me me me:

Trip would be more enjoyable if I could get over myself.

I do enjoy the moments. Most of them in fact.

Day 7 and I do not want to travel but must leave soon if I`m off to somewhere. Maastricht?

08:15 and day is wasting away.

Too out of it to share any wisdom from what I´ve learned so far. Trip is much more exciting than these entries.

Me

Took bus and train to Vianden. Luxembourg is small and places are well connected. It would be easy to choose one place to stay and do day trips.

Vianden... the chateau is lovely since its restoration. It was ruins in the mid 1800s. Nothing grand in the Parisian sense but nice. The walk up to it was fine. Bought postcards and ate a pistachio white chocolate ice cream cone. On way down had fired cheese and a pate reisling. I wasnt too awfully hungry but I was cold as it was around 50 degrees.

Back in town I ate a grompere kichelcher ...spelling... three of them. I think they were potato pancakes.

Met nice people including a couple from California and another from Pennsylvania. And a Bavarian married 42 years to a man from New Jersey. She was hilarious

Anyhoo... tired. I need to write in journal before tucking myself in. My temp is high. This place is roasting. I was gone all day so I ended up with a top bunk as they made me change rooms. Gonna be fun...

Me>>>

Small things confuse. Public internet access sucks here in Luxembourg too. Internet in general hasnt amused me. This hostel computer keyboard...

Cant find certain symbols and the keyboard isnt correct ...as in keys are mislabeled.

Ack.

At least I got one postcard out today, ate a great pastry, took lots of photos, walked...

Luxembourg is a photogenic city.

Mentally... not quite as well. Lost shirt... found shirt... plus pants and another shirt. ...right where I put them.

So out of it.

But still it was a good day. Tomorrow...

ME:

I am waiting to catch the train. This hostel is full tonight (tons of high school kids) so I decided to go to Luxembourg as originally planned, They may not have a bed tommorrow night... A bit of a nightmare.

TGV: the fast train 2 1/2 hours but it costs €78. Ouch.

Paris was very warm yesterday. Lovely evening. Today is crisp.

My blog entries will probably continue to be short. Too aggravating on this tablet and frankly one shouldn't "sit on the computer" while traveling.

Nerves a bit shot today as well.

walking me:

Walked Versailles yesterday. And then walked from Île de la Cité to La Villette. Today did walking tour of center to the Louvre and Obilisque. Walked back to hostel by way of Moulin Rouge and Montmartre.

I was ill this morning. Better but my feet ache.

I was plagued by lack of internet. I am here for too short a time to figure out how to do some things the French way.

Need sleep! Now.

First Tuesday Moi:

First Monday came and went. Loooooooong flight and then CDG. *Frown* Such a pain. Long walk for lugage, long wait. Hard to figure out how to get to the train. Long line to buy ticket. €9.5 Met nice sisters from Hay River, NWT, Canada. But.... couldn't find my way out of Gare du Nord then long walk to Quai de la Seine and St. Christophers where the price for a bed was higher than expected. I survived. Ben from England was very helpful at reception.

Went for walk. Mix of people: African, Asian, Moslem, Jew. Kids playing in the park. Men playing version of bocci (boules?) And mix of ages playing paddle ball. Took pictures.

I wasnt feeling good until I ate a fricassé and flan chocolat.

I was so tired that I went to bed before sunset. Up at 06:30. Ate breakfast. Ready for the day?

INSANE ME:

I managed to straighten out Kobo and bought's Europian travel guide. I did a final wash. Tonight I pack. But first I'm playing with my Samsung while Nick studies.

Today? COLDISH. Even saw snowflakes. As long as my flight leaves it won't matter. I even remembered to suspend phone service. Details. Used Skype so that seems to work okay. I'll just have to get used to this touchy screen.

Anyhoo ...just letting y'all know I'm okay.

Frolicking me:

I bought a Samsung tablet. Learning how to use it. Vi få se. I got things off my list. Went to REI and bought black travel underwear as I had a credit. Got my pills too. Remembered to buy razors. Celebrated with a hamburger! Stress level is lowering.

Nerves-out-of-whack ME!:

My young neighbor suffers from chronic pain. Today he was looking much better than normal. But he agreed that he's sick and tired of being sick.

I'm sick and tired of being "crazy".

My nerves are totally shot. I'm not sleeping well. I can't seem to focus to get things "done".

And yet, slowly things are getting done.

When I arrive in Paris Monday it won't matter if my two rooms are clean and in good order. Nor whether there are any dirty clothes in the basket. Since I usually get an urge to clean when I'm this nervous, I'm not worried. I've already started.

I shopped last night for four days of food. I'll leave very little and nothing perishable. My plants will be watered or not. Lavinia has the key and has helped in the past. But I'll only be gone two months. I'm still not reorganized after the shock of last March when I came back to a room that wasn't "mine". As I said... slowly.

My energy levels are out of whack. Either very tired or nervous (as in engine running but not in gear).

I whine too much.

Most people think I should be thrilled to be in Paris. I'm not. Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing Alfred if we can get together (schedules can be brutal; it was hard for Anna Lisa in Sweden last June). Yes, I'll make the most of it.

And yes, I'll take thousands of photos with my camera and post some I take with my new tablet or ipod or whatever I purchase by Saturday... I'll have mostly good experiences, a couple great ones, maybe a mishap or two. That's part of traveling as well.

I'll even send postcards, make a few calls. I'll do facebook and blog when I can.

All this preparation? (I even watched a video on Holland last night). All this knowing how it's done (how many times already...)? It's not enough. My nerves are shot.

I've even thought about not going. My depression speaks a lot.

By next Wednesday I hope to be over that.

Tired-old-bones me:

I will miss the farmer's market as Party noted. I really look forward to it. Alas, I won't be here much this year ...again.

Did I mention I may "have" to go on the road in July? My mother is planning to visit Washington state. Costa Rica beckons... August? Except I CANNOT miss the August 31st UM football game hosting Appalachian State. *Smirk*

One has to get one's priorities straight.

Which is why I'm blogging instead of dealing with my checklist ... *Rolleyes*

Good reasons to stay in one place two-three nights:

1. less tiring physically.
2. if there's a hitch in the schedule a day can be snipped.
3. less tiring mentally/emotionally if I don't have to think about the next night.
4. I might get to actually see something!
5. I may feel like I've actually visited the place.

Watched the last Inspector Wallander movie last night. Started to clean out the fridge. The Senior Center $3 meals comes in handy as that's one less daily meal I have to think about. Small things do matter.

Now about buying a "tablet" computer...
