My first blog about my life, my favorite music, my opinions, my feelings. Whatever.
This is the first blog I've ever had! You'll have to bear with me because I'm still learning how to do this whole thing. I'll admit that it's bit of a mess right now. I started blogging for "The Soundtrack of Your Life and I couldn't just let it end there! I don't think there's any point in keeping a separate blog for all of the blogging groups I want to join. I'm going to keep them all in this one so I can grow into an eclectic pot of confusion.

What you'll find here:
*Bursto*My opinions on everything.
*Burstv*Blog prompts for various groups.
*Burstp*A different song everyday that means something to me.
*Burstg*Experiences I've had in life

WARNING

This blog is rated GC and will contain offensive language, stories, and opinions. Please don't read if you're easily offended! My intentions aren't to offend anyone, so trust my warning and turn back now or forever hold your peace! *Bigsmile*

Things I'll be using this blog for:

*Checkb*"The Soundtrack of Your Life
*Checkr*"Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise
*Check1*"30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS

I want to hear from you!

As I mentioned before, this is my first blog. I'd love to hear from anyone who reads this. Leave a comment, rating, or review. Let me know what you like to read about. Have a suggestion for me to write about? I'd love to hear it. The best thing about a blog is the exchanging of opinions between bloggers and readers. I want to keep us all interested. Plus, it's just nice to get a little love sometimes. Let's get to know each other.*Smile*

This is the busiest month I've had in a long time. I've been house hunting and working. On here, I'm doing a poetry class, blogging, and doing the ultra "low-maintenance" GoT challenge. I did have a really nice day with Kira yesterday. We went to a nearby state park and hiked some of the trails, then we went out for dinner downtown. It was fun to just get out of the house and get away from the usual day-to-day grind. It's hard when you work from home because you don't stop working or really have days off. I have some days where I work less hours, but I still spend a large amount of time worrying about work or doing work. Anyway, trying to stay positive and chill through our moving process and all that, but I tend to get stressed around this time.

May 5, 2014 Prompt: Three things you cant go without..

I feel like we recently had a very similar prompt. It was the ten things that make you smile prompt. You can read my response here: "Invalid Entry. I'd like to think that my answer to this one would be answers one, three, and four from that list. I'm not there yet, but hopefully someday the three things I can't be without will be my wife, my kitties, and my writing. Those are all positive and healthy things to invest my time and money into, so I hope that's the direction I'm going.

May 5, 2014 Prompt: Summer is on its way and temperatures are supposed to be rising. What do you do to cool down on a hot summer day?

I like the hot weather, except when you have to get into the car that has been baking in the sun all day. I hate those stuffy few minutes before the air kicks in. I'm basically okay with the heat though. I deal with it better than the cold during the winter and I enjoy summer storms, too. I just drink a lot of water and eat popsicles. I also like to go swimming. But, the best way to beat the summer heat, is to just turn the air conditioning on high and close the blinds. *Thumbsup*

Leaves are falling all around, It's time I was on my way
Thanks to you, I'm much obliged for such a pleasant stay
But now it's time for me to go. The autumn moon lights my way
For now I smell the rain, and with it pain, and it's headed my way

30DBC May 4, 2014 Prompt: Pick a blog post from your co-bloggers whom you think is cool. Tell your readers why you like it. At the end of your entry post your reflection for the entire or the whole Sunday.

Oh, man, just one post? But all my blogger friends are so cool! Okay, well, it's only fair that I take one from Mitchopolis since he did take one from me one time. I'll link to his entry here "Invalid Entry so that you can go read it at your leisure. I don't want to mess up the formatting of the emoticons he did because they just pull the whole thing together. It's actually his response for the first 30DBC prompt for this month. That was such a good prompt because there were so many cool and funny responses.

You all know I think Mitch is the coolest, and it's not just because we're the same person. This entry was so funny and when I read, 🌑 Darleen - QoD and 💙 Carly 's responses, I laughed about it all over again. It was everything we've come to know and love about his blog. It was sarcastic, witty, and fast paced. Definitely a good read. *Thumbsup*

Now, the last question is asking about my Sunday, right? Well, my Sunday was pretty nice. I was out with Kira all day enjoying the nice weather. We hiked on the hiking trails nearby and had a nice lunch. It was totally drama-free and an awesome time. I wish every day could be like today.

May 3, 2014 Prompt: Endurance or Kindhearted? Choosing Kindhearted.

I do have a moral code believe it or not. It consists of ideas taken from many different religions, but it boils down to this: Keep an even balance of good and bad karma.

That's right. I don't want to tip the scales. I don't want to be a saint and I don't want to be a deviant. I want to give positive things to the world and indulge in selfish acts that make me happy. I want to give to those around me as much as I take. When people think of me, I want them to think of both positive and negative things because the cumulative of the two is what makes me the person that I am.

I don't know when I started believing in the power of karma, but I can remember thinking about it as a child. I must have heard about it somewhere. Maybe a TV show? I asked my parents about it in my teenage years and they both claimed to not believe in karma and said that they didn't talk about it around me. They don't know where I picked it up. Maybe it was from a teacher?

At this point, you may be wondering what this has to do with being kindhearted. I want to be the best person that I can be. That means different things to different people. To me, being kindhearted means that you do not wish to take from others more than you give in return. If you can give more than you take, that's great! Personally, I'm not ready for that responsibility. I just want to treat people well and be treated well in return.

Anyone that knows anything about karma would tell you that I don't believe in the traditional idea of positive and negative karma. I wouldn't argue with that, but I do find comfort in my karma-related things that I keep near me. For example, I have several bracelets and rings that have an Endless Knot   on them. In the belief of positive and negative karma, the endless knot represents the endless cycle of cause and effect. I keep the symbol nearby because it reminds me that every action I take is going to have a consequence. It doesn't always get me to make the right decision, but at least when I find myself broken and alone, I can look at my jewelry and understand why I am where I am.

I also enjoy the Wiccan belief on this, Rule of Three  , which states that all energy put out, positive or negative, will be returned threefold. Now, the traditional views of karma say nothing of a three times return, but I just like the idea of taking responsibility for one's self. I like the idea of not blaming others for the bad things that happen you. On the other hand, I like the idea of owning the good things that you receive in life. It kills me when I hear someone playing down their achievements by saying it was someone or something else that carried them through. No, you did good things. You put forth effort and positive energy, and you saw a return of the same thing. There's nothing lucky about it. You make your own luck and fortune.

My definition of kindhearted may be different than the next person's, but this has always worked for me. I think it's so important in life to find something that works for you. If a belief in positive or negative karma is going to make you think twice before you treat someone poorly, then you're making kindhearted decisions. It doesn't matter to me whether the intention is to just keep your personal karma balanced or if it's to actually be kind to someone. As long as the action is treating people well, you're going to fall under kindhearted in my book.

30DBC May 3, 2014 Prompt: What is you Geek Zodiac symbol? Write a story or poem about it.

I was born in 1991,
I am the traveler of time.
When am I? No one knows.
My life's an upward climb.

We're forthright and honest.
We're smart and bold.
I guess I'm direct,
Or so I am told.

I'm the worst at poetry,
off the top of my head.
This is just my ambition,
That's what the site said.

Lyrics

So, I'm sick now on top of everything else. Nothing like a common cold to bring in the spring. *Rolleyes* I'm in a total state of confusion right now. I guess life is weird like that sometimes. I'm going out on Monday to look at some apartments. If we don't like any of the ones we look at on Monday, I'm not sure what we're going to do. I've pretty much decided that where I'm living now is really bad for renters because the cost is so high and you get so little. On top of that, the city I live in doesn't even have anything cool to offer really. It's stale and what I'd call "retail hell".

On top of that, Kira told me she stopped taking her birth control, which is really messed up. I basically don't get a decision. Plus, she told me through a text at like two in the morning, which is just awkward. There's like, no line of communication right now. I don't think she even really wants a kid though. I feel like it's just a power play to try to get the upper hand over me. Man, relationships are hard.

Anyway, I hope you're all having a good weekend. I'm going to combine the Blog City and BCOF prompts today because they kind of go hand in hand and Lyn said I could.

May 3, 2014 Prompt: Have you ever gone back and deleted a whole blog post? Did you admit on your blog that the post was removed? Did it make you feel better or worse?

** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **
May 3, 2014 Prompt: Do you think people should have the right to prune their comment section, only keeping positive comments and deleting the critical ones?

I have deleted blog entries and rewritten them, but only when I realized that I read the prompt wrong originally. I've never deleted one because I was embarrassed about the content or because people didn't like what I wrote. I have thought about it before and I wouldn't hide it if I chose to do that. I think it was Elle who suggested that I leave it up so I can go back and read it later. I thought that was probably a good idea, so I've just been doing the best I can and leaving my stuff up, even if it doesn't paint me in the best light or whatever. The best I can do is be myself and be honest. I think I would feel pretty bad if other people's opinions or my opinions of myself made me delete a post. I mean, once it's up, it's up. You can delete it, but people aren't going to forget what was in it.

I think people should have the right to do whatever they want. If they want to prune out negative things and keep only positive things, more power to them. I wouldn't do this because I tend to be more confrontational and if someone said something negative in my comments, you'd likely see a long, drawn out conversation full of our opinions. But, I understand that some people are less confrontational, and really, it would depend on the nature of the comments. If someone was just saying hateful or overly negative things, I'd probably delete their comments and hit 'ignore' on their account. Only because I don't like people who are overly negative or spiteful. I wouldn't really want to deal with it.

However, I like when people call me out on stuff. If someone sees some bullshit, they should feel free to let me know how they feel. I think it's a little dishonest to delete comments that are just slightly critical. I mean, if the ratio of positive to critical comments is 50-50, it's kind of dishonest to make them a hundred percent positive. I guess in that case, I might let them know how I feel and get my comment deleted as well. *Thumbsup*

Pond May 2, 2014 Prompt: Legal or Medical. Choosing Legal.

My favorite laws are the ones you wouldn't think could possibly be illegal. The best thing about a ridiculous law is that you know there's a reason it become a law. Someone, somewhere, at some point in time, did something so stupid that they had to make an entire law of it just to ensure that no one else would do it.

Here are some of my favorites:

*Bulletb* In Maine, it's illegal to step out of a plane in flight. Yes, folks. That means that someone was dumb enough to straight up walk out of an airplane while it was in flight. Who would have thought that would be a bad idea?

*Bulletg*
In Washington, it is illegal to pretend one's parents are rich. I love this one so much for the fact that it's totally subjective. I mean, maybe my parents make $30,000 a year and I think they're rich. Maybe mine make $250,000 a year and I think they're middle class at best. Who's to say what constitutes being "rich"? Maybe my parents are rich in happiness because their son is so awesome. What? No? Okay...

*Bulletv*
In Louisiana, it is illegal to rob a bank and then shoot at the bank teller with a water pistol. I'm still laughing about this one. Okay, wait. So is it legal to rob a bank and then shoot at the bank teller with a real pistol in Louisiana? Why is there a need for such a specific law? I think I have a feeling, Mitchopolis ...

*Bulletr*
In California, no vehicle without a driver may exceed 60 miles per hour. Look, if you're going to have your car driving itself, you need to keep it at a reasonable speed. What are you trying to do? Kill someone with your magic self-driving vehicle?

I could read these things all day and laugh about them. They're just so oddly specific and most of them don't even make any sense. If anyone wants to read more, check out this link  . I promise you'll have, like, at least an hour of fun reading about strange laws. They even have them by city, so you can go look up your city and make sure you don't wind up in jail for "riding a bicycle in a swimming pool".

30DBC May 2, 2014 Prompt: Are you technologically challenged? Does a universal remote make you want to run screaming in the streets? Or maybe you are one of the gifted. Maybe you have a talent for bailing out the techno-challenged and can't help but shake your head at all the fuss. (In which case I will feel perfectly justified in hating you. Be warned.) Write about the challenges of today's technology.

You better get to hating, 30DBC Creator/Founder 'cause I have this technology thing down. Okay, let's look at it this way, if you're reading this, you're at least knowledgeable enough to access the internet and use email and all of that. This is a positive thing! I don't think anyone here is too dreadfully ignorant of technology.

Wait, are universal remotes considered technologically advance now? I remember having one when I was, like, ten. You wanna know what makes me want to run screaming in the street? The thought of having a different remote for every media system I have. What a nightmare. *Shock*

So, yeah, I'm good with technology. Family members often have me "fix" their computers that aren't even broken. But there are challenges that go along with it. My biggest challenge with technology today is that it has given me zero attention span. I think we get so used to having all of the information right now that it gets hard to pay attention to anything that takes longer than a few seconds to read about or watch.

I often find myself thinking of things like, "Ah, this video is six minutes long. Yeah, that's too long, I'll just read the comments section." I find myself reading a lot more poetry and short stories because I can't find the time or commitment to read a long novel, though I still try to from time to time. It's really bad, I even find myself thinking that way when someone is talking. If they're taking too long to get to the point of their story, it's hard not to rush them because the in between part is so unnecessary and boring.

Welp, I guess technology has kind of made me a jerk.

May 2, 2014 Prompt: Mother's Day is coming up. What is the best Mother's Day gift you ever gave or received.

Well, I'm not a mother and I've never really given a Mother's Day gift. I usually get my mom a card and spend the day with her though, which i think is the best gift you can give. Flowers and jewelry are nice, but creating memories is worth so much more in the long run. When I didn't see my mom for a couple years, I think the best gift I could have given her would be actually being there for Mother's Day. I dunno. Maybe the Momma Bloggers can confirm or deny this.

May 1, 2014 Prompt: Problem Solving or Risk Taker? Choosing Risk Taker.

I'm what you would call a risk taker. I've often heard myself described as a risk taker, especially by my mother. I guess that doesn't really count though because she thinks it's risky to take the trash out after dark for fear of being kidnapped. Yes, this happened recently. She told me, a twenty-two year old male, not to take my garbage to the dumpster after dark because I might get kidnapped. *Rolleyes*

The question is, what is a risk taker really? https://www.thefreedictionary.com says:
"Noun: risk taker - someone who risks loss or injury in the hope of gain or excitement."

But really, there are two different types of risk takers. I'm the first person to jump on a roller coaster, jump out of a plane, go rock climbing, or dive into the water. I guess that's why the people around me consider me to be a risk taker. I'm kind of the guinea pig of the group who will try out the water, then let everyone else know if it's okay. I guess that's the good part of being a risk taker.

On the other hand, I've been in the worst ghetto of many major cities looking for my next fix. I've shot up enough junk to tranquilize an elephant. I've hopped on moving trains to get to the next city. I've slept in dirty rest stops because I was too tired to go on. I refuse to settle down anywhere for longer than a year because I feel like I'm trapped. I've couch surfed in people's houses who I only know through drug connections because I had nowhere else to go.

In my short time in this world, I've found that the best way to live your life is through healthy balance. It's good to have fun and go on adventures, but there's a difference between doing something that could get you hurt and doing something that will get you hurt at some point. I'm still learning to balance the scales, but realizing more and more that I have nothing to show for my risky lifestyle. My dream for myself is to be in a complete grey area with risk. I don't want to live in the black or the white anymore.

Welp, the Game of Thrones challenge is in full swing and it's pretty evident. My strategy for this month is to follow Mitchopolis around and do whatever he does. This is a proven method for success. Really though, I'm just going to keep myself grounded because I have a lot going on this month. I'm going to do my best, but mostly, I'm going to try to have fun.

I've decided that I'm going to keep this main entry of the day for Blog City and BCOF. I'll make two other entries every day for Talent Pond and 30DBC, but there's no point in overcrowding my main entry where I actually talk about things other than prompts. Plus, as Mitch pointed out yesterday, I think you're supposed to have a separate entry for 30DBC anyway.

I hope you're all having a good week. *Thumbsup*

May 1, 2014 Prompt: What is the best thing you ever saw on a trip?

What kinda trip? Eh? *nudgenudge* *wink*

No, I kid. I know what you mean. I've been a lot of different places and I've seen a lot of different things, so it's hard to say what my favorite thing would be. Well, actually, I know what would make up the best thing I've ever seen. I mean, for this, I wouldn't think it would be something that everyone else can see anytime they go there. My favorite things to see when I'm visiting a place is the locals celebrating a local event. You can't get that anywhere else because it's specific to the area.

Say like a local festival with local music, or a parade or something like that. I'm trying to think of something off the top of my head for example, but I can't really think of any. Well, wait, I was in a city during the gay parade one time and that was pretty awesome. There were a bunch of fabulous guys doing gymnastics down the road. Everyone was drinking and having a really good time well into the night. It was a lot of fun.

May 1, 2014 Prompt: Write a thank you letter to someone you are thankful for.

Oh, does it have to just be to one person? It does say someone, but I'm going to break the rules here.

Dear WDC Blogger Friends,

Thank you for being optimistic and understanding, even when I probably don't deserve the kindness. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my blog posts when I know that you're busy with other things on the site. A special thanks to Mitchopolis for keeping me grounded with sarcastic wit when you can tell I'm getting overwhelmed.

Charlie

There. Like that? Or is that too serious? Okay, fine. Try this.

Dear Kira,

Thank you for stopping at McDonald's to get me a sweet tea from the fountain because it's SO much sweeter than sweet tea from the jug at the store. Oh, and thanks for getting it in a Styrofoam cup because you know I hate the condensation on the outside of the plastic ones.

Charlie

Put your dreams away for now
I won't see you for some time
I am lost in my mind
I get lost in my mind

Momma once told me
"You're already home when you feel loved,"
I am lost in my mind
I get lost in my mind
