Enthusiastic Monday!

Writing/blog prompt:"Persuade me why you appreciate rainy days."

[Embed For Use By Upgraded+]

I have an, on going, enthusiastic, love/hate relationship with, "Rainy Days" and "Mondays"

Being in the lawncare business for the past eleven years, I have learned that rainy days are the worst kind of days you can have.
On the other hand, without rainy days, there would not be lawns to care for.

When I worked on the clock at other jobs, I dreaded Mondays just because they were the furthest day from the week-end. "If you have to go back to work, it might as well be raining too."

Now the weather dictates my work schedule, if it rains on the week days, I have to (at times) work through the week-end to stay caught up on service commitments. Rain is a double edged sword. First off, you lose the day, because you can't cut the grass when it's raining. Then, the grass grows faster, because it just got rained on, so it takes more time to catch up. If it rains on a Monday then it's a triple edged sword.

I've never been a fan of rainy days.

I know we need rain, but as far as I'm concerned it should rain for one or two hours each night, so the days can all be warm and sunny.

Here is a list of: Things I like to do in the rain.

Sing in the *Sun* sunshine *Sun* folks & have a nice day!

"30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS
The Sunday Review
Writing/blog prompt:"BLOG! Reflect on your week, include your favorite blog entry from your fellow challengers from the preceding week and, most importantly, why."

This has been a typically perfect Sunday, from the time I awoke until now, when I have the rest of the evening (if I want) to read and write this day has been, most enjoyable.
Leslie and I enjoyed a pleasant bunch after sleeping in. I have an Aunt who always said, "I never miss church, I never go, and I never miss it." So, we (Leslie and I) didn't miss church this Sunday morning. I went out in the afternoon with my son, we dropped by to visit my mom, aka Grandma Bingo. We had a nice visit, everything had a good feel to it. Now I can relax and reflect on my entire week, catch up on reading some of the blogs I did not get to, and write an entry of my own.

*Telephone* riiiiing riiiing

Hang on...phone.
Looks like little Bro is stopping by, he lives across the street from me. I know...great! huh *RollEyes* brb.

*Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch*
*Music2**Music2**Music1**Music2**Music2**Music1**Music2**Music2*Interlude*Music2**Music2**Music1**Music2**Music2**Music1**Music2*
*Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch**Watch*

Finally, I can get back to relaxing, reflecting, reading, writing.

My week went pretty good. I fell behind a bit in my e-commerce course, but I made great strides in the bathroom renovation. We now have a sink with hot and cold running water. No leaks...pretty good for a "first time plumber." It sure is going to be a nice room to, well... just to be in. Especially after I put the door back on. We are starting a new lifestyle change next week, in an effort to live better through being more health conscious. (Going on a diet *RollEyes*) During the past week we treated ourselves to sinfully delicious foods and snacks. Pretty much the best week of 2013 so far.

On to the prompt *PointRight* We have a good group of challengers this month. This is the largest group, since I have been involved. What I'm getting at is... I wasn't able to read every single entry, but I did read quite a few. I've even read a few of today's entries, which I rarely do, prior to writing my own entry. It's impossible to pick a favorite.
If I were pressured to give a response I think I have to go with this: Wordsmitty ✍️ always seems to have good responses to the prompts and he always provides well thought out and well expressed comments. If you're not careful...You just might Lern sumthin *Laugh*

Have a great week everyone.
Ta ta for now.

It's Creation Saturday!
Writing/blog prompt:"Design and write about what would be your ideal contest on WDC."

Hello, and welcome to "Creation Saturday"

This looks like a good opportunity to plug a contest that I'm partly a part of.

The Crazy Creative Colours Contest

** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

"Invalid Item

Having said that, now I'll share the ugly truth about contests on WDC. Strike that last sentence, it's too dramatic. The situation is not that ugly, and I'm not likely to stick to the truth.
By all means drop in on our contest. I share the page with Fi . Give us a couple days to set things up for 2013. Kasia is enjoying a summer vacation as she lives in the paradise land of New Zealand, and I'm busy blogging and renovating, not to mention a bit lazy. ( I said not to mention that.)

No matter what I do this text is bold. There goes 40 minutes I'll never get back.

Anyhow, give us a chance to get our act together then come and drop an entry in. It's that easy.

Now that I have that little bit of shameless self promotion out of the way, I'll share my true feelings and great ideas about contests on WDC.

WDC has far too many contests going on. I don't think that is such a bad thing, but it's just not for me.
Naturally the ideal contest is The Crazy Creative Colours Contest but I have an idea for a contest page on WDC.

My idea is to be a contest broker. It would work like this. An author would submit a written piece, along with a contribution of GP (A little something for the boys to have a beer on Fridays with.)
Then the contest broker would search out all of the contests that the piece would qualify for entry into, and enter the piece into all of the available contests. Thereby increasing the author's chances of winning a prize, as well as bolstering the entries of all the contest pages going.

Feel free to use this idea. It may even already exist, hidden amongst multitudes of contests.
I've got a bathroom door to plane.
Bye for now.

It's Funny Friday!
Writing/blog prompt:
"Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it."
~Bill Cosby
Discuss the above quotation and whether or not you believe the same.

[Embed For Use By Upgraded+]

I love Bill Cosby, (In a sense) he is one of my favorite entertainers. I love the fact that he has remained, "Family friendly" and wholesome.
He is incredibly talented, educated, and continues to be a positive example of a successful celebrity entertainer.

When I was a young teen on a few occasions I babysat my two young cousins, Erica and Carl. We had some fun evenings together. One of the activities we liked to do,
or at least the kids made me think we ALL were having fun, was to play "Bill Cosby's comedy album (33 &1/3 LP Record.) We played the song, "Hooray for the Salvation Army Band"
and we marched, parade style, around the basement, or at least the kids made me think they were parading behind me. Fun times!!!

I'm going on record as being 100% no 110% in agreement with this statement. And, I'm not just saying that so I don't, hmmm, how was that again? Oh yeah... completely circumvent coming out with a direct answer to the prompt's question leaving it all for the reader to figure it out while chuckling along.

So yeah, I wouldn't want to get in the habit of doing that. Wood eye?

I would add to this discussion, my feelings of how memories of fun times and of funny incidents, will get you through tough times. It's good to have these memories to draw on, because sometime, (these days) some things are just not funny. During these times, it's the memories of good times that will help in the healing process and allow people to believe that there are good times ahead.

Have a great week-end.

It's Opinion Thursday!
Writing/blog prompt: "Do you believe that incorrect spellings and grammar are acceptable in creative forms such as poetry?"

Well, hello again.

Peeps so rarely axe me for my opinion anymore.
"Please stop sharing your opinion with us," Joel. That's what I get.
Closer friends are comfortable with telling me to STFU, as the new "Computer Speak" slips away into the great cyber abyss, with our ability to spell words out.
My opinion I give to you freely, however, I am not authorized to say what is acceptable to the Grammar Gods. I am but a lowly minion with an opinion.

Maybe you've seen a few articles that circulate online, where there are statements written with no vowels in the text...but you can still read the text.
There is one that has the letters in the center of each word scrambled, and you can still read it. So, I would say it doesn't really matter how you write, as long as someone can make out what you're trying to say.

I was sent a story, written by a newby to WDC, and asked to review it. I read the first few lines of the story then I skipped ahead to read other reviews. The reviews were horrible, and the writer made comments back defending his style of writing. His writing was a total re-creation of the written language. This fellow omitted punctuation completely from his writing in an effort to save time. He also limited his use of the space bar. In my review I complimented him on his courage to take his own direction in his writing style, but I also confessed that I didn't read more than the first couple lines. (which were difficult to make out what he was trying to say.) In closing I suggested to this person...If you are happy to write for yourself, then go ahead and writing the way you enjoy writing, but if you're writing to be read, you'll have to write for your readers to enjoy reading.

Poetry is a little different, because poets are a messed up bunch. I'll leave that for another day.

Check this...
Eye waz scent a story rote by a dude.
I rote a review, I tried knot 2 B rude.
His werdz were amuck.
WTF

   O M G !   Look   at   the   time!

I've got a hockey game to watch. Team Canada vs Team USA in the World Junior Hockey Tournament.

C ya.

Writing/blog prompt: "If you could give any person in the world one gift (money and time are no obstacle), who would you pick and what would you give them?"

Good morning post apocalypse survivors, friends, bloggers and friends of bloggers.

Happy Birthday Emily Em is now 18 years old. Wow!! I'm wearing clothes older than that. (seriously)
Emily (Em) is a pretty amazing young lady, we are truly blessed to be a little part of her life on this site and in this group.
Em reminds me of my own daughter, who is in her third year of university. It is so inspiring to see young motivated people who have their whole life in front of them and are dedicated to becoming successful and positively contributing members of society. When ever I think of Em, I think of how proud her parents and family must be of her.
Happy Birthday Em!!

Well, it's not my birthday today, so it looks like I'll put in another day of giving. Speaking of giving, I think I'll give today's prompt a shot.

Perhaps I've been around too long. My welcome wore out a while back, and these prompts are beginning to double and triple up. There is a temptation to copy and paste from past blog entries, but blog entries are like garbage, after a while they start to stink. Mine stink, a lot sooner, so I'll elect to keep it fresh.

I saw an awesome gift with-in the prompt itself. (money and time are no obstacle) Would that not be an amazing gift to give or receive?

I would love to be able to give the gift of, "Unlimited Time and Money" to everyone. Pity that the prompt limits the gift giving to only one person.
Without a doubt, the most deserving person (In my life) and the person I would most want to give this gift to, would be my mother. Everything I have, all my gifts, my entire being, were all given to me, freely, by mom. Unlimited Time and Money, would be the perfect gift for my mom, we would all benefit from her having these two items. Mom would share her money with who ever needed it, and have unlimited time to do it. Win - Win

It's time to take my blog entry to the curb.
Thanks for coming out.
See you tomorrow.

Writing/blog prompt: "Write about the area of your writing you would most like to improve."

Hello Everyone
Happy New Year!!!
What's new in 2013?
Well, I survived the end of the world again. It looks like there were a lot of survivors.
I'm still pretty much up to my arm pits in alligators as far as life goes, and I haven't made any New Year's Resolutions again.
I do however intend to make major life style changes as the year unfolds, and I'm also determined to broaden my horizons and see more of the world. What I really mean when I say that is: The world is going to see more of me. Sorry, I thought I was going somewhere with that.

Moving on.

What's new? I have a new laptop. Learning windows eight is pretty hard. I'm confused as to how they can consistently make things more complicated in an effort to make it simpler. They must aim for "Clearer and Faster" but it always turns out "Confusinger and Slower" but I will prevail and \\i will get used too this keyboard.....&%^&$1&. It took me fifteen minute to find the shut down thingy.

On to the prompt...I would more likely have to change my attitude towards writing in the first place before I could have a sensible answer to this question. I've been holding out hope that the writing gods would some day ease up on their rules. Perhaps give a little room to writers for artistic expression. We would see the use of more words like confusinger, and grammar could have more options. They could have made punctuation more random, but no. The grammar gods won't budge so I'm forced to learn to properly communicate. I should take this opportunity to thank "Spell Check"

I do have a couple areas of my writing that I want to work on. The first is Punctuation and Grammar. (Yes, I realize that is two areas.) I am a "New Horizons" - "Punctuation Station" drop out. Right now I'm hoping to have the time to re-enroll in Miss Pat's class next term, or next term after that. The second area has to do with my tendency to write run on sentences, that seem to go on for ever and never really say anything of any importance to anyone who would possibly take the time to read what ever it is I'm going on about, which isn't a very good style of writing, unless you like that sort of thing, but I'm trying really really really hard to not do that so much any more after this.

I'm out of time again, but it's been fun getting here.
Good luck to everyone in the challenge this month.

Writing/blog prompt: What are your thoughts/ beliefs about U.F.O.'s and whether or not intelligent life exists on other planets?

I have on three occasions witnessed what can only be described as UFO's. I think UFO's are exactly what their name implies...unidentified.
I have found, what I think is one of the best answers to the first question of this prompt. This is an excellent video. I've shared it before, but if you haven't seen it, it is certainly worth a view.

[Embed For Use By Upgraded+]

As per the second question of the prompt. I don't believe there are other planets that support intelligent life, which is a good thing, otherwise I'm sure we (us earthlings) would likely be the lesser intelligent of the bunch. Just watch the news for half an hour and you will have to agree with me.
I've heard the argument many times that, it is ignorant, and closed minded to believe that we are the only intelligent life forms in all of the universe. But I look at it like this. Every other discovered planet in our galaxy and others can not support life. They may have at one time, but like us...the time in which the planet supported living beings of any kind, was during a brief moment in the history of the planet.

Monty Python answers the question better than anyone.

Very clever, Mr.\Mrs. Prompt Writer. You asked the ONE question I dreaded.
I guess, I have no other choice, but to confess.
There's no easy way to do this, so I'll just come right out and say it.

Hello there.
A very merry Christmas to you.
Thanks for dropping by. I've learned a lot over the past 20 odd days. The Christmas season is a very busy time of year. Brother Nature told me that I would have time to write a blog, perhaps he has finally lost his mind. Speaking of Brother Nature I should share a little news that I know he would be too modest to mention. Joel, aka Brother Nature had one of the stories he wrote published. 1969 Christmas Play, which is a non fiction story about a school Christmas play and it's production. Was published in the winter issue of "Shadows Express Magazine" http://www.shadowexpress.com/
A story about Christmas published just before Christmas, and it's a "First." Isn't that what Christmas is all about? Spreading "Good News!"

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is decorating. All the hustle and bustle in preparation for the coming event. It is also a spiritual experience, we can reflect on how Joseph and Mary, and their families and everyone really, prepared for the arrival of Christ our Lord.

Another part of Christmas I love is that it's a time where there is a spirit of love, giving, and good cheer present. There are so many parts of Christmas that I have always enjoyed.

Writing/blog prompt: Optimist, pessimist, or realist - which one are you?

Okay! Today is the day I find out, what I'm all about.

I honestly have to describe myself as a realist with pessimistic tendencies, but I'm looking forward to a reduction in cynical thoughts, so I guess that makes me an optimist.

If I am trying to sell something to someone, I'm an optimist. I assume the sale, and picture my customer taking out their wallet to pay.

If someone is trying to sell me something, I'm a pessimist. I picture my wallet, and not having enough money in it to pay. (A realistic outcome.)

I think a person has to be all three, as well as several others, so... I guess that makes me a realist.

The question is...Do I balance all of these traits or do I lean one way or another? Can I juggle them brilliantly, or do I drop the odd one, or toss them in random directions?

One thing I'm certain of is...It's better not to think to much about things. Know what I mean?

Take care my friends.
