In my view, the primary focus should be on encouraging the writers to write. I do not review items I don't enjoy anymore because I see it as a waste of my time. So, if you get a review from me, I enjoyed reading your work. The amazing thing about this whole process is that reading an inspiring review usually leads to me reading more of a reviewer's work also. So, it's a win-win.

something I do not like. I do not enjoy writing hyper-critical reviews. I do NOT believe that "honesty" is a synonym for "mean." If I see someone being "mean" here on the public reviewing page, in group behaviors, or just acting as a bully I will not send them my reviews. The only exception to that would be judging a site contest - there all items get honest (and hopefully diplomatic) reviews of the work from me with no exceptions.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I think it would be interesting to go back in time, knowing what we know now. Would we really change things? I am not sure that I would have the insight to do that wisely.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I am not sure what the unicorn means either. Spirits do watch over us. I feel like they do. Sometimes, I feel like I don't know what to do or how to handle something. I say my usual prayer for the day and then something comes to me on how to handle it. I had my aunt named Catherine. I feel her presence and my parents watching me and guiding me sometimes.

I have felt very sad lately. I don't know whether it is aging or what. I feel sort of lost. Maybe it is just a reaction to dopey medicine. Who knows. I am at the mercy of medical professionals who don't have a clue I guess. They contradict each other.

Follow your heart is the best advice I know of.

*Cool**Idea* I wasn't thinking about Flag Day so it's good that you reminded me. The Star Spangled Banner was written by a Marylander, which is something we are really proud of in my home state. There is a lot of stuff about Francis Scott Key in Baltimre and of course he is a relative of F. Scott Fitzgerald (who is buried in Rockville, Maryland) so there is a big connection all the way there.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

*Thumbsup* I like thinking about the Flags and what they represent. This is an excellent reminder. The song has been suggested to replace the Star Spangled Banner is Who'll Stop the Rain, but I think we will probably stick with what has worked for all these years. Maryland would really be bummed if they change it now, even though it is hard to sing it.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I like the premise of the boyfriend (who has left) being the one who wrote the date on the calendar. This opens the door (or kicks it open, more like) for a lot of intrigue and spy master run arounds.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I like the fast paced nature of the action and the amount of sadness over the boyfriend being gay being more than the sadness over his demise. That sounds just like humans to me. Suzanne was a pretty astute observer and judge of character.

This is a good story that seems like it could evolve into a longer piece of writing. You did a super job with the prompt, as always.

*Cow* I am reading in your Travel Around the World Book and now you are focused on Albania.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea*This is interesting because someone writing for The Writer's Cramp today wrote about Albania right before World War II. Maybe he is trying to kill two birds with one story there.

I feel like Albania had a smart leader in a tough time. It seems like a nice, principled country. I wouldn't mind going there, as you indicate, if it is part of a larger trip.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I like that you are open to exploring new places. The animals there sound nice. I bet the people are smart and forward thinking. Well, with nice animals they are definitely some place to check out in your itinerary. I wonder if any of the folks writing about Albania have actually been there?

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I am with you on that whale. I think that it was in the Smithsonian in D.C. I am quite sure of that, in the one that is called the Natural History Museum and it also has dinosaurs. I remember seeing the blue whale as a kid.

I wonder what they do to clean it. I imagine it is preserved in something and they just wipe it down, but they would have to get high up to do it. Some of that stuff is preserved in glass cases and I am surprised that isn't.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

This made me wonder if they got another one or moved the one in Washington, D.C. to New York. I wonder why that would happen. But I know in the Smithsonian I saw a Blue Whale and that is probably where you remember it too. It was in the late 60's or early 70's that I must have seen it. I go to the National Gallery of Art mostly now, but I used to go to all those museums down there on The Mall when I was growing up.

*Cool**Idea* Enjoying the journey is the thing. I try to do relaxation things when I feel rushed. Taking deep breaths and that sort of thing.

I think that life goes by so fast and there is so much to be enjoyed. Every day that we have that is healthy is such a gift. It is up to us how to manage it. It sounds like you are doing just fine and making the most of every moment. I sometimes think of how ill I was this time last year and I say to myself that nothing is so bad really. It's just time to take a deep breath and find things that are good.

*Cow* I gave the prompt in "The Writer's Cramp"  earlier in the week. I was not the judge, but I was curious to see what you writers would do with my prompt.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

Well, I love your title, first of all. The prompt was based on a real experience and I still feel a bit of the pain.

I like the premise of making it worse by not paying attention. They gave me that mask and had me sit there for 45 minutes waiting for the doctor. Then, the tests weren't pleasant either.

Tests are never pleasant at all and the technicians are rarely careful with damaged limbs. Then, you are spot-on in the assertion that communication between the doctor and staff/technicians is often wanting.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I like how in the end the doctor tosses of a nice saying as he pats the sore ankle. Really, that sums up the level of care that I've seen lately. Some doctors, specifically surgeons, though, have done great things. I don't think they are in the same category with GP's and ER hacks.

*Cool**Idea* I believe in things beyond what we can see, also. Compassion is a wonderful thing, but it's hard to find. I have to work on controlling my temper in my little peace of the world. But, kindness and compassion are big on my lists for praying for the strength to forgive.

The ghost thing is something that I think exists, also. I think we have premonitions about stuff that ghosts tell us sometimes. How did you like the Pirate movie? I hear it is really good.

Well, we have faith and that is a good thing. I know, personally, I can do much better than I have if I control my temper at times and look the other way.

*Cow* I am visiting you as you sent me a very nice review. So, here I am moseying over on a Thursday.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* It is interesting how important religion seemed at one time. My family on my Dad's side was ten kids. Grandma was Catholic and Grandpa was Episcopal. They split it with five kids Catholic and five Episcopal. My Dad was the latter.

My mother's family were farmers and their religion was the land. She went along with the Episcopal stuff.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

Mr. HOOves also went to Catholic School until high school. He went to Holy Ghost in Houston. His father had to convert to Catholicism in order to marry his mother. I guess you know about the nuns. They used to hit them with rulers. When we went to the reunion, the school wouldn't let his class have it at the school because they were too bad as kids. We ended up at a biker bar in Sugarland Texas. Some of the teachers (Not many) were still alive and came to see the bad class. *Laugh*

Languages would have come in handy. I don't know why U.S. schools don't stress languages more than they do since the country is so multi-cultural. I think Catholic schools give out better educations than public schools. I didn't learn much in public school. I learned most of what I know after high school.

Very interesting to learn about your family working out the details of where to go and what to learn! *Heart*

*Cow* I am visiting your portfolio - you sent me a very nice review for an article. I came across this lovely photograph and thought I would send a review.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* This reminds me of January in Kiawa Island South Carolina. I can feel the wind blow as I look at it. You have beautifully captured the changing of the year for me and the blowing in of Winter at the shore.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

This would make a lovely cover for a book. I always think that Dorothea Benton Frank (who writes about SC in the summer) should write a book set in the Winter time at the Carolina beaches she deals with. I am not sure what you did to manipulate it, but it is so lovely with the wavey lines and in black and white.

I love birds and seeing how they adapt to their surroundings. I think that humans can learn a lot from bird behavior.

*Cow* I am reading from the link you put in your Around the World Book. This is a link to a still relevant Newsletter that you and a friend wrote a while back. It is still very informative with good information.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

The picture I have of Transylvania with the cows grazing looks very nice. I think my niece liked it there and thought the people were friendly. Sometimes, like when she was in Greece, there were demonstrations against Americans. That was scary, but I think Romania was nice.

Do you remember the Opal Twins story called Draculas Decorator about Dracula meeting Martha Stewart and her taking over the castle? It was a very funny story if you remember it. This reminded me of that somehow.

I think it would be an interesting place to visit if our country was more on good terms with Russia. Well, maybe we will get there eventually.

*Cool**Idea*Maria souns like a very interesting person. And she was a nurse, also. That is cool. She probably got along so well because she learned and respected the customs of the people. I think smart leaders do that when they even visit other countries.

I was interested that she stepped down for her grandson. Well, she is probably related somehow to Queen Elizabeth. I bet she (at 91 now) would step down for William. Not for CHarles though. Can you blame her. Well, I can't. I think she is pretty smart and the royal family is smart, mostly. Except for Charles. I don't know what happened there.

Nice visit to Romania in the 1920's time. One of my favorite eras. Nice work, Megan! *Heart*

*Cool**Idea* I think of Dracula, also. It seems like an interesting setting.

What I like about Transylvania is that my niece Tracy visited there when she was on one of her deployments. She took a picture of Transylvania cows and sent it to me. I have it framed. I love looking at those cows and knowing she thought of me while she was there.

She visited a lot of places that had cows, but the Transylvania ones are the ones she sent. I think they are very pretty and so is the scenery. They don't look like vampire cows.

*Cow* I saw you had added to this and I came to read. I sent a donation to help out with the contest, but haven't heard anything back. I guess it is a busy time there for whoever. I hope it will be a well run deal, for you, as I donated thinking that it would be.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I like your summary of what has transpired. I don't know either why we get into a lot of sideways wars. Iraq, to me, was a dopey move. Same with Vietnam. My husband did two tours there.

Vietnam messed up a lot of people. That Memorial that they have on the Mall in D.C. is really something, a reminder of where political stupidity with war can lead. I know about after 9/11. My opinion is that it should have been drop something unforgettable on Afghanistan or wherever they thought that Bin Laden guy was at the time. We had the whole world behind us to do it. I don't know why Bush Jr. didn't do that.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

You have lived a lot of nice places. Washington D.C. and that area are always home to me. I will go there again soon to visit the grandkids. But we never have time to do things in D.C. while we are there. Lots of traffic now. Too many people.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I looked in your folder of things to read and this title caught my attention. I like the title as it captured my imagination and memories of my mother and her pearls came back to me.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I especially like this part:

"Should I dwell on dreams of love,
or on that my friends do tell?
All day long I think of this,
till sleep casts a lovely spell."

What I like here is that the individual asserts himself to dream about and imagine the object of his affection. Friends often are jealous and want a say-so in what we feel and express about those we love. It is sometimes a secret to be closely guarded.

The poem flows very well, technically, and conveys a message of love and infatuation. This is a poignant journey into an emotional and (hopefully) lasting relationship.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* Thanks, Megan, for sending what I wrote about Midsomer Murders TV Series on the BBC and Netflix. I hope people get a chance to see it. I love the show because of its humor and because the episodes are all in little villages that remind me of Jane Austen novels. Bad things happen, but the police and the culprits always have pretty good manners with each other. That adds to the humor of it.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

Megan, one thing I forgot to mention. I heard there is a special coin this year in England. I hope some day to get that coin as I collect them. It is a Jane Austen coin for the 200th anniversary. What a cool thing to have. One year in the 1990's I was there and I got a coin set of the Queen's anniversary at that time. I got one for my Dad, too then. Well, that was nice and I still have mine and now I have his.

The fact that they are releasing the coin is something I think I first learned from you. That shows how special Jane Austen was. I wish in the U.S. that the Mint would honor her, but I guess they only do that for Americans. I could live without a Bush Jr. or Obama Coin. I would much rather have a Jane Austen one or even an Ernest Hemingway coin, but no luck there.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* Well, three days is a short time to be somewhere when you are working. I wouldn't have the energy to do much either, although I have heard that Toronto is a very nice place to visit.

Is it harder to get in and out of the US now going to Canada, in terms of hassle and time? I was just wondering about that since this is across a border to Canada.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I like that you give restaurant recommendations. Maybe you can travel there for a longer stretch sometime. I used to have a job where I traveled to places for 2-3 weeks stays and I saw a lot of nice things doing that, long ago. We would be assigned to work with local union workers and a lot of times they would tell our group the good places to eat and have fun.

Long time ago now. Traveling can be tiring, but it is fun!

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I love flowers. Sometimes when I have been driving and in the depths of despair, I see lovely flowers along the way and it helps me.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

Did you know that Lady Bird Johnson planted the flowers in her Highway Beautification Program in the 1960's. I really appreciate what she did there. I think she did more to enhance my life than all the other first ladies and Presidents in my life combined. Well, it sure is pretty seeing those wildflowers when I drive up Route 29 through the BLue Ridge Mts of Virginia.

I wish I had written to her to tell her thanks about that. She had wildflowers (perennials) planted all over the country along the highways. I always think of her when I see some pretty flowers.

I have a list too.

I am reading Shattered about Hillary Clinton's failed campaign.

Fictionally, I am reading Major Pettigrew's Last Stand, recommended to me by some friends. You might like that because the writer's style is compared to Jane Austen's in the comments. Her name is Helen Simonson and I think she is British, also. It is a book that takes place in modern times. I got it cheap and used on Amazon.

Beyond that the Jackie one that you mentioned. The pictures in it look great.

I also got a Biography of Ernest Hemingway by Mary V. Dearborn.

Beyond that I'm not sure. Danielle Steel is a must read whenever she releases a new one. Lately, it's been fairly often and that is fine with me.

I also enjoy Dorothea Benton Frank's books. She has a new one every summer

*Cow* I saw you had added to your Blog City Journal since I was here earlier in the week. So, I came to read and send a review.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* Your bookcases sound like they are full of interesting reading. I have a lot of books. Mr. Hooves says I will never live to read them all. Well, maybe but I have them there when I get around to it, if I do.

We have a lot of the same books. I go to Barnes and Noble and I know that you do, also. I get those coupons in the email and then I am there. I buy a book a week, but I don't read that fast. It is one of the most enjoyable things I do. I don't travel anymore because of Boo (except up and back seeing the grandsons) so I don't spend a lot of moola. I get those books that are marked down a lot and then use a coupon. I enjoy the savings.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

The grocery stuff is interesting that you can learn about someone from the groceries. The clerks often comment on my dog food and my fruits and vegeys I buy. I tell them about how my dog gets the high priced apples, green beans and carrots for her snacks.

Her dog chow, I get at Wal*Mart because you can't beat their prices on stuff like that. They charge $7.97 for an 8.8 pound back of Purina Dog Chow while the supermarket has it for $12.19. I don't know why anyone would buy it there and pay so much more but they must because the size I like (8.8) never goes on sale.

My grocery shopping is quite a bit about Boo now. LoL

*Cool**Idea* I like the title and how it refers to more than one thing going on. This is a depraved, over indulged type of Summer vacation crowd. I picture Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley being part of this mayhem.

I especially like the ending. I wasn't sure about where the money was and I guess that the women don't know about it and don't care. It seems like they just had enough of you know who.

Well, it is a twisted tale of adultery and murder. What better way to start the season? I would say "Summer", but I don't want to give it an ugly connotation.

Very imaginative and clever writing. You did a fine job with the prompt words, too. Summer is different in the Hamptons.

*Cool**Idea* I think they are all great heroes. The Skipper from Gilligans Island went out of his way to make sure you were safe and you never forgot his kindness. I will always remember it too, thanks to your wonderful story that you shared.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I have a lot of military to thank in my family. My husband and brother both fought in Vietnam. My niece was deployed twice in the War on Terror and died, buried with full military honors up in New York. My other niece was in the Navy for 10 years, deployed to Saudi Arabia numerous times. My nephew was in the Old Guard at Arlington Cemetery when he was in the Army. My other nephew serves in the Coast Guard.

I hope we never go to war again and can be peaceful with everyone. President Trump gave a beautiful speech on Memorial Day. Unlike his predecessor, he seems to have genuine compassion and caring for the military he orders around. I hope that is the case, anyway. Also, hope you had a lovely Memorial Day to kick off the Summer time fun!

You haven't been here for a while, but hopefully you will return someday. I don't know if you will get an alert for this review or not, but it would be nice if you did. I like to think that you will.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* This is a poem about a lost love. It could be through something unavoidable or just letting the right one slip away. That is sort of left up to the reader's interpretation, which is a fine thing to do. We all bring our own baggage to the station when reading.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I liked this part best:

"It truly was perfect right there where we were
All that mattered at this moment was her
And as we embraced in a moment such as this...
The time was right to steal from her a kiss"

Very romantic and memorable!

I also liked the date you selected as it was a loved one's birthday, who is no longer with me. I did love her and I do miss her though

*Cow* I saw your poem featured in the Romance Newsletter that came out this past week. Congratulations on being selected to be in the Newsletter! Hopefully, you will come back at some point to the site so you can see it there.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea*I think a relationship has it's turmoil, just like a stormy summer day. So, the comparison between the relationship and the rain is an apt one.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

This was my favorite part:

"Forget the tears
Kiss through the pain
Kissing in the summer rain"

I like how it all blows over and there is romance again at the end. This is the way a volatile, passionate relationship sometimes go. There are ups and downs before settling in or breaking apart. We don't know how this will turn out, just like in life. It's a mystery.
