For those of you in the US, this week is our Thanksgiving holiday. Write your blog today as yourself in the future. What will you thank yourself for doing? Who and what else are you thankful for in your life?

Gratitude Is An Attitude

"Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity..."
Bahá’u’lláh3

"Gratitude is an attitude", I'm not sure who said that. I've heard and read this quote numerous times over the past several years. I've found that "Gratitude's Attitude" applies to every area of my life under all circumstances. Baha'u'llah encourages us to show and express gratitude under all conditions, which makes sense since gratitude is a spiritual attribute. Gratitude for what we have makes facing adversity, tests, and difficulties easier. It, also, helps us to see beyond the present situation or problem to find a solution. If we can't see a solution, gratitude helps us to put the problem in God's hands.

I attempt to make a gratitude list everyday in "Writing in Snow. Sometimes I have difficulties finding five things to be grateful for everyday, and, when I do, I increase the number of items on my gratitude list the next day. I used to make a gratitude list once a week, on Thankful Thursday; however, I find it easier to find five things a day to be thankful for rather than ten things once a week.

What would I thankful for in myself in the future? At 71, I'm not worried about the future. At this point, I'm more interested in daily survival, paying bills, rent, and avoiding an overdraft in my checking account. Today my checking account isn't overdrawn; however, it will be after Monday or Tuesday. I can't contact either the Bank or Cox until Monday. There is nothing I can do about it today--this is my own fault--I will continue to pray instead of worry. Worry doesn't help find a solution; however, prayer does.

What will I be doing in the future? Practicing an attitude of gratitude, praying, writing, and surviving. I can find a solution. I have to refocus my mind on something besides the problem, because focusing on the problem only increase worry and distracts from finding a solution. What I would really like to do is move into a senior community; unfortunately, I can't afford the cost. I can barely afford where I'm living now. I will move to a smaller apartment because the new owner of the property I'm living at will raise the rent. The one bedroom I'm moving to isn't any cheaper. Since I've managed to make this entry into a partial rant, I'm going to list the things I'm grateful for before I finish.

Gratitude List

*BulletV* I am thankful for the prayers revealed by Baha'u'llah.
*BulletV* I am thankful for the prayers revealed by The Bab.
*BulletV* I am thankful for the adversities, tests, and difficulties that have strengthened my faith and taught me about myself.
*BulletV* I am thankful for the still small voice that whispers to me after I have said a prayer about a problem I am attempting to solve. The voices says "It's going to be alright!"
*BulletV* I am thankful that I am learning to say "No".

Only 66% of 18-24 year olds in the US are certain the Earth is round. Thoughts?

What shape does the other 34% of 18-24 year olds think the Earth is? Is this 34% members, or potential members, of the Flat Earth Society? Does this group think Earth is shaped like a Rubik's Cube? Have they ever gotten off their smartphones long enough to look at the horizon and watch the sun rise or set? Did this 34% fail science or astronomy class? I don't think they come be from another planet, because they would have noticed the shape of the Earth from the flying saucer or whatever means of interstellar or interplanetary transportation they used to get here.

Do you know what the scariest thing about the 34% of the 18-24 year olds that "question" the shape of the Earth? They are votes, or potential voters! These are part of the generation who will be running this country for decades to come. If any of them get into a political office, America will be screwed worse than it already is. If they don't believe that the Earth is round neither do they believe in climate change.

At 18, people are old enough to take responsibility for their own opinions. They are old enough to ask questions about the things they were taught by their parents and other adults in their lives. One of the problems is lack of critical thinking being taught by parents or in the schools. However, a person can learn to think critically, after they leave home or graduate from high school. It's difficult to learn how to think critically later in life, but it isn't impossible. Individuals need the right incentive or epiphany of some type to begin an independent search for knowledge.

Have you ever had a lucid dream? What was it about? If you could control your dreams, what would you want to spend your dreams doing?

Most of the time, about 95% of the time, I know that I'm dreaming. The dreams that I remember have some sort of significance--either spiritual, educational, or creative--to my waking life. I've found, through meditation and prayer, that even the nightmares have something to teach me. I don't worry about the dreams I don't remember, because I don't think they are significant.

"I beseech Thee, by the potency of Thy will and the compelling power of Thy purpose, to make of what Thou didst reveal unto me in my sleep the surest foundation for the mansions of Thy love that are within the hearts of Thy loved ones, and the best instrument for the revelation of the tokens of Thy grace and Thy loving-kindness."
Bahá’u’lláh4

That is the second paragraph in one of the morning prayers revealed by Baha'u'llah. I can access this prayer through the Baha'i Prayer app on my smartphone, it's the third prayer under the Morning prayers, so when I wake up I don't have to turn on a light or find my Prayer Book to read the prayer. I can also access Notes on my phone to write down the important aspects and/or symbols of the dream.

When I interpret my dreams, I first look at what the symbols mean to me. I write that down and, if something is still unclear, I check the traditional meaning of the symbols online. Some of my dreams I have written about in "Dreams of Snow .

It's time for another prompt from the War Chest! Take a stab at this one:
Share your first experience with love. No ... not like that.

I remember the name of my first love, it was Tommy Joe. I was around six at the time, and in the first grade. For some inexplicable reason, my mother let me name my youngest brother after him. I think Mom let me name my brother because I ask her if I could name him. Even though I don't remember what he looked like, I still think fondly of my first love.

"If you do what you really want to do, you feel like you're playing." - Stan Lee (1922-2018).
Stan Lee passed away yesterday, Monday November 12th. What is your opinion of superhero movies? Were Stan's stories a part of your life?

I remember reading superhero comic books. I remember watching superhero shows on television. I've watched some of the superhero movies, but not all of them. I see nothing wrong with reading about superheros, watching them at them on television, or watching them in a movie theater. Superheroes are part of the American--and possibly the world--entertainment culture. I see them as enjoyable, escapist entertainment that shows both the best and the worst of human beings.

Stan Lee was a creative and influential individual, who found a way to make a living doing something he enjoyed. His talent consisted of entertaining a lot of people, while giving hope to a few people. Stan Lee was an ordinary man, who found an extra ordinary way to escape--at least for an hour or so--from their mundane existence. His talent encouraged many young men and women to develop their own talents through graphic novels, comic books, and movie making.

According to Wikipeda, Stan Lee5 grew up in a Jewish family. In 2002, when someone ask him if he believed in God, he said: "Well, let me put it this way... [Pauses.] No, I'm not going to try to be clever. I really don't know. I just don't know."6 So, his spiritual path was that of an agnostic. Whatever his spiritual path, he practiced his chosen profession with such joy and reverence that it could be considered worship of the Almighty.

In every photo I see
of Stan Lee
he is smiling:
the sign of a man
who enjoys his work.

"A ship is safe in harbor, but that is not what a ship was built for." - William H. Shedd. Reflect on this quote in any way you choose.

I like this quote. It's a good Motivational Monday quote. It's encouraging and encourages a person to think about both safety and work. When I think about the safety part, I realize that there isn't any real safety in this world because even a ship in a harbor can be destroyed by a hurricane or a tsunami. People can do their best to make life safe, but accidents, human caused disasters, or natural disasters happen. If we worry about what could happen, we cause ourselves more problems and the things we worry about rarely occur.

One thing I never worry about is moving, which I should. If I worried about moving there's a good chance I'd never have to move again. However, since I don't worry about it I end up moving; I hate moving. Right now my ship is in the process of moving from a two bedroom apartment to a one bedroom. This means getting rid of a bunch of stuff, I haven't had room for since I moved out of the three bedroom house into the studio apartment. I drug it from the studio, to the two bedroom, and now I'm moving to a one bedroom. I have to get rid of the stuff because there isn't enough room for unnecessary stuff in the one bedroom.

It's a beautiful day
to sail away
some place nice and warm.

One thing good about the one bedroom is the air conditioner can blow both cold and hot air. The one in this apartment has only cool air. Cool air is alright for summer, but not for winter. In autumn and winter it gets cold here in Las Vegas. It could have gotten below freezing, I don't know because I haven't checked the temperatures and I don't want to check them. I really don't care to know if the temperature dropped below freezing before winter solstice.

Search for and read a recent news story from a country other than your own. (EDIT: or from your own country *Smile* ) Share any thoughts/opinions/commentary you have on the article.

"Fighting in Yemen city of Hodeidah reaches residential streets"7

The cease fire, demanded by Yemen's allies, is being ignored by the nations Saudi Arabia backed government. Fighting has moved into the streets of Hodeidah, putting more of Yemen's citizens at risk of death through because of collateral damage, lack of medical care, and starvation. Since 80% of the aid sent to Yemen comes through Hodeidah everyone in this country is at risks of famine.

The grain mills, south of this port city, were taken by pro-coalition troops on Saturday. According to the UN spokesperson in Yemen, the mills contain about "51,000 tonnes of wheat"8. So far, shelling had not damaged the silos, but the production of flour has stopped. Ali Reza Qureshi9 says: “We hope production will resume in the coming next two weeks as we get 21,000 tonnes monthly from those mills. Otherwise we will have to import wheat flour.”

Bodies in the street,
and citizens on the verge of starvation:
all humanity suffers when one fragment of it suffers.

The international community is planning to send food assistance in an attempt “to avert mass starvation”.10 However, if food assistance is, for some reason, prevented over 14 million people face death because of famine.

Humanity is a single species,
humanity is an interconnection race,
everyone on the planet is threatened
when part of the species is threatened.

I am not going to refer to the fighting in Yemen as a war because it is only one of the battles occurring the the twenty-first century version of the World War that has been fought on Earth since World War I. The battle in Yemen will eventually end. The question is "Who will win?" Will the citizens and humanity win or will one of the governmental factions win. If the latter is the case, the factions will continue to fight each other, while killing more civilians than troop casualties.

The "Blogging Circle of Friends prompt for DAY 2183
November 10 is National Forget-MeNot Day. Use this day or the flower to inspire your blog entry.

I am a Forget-Me-Not,
a Myosotis,
Growing in a garden plot.

A Forget-me-not is a beautiful and delicate flower. It is either an annual or a perennial species. It is said to be the tears of a maiden weeping for her love a knight, who slipped into the water of a stream and couldn't get out because of the weight of his armor.11 That is a tragic and romantic story, which fits the look of the Forget-Me-Not.

The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise prompt for Day 1790
Sunday is Veteran's Day, let's honor the men and women who have served by mentioning either someone you know personally or a poem, a simple thank you letter, it's your blog you know what will work the best.{ Thank you to all the men and women who have served or are serving.

Veterans Day or Armistice Day marks the end of World War I.12 Today it is dedicated to remember the veterans of all the wars America has fought since the end of the First World War. While we are remembering the veterans who returned from war and served in the armed forces on America soil, we, also, need to remember the families of these men and women. We mention the sacrifices that veterans make, but we seldom mention the sacrifices their families make.

Do you consider blogging a form of personal essay writing? How are the two the same and different? Today, spend some time researching how to write a personal essay and, if you choose, take a stab at writing one of your own!

Is blogging a form of essay writing? Yes and no. I know that sounds like a paradox or a cop out, since blogs can cover any and every topic, its the only answer that makes sense to me. A blog post can cover an author's business, political beliefs, religious beliefs, hobby, life events, or anything else that strikes the author's muse. A blog entry can be formal or informal, like a personal essay. It can be written using any voice or point of view, although it is better to use a first person voice because readers are more likely to read, respond to, and follow one that uses a first person voice.

I recently posted a personal essay in "Memories of Snow "The Last Time I Saw My Grandfather giving one of the reasons I don't like open casket funerals. I prefer to remember a loved one, friend, or acquaintance as they looked in life rather than as they looked in a casket. This is, also, the reason I don't like going to "viewings of the body", and will avoid it if I can. While I don't intend to offend anyone, I think that open casket funerals and viewings of the body are barbarous.

I remember my Grandparents funerals, and the viewing of the bodies. When I was younger, I attended viewings of the body of the deceased. At one of the viewing, I don't remember which one, I had an epiphany. I looked at the face of the deceased, and realized that something was missing; that was not the person I knew before death. The facial features were the same, so it was the right body. It just that something was missing.

After leaving the funeral parlor, I went home read a prayer for the departed and meditated on the subject. The thing that was missing was the person's soul. The soul had ascended into the spiritual realm and left behind the body, the shell of its material and physical existence. Now if I go to a viewing or an open casket funeral, I will sign the book and talk to the family, but I won't look at the body.

Did you know? *Magnify* The veins of a blue whale are so wide, a 3 year old child could swim through them? *Shock2* Spend your blogging time today thinking about size. Scale is important in writing - how do you use it? If you're up for it, try examining something extremely small and describing it as if it were the size of a car. Can you get your readers to guess what you're describing?

“Don't Panic.”13 Size is relative. To human being a molecule is small, but to an atom a molecule is gigantic. Size is just a point of view, that is determined by the perception of the observer. A good example is the size of a spider, to most people a spider is a small eight-legged "bug". However, to anyone suffering from arachnophobia--and I know this from personal experience--a spider (any spider) is a huge eight-legged monster out to get them. Once I stop panicking, and realize that I am truly larger than the spider, I can find a weapon of some type of eridacate the monster.

Right now, I am reading The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, which is huge compared to the regular Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is huge because it contains five complete novels, a short story, and an introduction written by Douglas Adams. The wonderful thing about this book, besides being funny, is that it gives the reader some hint as to how large the galaxy really is compared to the size of the Earth.

So, “Don't Panic.” Grab your towel, because all professional Galactic Hitchhikers carry a large towel with them, and thumb down a flying saucer. Once you are aboard, ask the pilot or captain to take you to Ford Prefect. Ford Prefect is the roving reporter who updates the Hitchhiker's Guide and this Guide sells better than the Encyclopedia Galactica. The Encyclopedia Galactica, is larger and more expensive than the Hitchhiker's Guide, but it doesn't always give all the information a Galactic Hitchhiker needs. Which goes to prove that bigger is not always better.

You've made it a full week! Congratulations! Today I want to know, what do YOU think makes a good blogger? What are characteristics that make you want to read someone else's blog? If you were judging your own blogging ability, how would you rate yourself? What aspects of blogging are most important to you?

"I blog,
therefore I am!"

Unknown Blogger

What makes a good blogger? I don't know! Bloggers blog for different reasons. Some want to get their ideas out into the world. Some want to make money off of the knowledge they have acquired through research and experience. Some want to share their creative efforts. Different bloggers blog for different reasons. Some of them are good, while others are mediocre or bad. Some improve with practice, while others don't. I suspect that a good blogger is one who has lots of followers, and gets lots of comments on blog posts.

What are characteristics that make me want to read someone else's blog? I look at the title to see if it arouses my curiosity. Next I look at the blogger's name, to determine if I read an entry before. If the title of the entry grabs me, I'll read. If I can't remember reading the author in a while, or I haven't read that person I'll read the entry. Sometimes, instead of writing a comment, I will click on like because I can't think of a comment at the time.

How would I rate myself? I won't rate myself. I write. I share quotes and poetry. I attempt to plan an entry the night before I compose it; however, sometimes nothing comes to mind. Even if I plan the entry, or write a rough draft in my pen and paper journal, I usually end up writing the entry without consulting my plan or the rough draft. If I use the rough draft, I rewrite it and it looks different after the rewrite. My approach to blogging is intuition, because I find that less inhibiting.

What aspects of blogging are most important to me? The writing and the responses.

Wednesdays are the days I get to pull a prompt from the “Challenge War Chest!” These are prompts that have been suggested by bloggers over the years. Today’s prompt is: The color green. What do you associate with the color green and how does it make you feel?

Green is the color of life,
and the trees in paradise:
It reminds me of the unity
of humanity.

"The utterance of God is a lamp, whose light is these words: Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch. Deal ye one with another with the utmost love and harmony, with friendliness and fellowship. He Who is the Daystar of Truth beareth Me witness! So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth. The one true God, He Who knoweth all things, Himself testifieth to the truth of these words."
Bahá’u’lláh14

Green is the tree of humanity,
verdant with the hues of love,
bearing fruits of many colors,
Children of the Almighty,
and children of the planet Earth.

I wrote the following poem several years ago about the humanity's unity and its origins in Africa. This poem is, also, posted in "Devotional Poetry. To me, green symbolizes humanity as a single species, a single tree, that spread from Africa to migrate across the planet. I believe the story of humanity's creation in the Christian Bible and other holy books was intended to symbolize the unity of the human race, and explain it in a way that could be understood by the people those sacred scriptures were revealed to. In this day, Baha'u'llah has reemphasized the unity of humanity by referring to it as the fruits and leaves of on tree.

I

Within the mist of time
the reason hides
that first caused our migration
out of Africa,
and generated evolution's color change.

II

Africa,
         the Motherland,
out of her rich soil their grew a tree,
whose boughs and branches overshadowed planet Earth.

         A tree,
whose exquisite blossoms
produce humanity's finest fruits.

Talk Tuesdays are an opportunity for bloggers to share their opinions and engage in meaningful dialog with those you may not agree with. It is especially important to remember to comment! The judges are checking! Today, share your opinion on cloning (animal or human). What about if human tissue is used to create artificial organs for transplant? Share your thoughts!

I have no objection to cloning organs. This is a wonderful scientific breakthrough, because it gives medical science a wider range of organs to transplant. There are people out there waiting for an organ donor, who have been waiting for years, and may die while on the waiting list. Cloned organs will solve the issues of available organs and the possibility of the organ being rejected. Real organs, not artificial organs, can be cloned from the patients own cells, which could cut down on the rejection issues. The down side to cloned organs is the cost, this could be prohibitive to middle and lower income individuals or families.

I am opposed to cloning human beings because I believe that the soul and physical body become partners when sperm and egg mate. Therefore, I don't think that a cloned human would have a soul. As for cloning the lower animals, I'm not opposed to it. I don't see the need for it unless it is to save an endangered species or the animal being cloned has special significance to humanity and not just few people.

The prompt for DAY 2179
Write about Emptiness

Emptiness

Experience
         the emptiness of a poem;
         the emptiness that echoes
across the dark aeons of interstellar space.

Experience
         the silence between the words;
         the silence that reverberates
through the dim epoch of intergalactic space.

Experience
         the distance between the character;
         the distance that vibrates
across the ebony seasons of cold hydrogen.

Bust those Monday blues with Motivational Monday! *Bigsmile* Share a motivational quote and why it inspires you. If you do not have a specific quote, share a story about a person, object, or place that inspires you.

As someone who suffers from depression on a semi-regular basis, I'm somewhat sure that the blues has very little to do with motivational quotes. Depression, the blues, or brown study (whatever you want to call it) is a mental health issue, which can be dealt with in several ways. I don't take antidepressants. Over the years, I have discovered the triggers that send me into a depression episode. One of those triggers is the negative voice of fear that says "You screwed up again!" This occurs when I suspect that I did something wrong, and I can't find a way to right it.

I've found that the best way to deal with this voice is to say the following prayer revealed by 'Abdu'l-Baha, and move forward. If I don't move forward the depression will lead to paralyzing fear, which causes me to procrastinate and over-think the situation. I usually find that what I was worrying about or afraid of was an episode of vain imaginings. If, by some off chance, it turns out that I really do have something to worry about I can now deal with it calmly without worry.

"O God! Refresh and gladden my spirit. Purify my heart. Illumine my powers. I lay all my affairs in Thy hand. Thou art my Guide and my Refuge. I will no longer be sorrowful and grieved; I will be a happy and joyful being. O God! I will no longer be full of anxiety, nor will I let trouble harass me. I will not dwell on the unpleasant things of life.

O God! Thou art more friend to me than I am to myself. I dedicate myself to Thee, O Lord."
‘Abdu’l-Bahá15

Sundays are our chance here to reflect and look ahead. Today, I want you to reflect on your time on Writing.Com - Do you remember being a Newbie? What first attracted you to WDC and what made you stay? How have you grown as a writer in the time you've been a member here? Take this chance to look ahead as well - where will your writing journey take you in 5-10 years?

It was a slow and boring day in the computer lab at the Henderson Campus of the Clark County Community College, now the Community College of Southern Nevada. We--the glorified Teaching Assistance, who worked in the computer lab answering students questions or assisting them to find the answers they needed--were doing busy work. We crawled under the computer desks to make sure the electrical cords were tucked up away from the students feet. We had dusted the desks for about the third or fourth time that morning. We had cleaned the computer monitors for the fifth or sixth time. Now we were taking turns patrolling the room, watching the front desk, and working at one of the student computers in the lab. (I suspect the idea behind this last item was to make it appear that, at least, one student was using the equipment in the lab.)

It was October 31, 2002, Halloween and traditionally Nevada Day. This was the first year that year the College would not be closed on Nevada Day, because the State Legislator (in all its wisdom) had decided that Nevada Day should be celebrated on the Last Friday in October. The logic behind this decision was to give the state employees a three day weekend.

It was my turn to pretend to be a student using the lab. I was surfing the Internet after doing some research for a class I was taking. I typed in the word stories, and received a link to stories.com. I clicked on it, logged in as a guest, and decided to become a free member that day. I posted some of my writing, got positive and encouraging feedback, found out I could use gift points to upgrade my membership, and decided to I would do my best to keep my basic membership and even increase my membership level.

The Creation Saturday prompt: I recently took a class in Nature Journaling. For this Creation Saturday, find a place to sit outdoors (or at a window) and observe what your see, feel, smell, and hear. Record your observations in any form you choose (poem, monologue, short story, drawing, personification of the animal you're watching, etc)
.
Nature Journaling in the City

Watching nature in my section of Las Vegas consist of opening my front door and watching the pigeons scavenge in the street, along the curb. In fall and winter, stepping outside, looking up at Mount Charlestons, and commenting on whether or not it snowed last night. On windy days, I can listen to the palm fronds whispering or the palm tree beards rustling. When it rains, I listen to the splat of rain drops on the blacktop street or cement sidewalk. All yearlong there are sparrows, pigeons, and blackbirds nesting in the oak, pine, olive, and palm trees.

Pigeons scavenging
trying to survive in the city
on the discards of civilization.

I looked out my door this morning,
and went outside to look up at Mount Charleston.

No snow on The Mountain,
no pigeons scavenging in the street,
no wind caressing the trees,
and no humans awake.

Somewhere a dog backs:
I miss the house on Bracken Avenue,
with its grassy backyard,
oleanders,
half dead elm tree,
dying pine tree,
and the neighbors oak tree.

I miss
its poetic inspiration,
as I reread "Summer Scene".

Summer Scene:
Written when Mom and I lived
on Bracken Avenue

White blossoms are caressed by summer's wind,
Dancing through green oleander limbs.

Moved by the zephyr's invisible hand,
Litter migrates across verdant land.

Stroked by the wind,
Green leaves dance on an oak's brown limbs.

Like the call of an ancient bird,
The buzz of propellers can be heard.

A lizard on the stone wall's gray rim,
Tests summer's scent laden wind.

A jet engines soothing roar,
Across the cloud scattered sky soars.

Planted on the stone wills rim,
Wrought iron buds stand tall in the wind.

From beyond the iron rimmed stone wall,
Insects sing their mating call.

A dead leaf is carried by the wind,
From an elm tree's half-living limbs.

The Fun Fact Friday prompt: Did you know that butterflies taste with their feet? *Butterfly2O* Do you think taste is an under-utilized sense in writing? Reflect on how taste can be better utilized in your writing to enhance a scene.

Butterfly feet taste
the sweet secrets of flowers.

I'm grateful I'm not a butterfly, because tasting with my feet would make it difficult to eat my favorite foods. Most of my favorite foods are comfort foods. Some of those are Southern fried chicken, soft tacos, and deep fried ice cream. I think I've used foods in several stories, but I don't think--at least, I don't remember--describing the taste. Nor do I remember reading tastes described in any of the stories or novels I've read. So to answer the question: "Do you think taste is an under-utilized sense in writing?" Yes, taste is an under-utilized sense in many stories.

When I took a creative writing course at the Community College of Southern Nevada in 2001, one of the assignments was to write a paragraph describing my favorite meal. I described the meal that my Grandmother served for dinner on Sunday. I came across a hard copy of that assignment a couple of days ago. In this paragraph I described--or attempted to describe--the taste.

The golden brown fried chicken, framed by mashed potatoes and gravy on one side and creamed corn and creamed green beans on the other, took up 1/4 of the plate that set in front of me. I picked up a leg, its course rough texture reminded me of dried bread crumbs brushed with olive oil. Rising from the chicken leg was the scent of a hot summer wind blowing acros a patch of wild rosemary. I bit into the leg, and it crunched like footsteps on new fallen snow. The warm flesh melted in my mouth, dissolved into the subtle savors of black pepper, slat, and hot oil flavored with basil, marjoram, and thyme.
I wrote this in February of 2001.
