Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills.

I bow before the Bitterroots
and just like you

Prolly not.

moi:

Scarlet asked whether we will have facebook forever... I think not. Even institutions that last centuries peter out eventually.

For example, I didn't get to Rorøs in Norway. The mines there lasted over 300 years. Closed. The mines near here in Butte lasted even less.

Phones? Music? Poetry? Some things survive or mutate...

Old stones get covered with moss or are ignored like the stones that warned about tsunamis in Japan.

Facebook will have its day ...and then we'll all move on.

*Reading* Poetry! The local library discarded poetry books. Montana authors, well-known authors... not pleased. Their insanity is my gain however. I do believe that there should be a repository of titles here in Montana. It doesn't have to be complete like the Smithsonian or Library of Congress.

*Bird* Flying off to Costa Rica for a month the last week of July. Trip down is only 12 hours and back 15. This is good. Fly Delta to Salt Lake, Los Angeles then San José. Cost? Not bad. Not as cheap as 4 years ago but what's as cheap as it used to be...

*Quill* Been writing more. I get inspired and write more when I'm bored or not over-anxious as I am when traveling.

*Castle* I'm even catching up on housework.

...mountains.

ME!

Saw Nick off this morning. People leave this town (wah!). Fortunately they end up coming back. *Smirk*

Many locals comment on the Missoula vortex that sucks people in and won't let them go. People come back to this town of high rents (compared to income) and few jobs, dreary winters... Just cannot sever the ties that bind them to the culture of Portland-lite. They even try to escape to Portland! And come back.

Nick is off to North Dakota and Florida. To misquote Bogart in Casablanca "we'll always have facebook".

As for the cool wonderful sleeping weather after the rains (got a deluge of 1/2 inch!)...

99º forecast next week.

...I'm back. which means I should do more at WDC. Like write, read, edit, comment.

Me:

No big news. No SCOTUS news. No facebook news. Except... that the Rainbow Gathering is here in Montana and someone I know from Costa Rica may be visiting. Yeah!

I went to the Spanish Circle. 22 today? Very successful group. Awesome people.

Today is Thursday and the last day for my raggedy journal book #38. It was so pristine green back in March. *Sad* By tomorrow I'll have moved on to purple book #39.

Saw Dustin at Bernice's Bakery. Love how I manage to run into people! I warned Carly who will be visiting soon... should take 2 days max to run into most everyone.

That's how life rolls here.

Can I roll with it?

...but not here.

East of here in Meagher County north of Teresa in Bozeman.

me:

Played one game of Mah Jongg and won (dragons and flowers). I was dead in the water when one of my opponents played 3 West Winds, so I had to adjust. And did! I'm good for the year.

I also completed a level 2 sudoku, although I was very slow.

Socrates Club hit a bump today. It's one thing to have an opinion but to think you're right because you've "worked it out" is another. Even rational people can be wrong.

Three salad lunch for $3: tuna, chicken, potato. Very nice. I bought into it for the cherry cobbler. *Smirk*

I put the fan in the window so it would cool my room off. It gets cool at night even after a hot day. Today it never warmed up! Good sleeping weather.

Just another day...

...are blooming.

Me:

The irises are gasping their last gasp but the borage is blooming. So many flowers in bloom in early June. The leftovers of Spring and the harbingers of Summer.

It's still green, but it won't be for long if it doesn't rain. Dry Spring. The river never rose much but that's okay if there's enough snow high in the mountain peaks for runoff.

Me?

Still struggling. Went over to Nancy's home and sat with friends last night. She has a friendly wild duck that visits. We played a dominoes game. I resisted, but...

Did get to bed at a decent hour and I'm getting enough sleep overall but there's no consistent rhythm. I'm awake, bubbly or tired at random times.

Well... the wash got done and my black underwear is folded and ready for the next trip. I need a few hours at the computer to strategize.

Saturday night I got to speak with a young student who is going to school in Trollhätten in Sweden next winter semester. Thrilled me to share what I know! I'm happy when I can be of some use. *Delight*

...depressed.

mi:

We can never be someone else. We are best at being ourselves.

Depresses me to the max. I see people I want to be or worse ..."have".

I walk my journey alone.

...

Went to market. Saw Jeremy. Saw Peter. Met other people from Baltimore or Orioles fans. Bought steamed dumplings. Bought morels.

Glad I remembered to go.

I was up early after collapsing early. This adjusting ain't adjusting. Tired now. Need coffee. Almost noon.

Without purpose I'm a bit lost. Have something to keep me busy and occupied every day of the week. Doesn't seem to be enough.

When I'm traveling I don't have time to get too depressed. The anxiety and daily frustration wipe it out. When good things happen I can smile.

But when the pressure is off even good things don't help much.

I mostly look and sound happy. Folks have no idea...

I think I'm still on Stockholm time.

me:

To bed too early; up too early.

But I'm doing fine.

I'm methodically unpacking and organizing. It'll all be done soon. No rush.

Stopped in at Thursday evening in the park last night by happenstance. It poured. I know market is tomorrow. Today?

Got to talk to someone who is going to Norway and Sweden in July. Color me happy.

And treated myself to a banana-split cupcake at Bernice's.

Need to focus on writing and editing now that I'll be back into a routine.

Next trip may be late-July until late-August. We shall see.

...is fine, thank-you.

ME:

I did okay on my trip. I estimate $78/day but I could be wrong. In any case my bank balance is fine and I have enough money to plan my next trip.

Still... tempting to go NOWHERE!

I got in at 8am Stockholm Time yesterday. Nick Bless-his-Heart picked me up at the airport at midnight Montana Time. Went to bed. So exhausted by flight back.

That didn't stop me from eating calamari with chips at Ivers in the Seattle airport though. Nor did I snooze and miss photos of the Rockies, the ice pack off the east coast of Canada, the western coast of Greenland, Faroe Islands, Shetland Islands, Hardangerfjord, Oslo.

I have no one to blame but myself.

Not quite straightened out time-wise but I've seen friends, picked up mail, went to the doctors for my scheduled appointment, seen friends.

I'm catching up.

Tomorrow I meet a friend of a friend to talk about traveling around Sweden and Norway.

Glad I can be of some use. *Laugh*

The fjord is not quite glass; but, the day is warming and promises to be picture perfect.

No need to think of the blizzards and dark dreary days.

Unless one is moving to this paradise.

Need to finish my coffee and contemplate eating and repacking and planning my next move.

In the meantime the morning sun streams in, the four lambs stay close to their mother, two children age 4 and 6 play nicely. People are out and about but the day is tranquil.

All is good.

I bought two used books today. Authors who write in nynorsk, who I'd have trouble finding in the USA. I don't feel too guilty... just need to make space where there isn't any!

Don't ask the price ...things cost.

I also went to the glacier museum and did some walking along the Fjærland fjord. After a cloudy morning the sun came out and it almost got warm.

I'm figuring out how to get around. Just in time to leave. LOL

Saturday is a day for washing and repacking. There are no buses. The forecast is sunny, calm and warm. Good day for a long walk.

5 Americans in the dorm. We're getting alone nicely.

Time to head off to bed. It's 11 and not dark out but still ...it's 11.
