I believe in constructive criticism and honesty. I can adapt my review style to fit the kind of feedback an author is looking for (e.g., developmental suggestions, fine-tuning, proofreading, etc.), but will always try to be as encouraging and helpful as possible.
I'm good at...
Plotting, characterization, dialogue, structure/pacing, and professional considerations. I can also do serviceable technical editing/proofreading, but I'm much better with developmental/creative feedback.
Favorite Genres
I read almost everything. I particularly love genre fiction (mystery/thriller and science fiction/fantasy especially) and nonfiction of all kinds.

I enjoyed reading your poem. I noticed from your description that you said you couldn't make it say what you wanted and rhyme, but I don't necessarily think it needs to rhyme. I think it's a really nice piece just the way it is.

This was a fantastic story! You did a really great job of setting up the relationship between Sarah and Tom prior to the school shooting incident, which made the ending all the more tragic. This was a really well-written, effectively told story.

The two recommendations:

I would recommend tweaking the line in the seventh paragraph that reads, "He was the first boy her age that she didn’t want to drag her fist across his face at one time or another." It felt a little clunky to read. Maybe something like, "He was the first boy her age whose face she didn't want to drag her fist across at one time or another."

The second recommendation would be to describe the first and second volley of gunshots in more detail. You do such a great job of setting the scene in all other aspects of the story, when I read those two lines, I almost had to go back and read them again because I wasn't sure I had read it correctly. In a story with such great description, I wanted to know, in detail, what the thoughts, emotions, and sensations where when those gunshots went off.

Other than that, a really fine job. Keep up the good work!

Nice work, Huckebuck. I enjoyed reading your work, and especially appreciated the sentiment about agnostics and the obligatory "bless you" which is expected. It's a dilemma that I've discussed with many others before. *Smile*

The one spelling error I noticed was the last word of your second paragraph... should it be 'emissions' rather than 'emit ions'?
