with kind thoughts

Nurse, the curtain is drawn,

I need to see the mirror

recognizing myself,

a peace-less mind

who and where am I,

wandering in a nightgown.

The lovely face of my husband

seeing me in my wedding gown,

my candle flickering in the church.

I cannot see the golden wedding ring

his token that no longer exists,

lost in our marriage that day

trying to make sense of it.

Where are my tablets

that I may see his face

before my memory fades?

Our home there on the hill

the children with me in the den,

I sat and watched them with a puzzle

trying to make sense of moving the pieces –



“Honey, the specialist says you're doing well

writing your thoughts in our family diary,

the children and I are so proud of you

strong as ever here in the clinic,

being awake all these hours.

The good news here

home tomorrow,

your garden scene

flowers in your vase

crystal in the sunlight.

This beautiful memory

when the twins were born,

behind lace curtains drawn

blue eyes crying in your room,

now praying for your safe return.”

locked away the idiot spare my life

cleaning streets
of dung,
found this dollor
to pay rent for my tent,

the children useless as slaves,

White balloons in a cemetery today,
the spirit of God passed that way
come to hold his baby child,
his gift of paradise for her
