In my view, the primary focus should be on encouraging the writers to write. I do not review items I don't enjoy anymore because I see it as a waste of my time. So, if you get a review from me, I enjoyed reading your work. The amazing thing about this whole process is that reading an inspiring review usually leads to me reading more of a reviewer's work also. So, it's a win-win.

something I do not like. I do not enjoy writing hyper-critical reviews. I do NOT believe that "honesty" is a synonym for "mean." If I see someone being "mean" here on the public reviewing page, in group behaviors, or just acting as a bully I will not send them my reviews. The only exception to that would be judging a site contest - there all items get honest (and hopefully diplomatic) reviews of the work from me with no exceptions.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I love Jon Bon Jovi also. He was effective as a villain in the movie, Pay It Forward. I think he could find acting jobs more if he wanted to.

That song is something, how you might hear it at different times in your life and it always has meaning.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I hope that you like doing the Visiting Nurse thing. The nurses who came to my mom's house really helped her spirits. There wasn't much that could be done to really help her, but just having someone come who is knowledgeable and kind means so much. I know it did with my mother-in-law, also.

You are kind and caring, so I know it will be rewarding for both you and your patients, if you decide that is how you want to go. Retiring in five months sounds real good too. I have heard that you have to call early to get the social security stuff set up. Well, it is about five months so maybe you have already done that. I think they need you to come in to start the benefits coming and they start the month after you get to the age there, so start in January, but they pay them in February, I think in this case.

I hope it all works out the way you want it to.

It is nice to get hand written letters. I write to my two aunts who are in their 90's. They can't write back anymore, but I feel like since they both have trouble with hearing and are not on the internet that it is a good way to communicate.

Your list sounds real good. Kohl's is a favorite stop of mine, along with Barnes and Noble. Right now there is that 30% off thing going on at Kohl's. Our vacuum cleaner broke so we went and got a new one over the weekend, so we earned 10$ Kohl's cash so I will probably get a top to wear later this week. It's a never ending thing and Kohl's is close.

Well, books are great - I wish I had more bookcases to hold all the books. I have so many favorites.

*Cool**Idea* Most of those excuses are pretty lame. Well, I guess that it takes all kinds but people used to take pride in going to work and doing a good job. I guess that isn't so true anymore.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

The one about it being too cold was especially nervy. Then the one about the dog being hurt just upset me no end. Well, I am glad the pup was okay, but lying about something like that is pretty low. With the jail, I could see where everyone would be embarrassed and ashamed. Creepy to work with someone arrested though.

*Cool**Idea* Woods can provide an interesting setting for poems and stories. There are a lot of mysteries in the woods.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

It is nice to think about going for a walk and just relaxing by doing that. I have woods out back that are about to be torn down to build townhouses. That is what living in the city means around here. But the woods there are overgrown with lots of things going on like snakes out there. I just look and imagine about woods mostly.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I focus on the ending a lot of times. In the books I read I think some books are really good, but then the author doesn't know what to do in order to end the book. Weak endings are a pet peeve of mine with modern literature.

I think having a strong ending or else ending with a sentence that really makes the reader stop and think is a key element in successful storytelling.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

Gone with the Wind's ending is a great example. I think having him walk away from her was quite innovative (and richly deserved with all her fawning over Ashley). My mother had an original 1939 program from when she went to see Gone With the Wind in Iowa. I have it and it is one of my favorite things. That was an awesome movie. Sad endings are not my favorite unless it is something that has to be in order for the plot to make sense.

I wished in Titanic that somehow they both would have survived and come across each other years later since they were fictional characters.

DiCaprio should have won and Oscar there for that portrayal.

The great thing that stood out to me in the rules is that this can be something old or new. That opens it up to a lot of writers here. Well, you have some good publicity with that Newsletter mention and hopefully some will see the public review and enter.

*Cool**Idea* Did you know they were going to close up much ahead of time? That is a hard thing to plan for. I hope it all works out so you can do what you want to do.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I go to Barnes and Nobel a lot. I hope that they stay open because I hear rumors that they might close up some stores. The one closest to me is small, but the one about a half hour away is big. The only thing is some lunkhead drove his car into the big store. Literally. Well, hopefully they will repair it quickly and reopen it. The parking lot isn't long or big or anything, it is like a section of an off lying part of a mall with a very small parking lot. Someone really had to be out of it, I guess. I'm glad I wasn't over in the big one when that happened.

I would go to Barnes and Nobel every day, but if I come home with too many of those little bags, it won't be good. I love when they reduce books. I get books at Costco also and the used book place.

I sort of hope you can just cruise into December and be relaxed, but maybe you want to do that working bit. I hope you are okay with the whole healthcare situation for yourself. That is something that is tricky now until we get to the Medicare point.

*Cool**Idea* I enjoyed reading your poem about finding music in the storm. The weather rages all around, but it takes digging deep into the memory to find a safe haven in the violent weather happening all around.

This was my favorite part:

"Remembering the prayer of his Grandfather;
He prays for peaceful music to fill his now beating heart."

It is a family tradition that his grandfather has taught him how to find solace in the music. I think it is a good way to find solace from a lot of things in life that may tend to alarm or scare us.

*Cow* You have written another great newsletter, chock full of news about Jane Austen. So here I am reading and sending a review!

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I bet those Brontes were jealous if they didn't like her writing. When people don't like something and bray about it, it usually is backed by some jealousy over the usual things like talent and money.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I think that Ms. Austen owes her current huge popularity mostly to Colin Firth. Of course, she created Darcy, but he made him come alive to a lot of us in unforgettable ways. He continued to do that in the Bridget Jones Diary series as Mark Darcy.

If I had not seen the miniseries (the one with Colin Firth) then to me Jane Austen would be someone whose work I read and enjoyed in high school and college, along with other authors. What sets her apart is that she created characters that come alive to readers. She is unique in that sense that all those years later she could connect with a young man named Colin Firth so that he made her work speak to so many of us again.

When I go to Pemberly, it is with Colin Firth and no one else in the movies or shows. He's kind of a dream man there, I guess.

Great Newsletter. I bought The Duchess, but haven't read it yet. I look forward to that.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* The poetry is something that is an expression of things just like the story is. I guess it is all in what a person enjoys doing. Sometimes I am more in a story mood and others the poetry thing. I never know how it will go with where the writing takes me. It has helped me to appreciate my surroundings more in nature. I didn't pay much attention there when I was a younger calf.

I am with you on the cities. They have the great stores. There was a store up in Maryland, in Hunt Valley, north of Baltimore called Greetings and Readings. That store had so much stuff - with books, bags and souvenirs that I could spend all day there. I was rushed out. LoL. I wonder why.

Well, the traffic up there is not worth the fabulous stores to me. I would much rather have a slower pace, enjoy my surroundings now and not be rushed about. You can get almost anything, pretty much, on the Internet anyway. But, really, I could have stayed hours in that store and still stayed more. I ended up buying two books for the eldest grandson.

I think this is a poem of life and loss. We all face it who live long enough, with romance and other sorts of love and attachment.

I found this to be the center and the heart of the poem:

"a proposal on the banks of a lake, and then the selection of
an engagement ring twinkling brighter than all the stars
in the night sky with hope for the future, dreams beyond
imagination and yes, it was to be, meeting in June,"

Lovely memories to be cherished forever in this life and beyond when two are reunited again! Brilliant!

*Cool**Idea* Well, this Earl sounds like he had it coming for a while. I do not know why these abusers always think they are in the right. Sounds like the mother had her head on straight after her time away.

This made me think of a Martina McBride song. I think it is called Independence Day. Well, it is good to move on from things like this and I was happy to hear it was ruled an accident after all.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I think that patience and kindness are always the better choice. Sometimes, when I am upset I just don't respond. I have had people get really mad at me, but it's because I am afraid to say the wrong thing sometimes.

Well, you never know what will set someone else off.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I did something I don't usually do this Spring after the loss of a friend. I had the impulse to write what I thought to his wife. Well, I didn't hear until this past weekend. She said what I wrote meant more to her than anything else. That was something and it lifted my spirits. I could have just said sorry, but I felt like this friend of mine (who inspired the Pardner poem you sent a review for) deserved more so I wrote a long thing.

Then I was anxious about it, but since she knew that I meant well and took it in the spirit it was intended, it lifted us both up. It's funny how choosing kindness can do that.

Even when people make me mad, I should find a way to choose kindness and not just be storming off mad. I have learned that lesson this Spring.

Great entry, Megan. I am sure your patients and their families appreciate your kindness, even if they may not always say it at the time. I know I appreciate all the kindness my mother received in a care facility. *Heart*

*Cool**Idea* The Smokeys are such a beautiful, peaceful place. I always think of Dolly Parton and Dollywood, but Gatlinburg is a whole other story. I agree, it is sad to think of the damage those fire starting kids did. All the people killed and the damage for a while to the environment. That is a huge area though and it will come back from it, I am sure.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

We all remember the places we went in our childhoods so well. I think it has something to do with feeling safe, too.

The mountains of Virginia do it for me in the Natural Bridge area there. Lovely to explore our shared memories of summer time in the mountains of this beautiful land.

*Cool**Idea* Van Morrison is Irish. I didn't realize that until I saw that he sang a lot of times with The Chieftains.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

The sea gulls lead a very peaceful and calming life. I could see wanting to be free and where they are. Well, they have the best view of the water, don't they?

To live the life of a sea gull and truly see their point of view. That would be kind of a fine thing after all.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* China is a mysterious place. Those dragons are real I think. When we think of alligators and (as you say) dinosaurs they are related to the dragons. I have salamanders in my garage that look like miniature dragons. They scurry around pretty fast.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

That panda souvenir sounds cool. There was a panda at the D.C. zoo that was born on my birthday in 2005. He was the first little one to survive but when he was older they carted him up and sent him back to China because that was the deal he made. He was so cute and I have a lot of pictures I took of him at the zoo during that time when I lived in Maryland.

The Dad of that one was a big performing ham. He was entertaining and I have pictures of the two of them framed that I took. They are in a room where I keep a lot of my stuff including W.Com stuff, like physical merit badges I get.

Love those panda bears but I think the plane ride to China would be too long for me. I'll go there in my imagination with you on your journey here.

*Cool**Idea* I liked (especially) that it turns out to be something that is positive that grandpa has done, but was so modest that he kept it secret.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I admire the love and admiration that shines through the probe into the past. It is not as if we all don't have secrets and maybe good reasons for things that happened. Giving grandpa the benefit of the doubt in love is a wonderful tribute.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* You have written an interesting story about unraveling the past. Sometimes, I think we are better off only knowing what our relatives want us to know. Finding out more things after one's parents pass away is pretty common. Parents, as children of their own parents, are sometimes expert secret keepers.

Is there a need to know? I think it is a way we get closer to those we have lost, or at least attempt to feel a closeness after death.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I liked that you leave those open questions. We may never know the full truth of everything, but trying to peace it together can make us feel closer to family or like we never knew them at all. I sort of think there is a choice to be made there, but every family has its secrets.

*Cool**Idea* It is a tangled and complicated web when we got into looking to the secrets of the past. Sometimes, it is better to leave things well enough alone, but it sounds like, here, Kristin may have saved her own life by probing family history. I won't give away the plot and ending in the review.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I like that everyone has a secret, even Kyle, who at first seems like an outsider. No one is on the outside when secrets like this are unraveled. I was wondering about Gram's cryptic comment at the end. Was it meant to be literal that she would be the one to do that? Good to leave it to the reader's imagination as it is a chilling prospect to think that a beloved Gram would be that angry.

*Cool**Idea* This makes me think of my youngest grandson, Sam. It makes me smile when I think of the sunflowers he planted with grandpa at his house and that grandpa planted down here. We just spent time with him and this makes me smile.

*Thumbsup* I love the part about "sweet majesty under the sun". It reminds me of how nice it is to be home and for the sun to be shining (and the power to be on indoors)

*Cool**Idea* You have some beautiful badges and trinkets to be proud of. That is some great stuff you have created and all the badges are especially well thought out and designed.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I think your badges represent your interests and what you are accomplishing here very well. You have taught a lot of us a great deal about Jane Austen and the times she lived in. That is an achievement you have given with your skills as a teacher and communicator that you can always be proud of. I have told Mr. HOOves many times that I know what I know about those Regency times because of you and your Newsletter.

So, Bravo! You have taught me a lot and I was able to share some information with my daughter who left for England (with her family) last night. I think they are going to go to the Cotswold area and Bath as part of their roaming around over there if all goes well. I let her know about the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's death and I think she will probably do the tour there with the boys as part of their trip.

I will let you know if she lets me know stuff about over there later on in July. They are also going to a music festival (featuring Green Day) in Hyde Park this coming Saturday. *Heart*

*Cool**Idea*I think that Jane Austen will last for many centuries to come, just as you say, because people love the time setting that she wrote in. It seems like such a romantic and simpler time, doesn't it? And they had a lot more time to read without all the modern inventions we have now.

Just to read and imagine - she seemed to spend a great deal of time on that. Maybe in heaven she has her Mr. Darcy. I hope so and I hope she realizes how many people that she has touched with her wonderful words.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

Well, that weather sounds a bit damp. You have to get an Irish sweater with the rain coming down like it does in Ireland. Those sweaters are nice and cozy.

*Cool**Idea* I think it makes perfect sense that the actual memories coming back to the protagonist relate to her current predicament. Plus, not recognizing the husband may be related to something that transpired. I wasn't sure if that might be but I imagined that all was not as he was indicating from his tone and reactions to seeing her.

*Thumbsup* All the action packed momentum and danger makes the reader want to see what happens next. Very imaginative and clever storytelling, with fast paced happenings that read like a movie adventure.

*Cool**Idea* Creativity is something that is inside us. No one can take it away because it is a unique thing.

Your scrap book creations give you great joy. When I do something creative offline, I enjoy it. It helps to have a goal to focus on. Not having a goal can be problemmatic because it leads to too much time on one's hands.

Well, my eyes bother me lately so I can't do too much staring at things online. Maybe it is for the best, though.

Interesting entry. I am going north of Baltimore this week to see My grandson in a play. He is 10 and in a Dr. Seuss type musical. I am looking forward to seeing that! Traveling is such a hassle anymore, but it is worth the journey to see fun things.
