springtime when he didn't expect to like he normally did in the fall.

This is beautiful and haunting at the same time. All your words are well chosen and fit perfectly with the prompt and with finding ways to drive away the sadness as we go along.

Well, we can all choose to be happy at times. I think it is sometimes a choice, not always, but sometimes.

People have told me that nothing I do here is right. Well, I think it is and I'm the one who is doing the work so they can mind their business. I even got criticism about this prompt. Well, I've seen everything now as this prompt got thirteen people to write. Do your own thing and always write what you feel. That's the best advice I have ever given or received when it comes to writing.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I thought about how a lot of things were better way back then. It seems like a much better way to go, to have it all be a surprise, even that there were two. Your poem flows well and I liked going back in time when things were simpler and in some ways more straightforward.

One thing to mention is that you need to have a line count in the contest forum for poems and a word count if you write a story.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

"In those days medicine was differently made.
No way of knowing the sex of the unborn babe."

That is for the reasons I stated - simpler time with no cell phones.

*Cool**Idea* I had not heard of this before. He gets right to the point, doesn't he. I like the idea of it all slowing down.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I suppose in this world he lived in, things happen so quick because people feel as if they knew him. We knew him through his music. But maybe he would have had a longer and happier life if he would have taken it slower. It is sad to think of him gone. I thought my childhood died that day in April. I felt that in a way I didn't for anyone else who has passed on.

It seems like a lot of them have gone on. If we get to heaven, we know there will be beautiful music, don't we? With Prince, I have a vision of him on a bike riding through his town. It was a few days before he died and he looked so carefree and happy. I felt that he was and is riding through heaven on that bike, singing. Nice to think so, anyway.

*Cool**Idea* As Joy said in the comments part, you sound very fashionable! I like the purple color for things too. You are much more put together than I am with the accessories!

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

*Thumbsup* I wear capris, also! I get the nice ones at Kohl's. For purses, yours sound interesting. I am totally into Vera Bradley Turn Lock Satchel purse. They are so light weight. I get them on sale when the patterns are discontinued.

Like you, I cannot wear heels. Because of my back and hip, I don't want to fall so I wear the Sperry Topsider shoes a lot. I have heard a lot of people like those Sketchers though. I will check them out, also.

*Cool**Idea* I think there is a lot of suspense and action so you did a fine job with that. I was worried for Harry's safety there with the choking going on.

*Thumbsup* I especially liked how the silver doe saved the day by being so quick. Animals can tell when good humans are in danger and going the extra mile to save Harry was very magical and nice.

*Cool**Idea*This is another one that I didn't know about. The only Dawn song I knew of was the 4 Seasons song in the 1960's. But that was "Dawn" and not "The Dawn"

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I like your assertion that each new day is an opportunity to move forward. Well, time is our friend and our enemy. Interesting that he wrote a song called this as I think he might have died at Dawn. Well, maybe it is a premonition like his Snows in April song. He had a feeling or something.

Well, he wrote a lot of fine lyrics in his short life. We can all celebrate his genius by learning about the songs we didn't realize were out there.

*Cow* I am reading in your Prince Writing Challenge Songs Journal and sending a review.

What Does hooves think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I had never heard of this song or a lot of the other songs either. I think some of his best work is in the stuff that was never a hit. I think that unrequited love is one of the best motivators for writing or music.

Whoever she was, she inspired him here, didn't she?

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

Like, you I wish that Prince would have had his dreams come true more. I think he wrote a lot out of frustration with things. Someone in his position would have had a hard time having a normal relationship. There are so many people who hang on someone like that and it is hard to tell who is genuine. Well, he didn't have good people around him at the end or he'd still be here.

Maybe in heaven, he is with his dream love. I hope so and that it is all music and things nice for him.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I like how you chose this title and what you did with the essay. You have named some great and memorable romances in books and films.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

Romance is something that appeals to most of us in our reading and watching, I think. I like the romantic comedies the best as I never had a romance where there wasn't a sense of humor on the other side.

I love the humor in Jane Austen's writing as it is so subtle at times. She was an astute observer of the human condition.

I was thinking of my favorite romance movie. I sort of think it is While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock. But those you named were good, too. I love the romance between the Captain and Maria in Sound of Music.

And you are right about Danielle Steel. When I want to read a quality romance work that has me caring about the characters right from the start, it is Danielle Steel who I turn to as a reliable storyteller. The last book I bought for my mom was Toxic Bachelor by Danielle Steel. She was very happy as she enjoyed her writing a lot. I used to get her a Danielle Steel book for every mother's day, birthday and Christmas as she is such a reliable writer and producer of books to buy.

*Cool**Idea* I thought about Harry Potter and these prompts. I read the first book and saw the first movie last year. I am no expert. I think your adventure is in line with what I read in the book. I think you did a good job with the character of Harry, who always seems to be planning the next adventure.

I enjoyed reading this and all the intrigue involved. My grandson, Ben, told me to read Harry Potter and so I did. It is, to me, mostly about characters and the one of Harry, who was bullied for most of his years growing up. I think that what you have written is in line with him always wanting to help others and never being selfish about things.

*Cow* I saw that you had updated in your Blog City Journal and came to read and send a review!

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I think that you are remarkable in having beaten the odds in so many ways.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

Your medical thing is like Mr. HOOves had. They told him and me that he had a 15% chance of seeing the next day. Well he saw it and more and is still here more than five years later. He, too, was on a breathing tube. They didn't bring him around from Tuesday night until Sunday evening.

I think when people go through something like it, it puts a lot of other stuff in perspective. We always think about that time and this past October was the 5th anniversary so Mr. HOOves ordered big THank You cakes and we took them to the doctors who saved his life. The V.A. doctors who almost killed him are another story, but our local medical people really went the extra mile to make sure he is here to see his grandchildren grow and to play golf and do what he enjoys.

That is such a blessing that we are so grateful for every day, as I know you are.

I bet, once you retire, a lot more things will come true for you. *Heart*

*Cool**Idea* I think it is about the magic of childhood and what can be seen if we only pay attention to that beauty which surrounds us.

This was my favorite part:

Whistling birds, singing flowers, and buzzing bees."

Sometimes with rushing around we forget to look at all of these wonders and comforts that are everywhere on a Spring day. Children see things that we adults forget about, but would be much better off if we could share in the wonder.

*Cool**Idea* There is a lot of chasing going on. I hope Crookshanks is careful about chasing those squirrels. I do not think they make a tasty morsel.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

The dog seems to be right there in the action. Sirius seems like a willing participant in chasing the rodents and keeping up with Crookshanks. When it comes to a dog and a cat, I am not sure who would be in charge. I suspect it would be the cat, though.

I guess it all depends on if the dog is hyper or easygoing like my Boo.
