My random thoughts and reactions to my everyday life. The voices like a forum.
I do not know quite what happened or when , but my hubby and I now qualify for seniors' discounts at some venues. This creates a quandary; in order to save money, but not face, we have to admit to our age. HMMMM..... We definitely do not consider ourselves to be old. In this day and age ,when people as a whole are living longer and healthier lives why are 'young seniors', those in their fifties, like moi, considered 'old'?? It's so true that age is just a perception! "Maturity" is very objective/subjective, and I object! Whew, a few years have skittered by since I composed this biography block. Those "fifties" are in the rear view mirror and they are distant, fond memories. Oh, I do not plan to stop writing any time soon.

We're going to get a little of those Austin City Lights

https://www.songkick.com/concerts/32541514-erasure-at-austin-city-limits-live-at...

We're seeing Erasure and Reed and Caroline. Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater, Austin, TX, US
I've not heard either one of the groups so we're all in for an experience. I'm hoping we'll find our missing in action Warped Sanity- Thanks Schnujo and drag her and Joe out for the night.

We're doing it up fancy this evening. We're staying at

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g30196-d98453-Reviews-Omni_Austin_Hotel...

We're going to check out Wild About Music and then split up for whatever else catches your eye before the concert. I would like everyone to see Wild Music, afterall that's our goal to expand our musical tastes. Yay Groupies!

Wow, we really are hopping from state to state. Now, we gather in Austin, Texas, I expected this would be another country concert, but no, Lyn's a Witchy Woman has surprised me. Tonight's acts have never been on my radar, so I anticipate hearing something different.
Wasn't that a blast exploring that quirky store Wild About Music? It's outer sign definitely warned me that it was also a guitar gallery. As if I could've ignored all of those guitars prominently displayed everywhere. Of course, it's the instrument for so many genres of music. I was not tempted to purchase any of the western wear, too gaudy for me. I'm a t-shirt gal and I certainly noticed a plethora of them.
What a strange name for a theater, The Moody. Kinda glad it didn't become my surname. Imagine going through life known as that moody girl? Anyway, like the other venues we've visited, this is a place packed with people, people ready to party.
So, the duo from London, England were interesting. Their name 'Erasure' is enigmatic. Are they implying that we not listen with any pre-conceived ideas? Erase all you think you know about music. I confess I read a short bio, and their style is described as synthpop. Okay..... Anyway, this is their World Be Gone Tour. They must've created numerous tours since they began in 1985. I liked their danceable style, and the singer, Andy Bell has a pretty good voice. They are fond of lasers and lights. I fancied 'A Little Respect' and 'Ship Of Fools'.
The second act this evening did not appeal to me at all. Reed&Caroline produce techno music, and I hear it as sound effects . Many of their lyrics were repetitive. I did love and appreciate the crowd's energy.

Gordon Lightfoot is who we're seeing this evening. Bob Dylan calls Gordon Lightfoot one of his favorite songwriters - a fine tribute to a legacy that is still being written. In a career spanning nearly 40 years, the Canadian folk legend has recorded over 200 songs, written many more, and influenced the sound of so many highly successful artists. Carly - 5 Years! a homie for you.

We're staying at Nashville Jellystone Campgrounds for the night.

We're going to have a good time at the campground, who's up for a barbecue?
Whew! I feel like a tumbleweed rolling wherever the wind takes me. Now I'm in Nashville, Tennessee. I suppose groupies don't stop to catch their breath. They live in the moment.
So, tonight we experience all that is the incomparable Gordon Lightfoot, a fellow Canuck. Of course, I recognize his music. I have been listening to it all my life. Once again, these are tunes that I've heard everyday. His songs garner a great deal of radio play. I catch a few opening notes, and I immediately begin to sing the lyrics. Monsieur Lightfoot has accompanied me on car excursions, weddings, dances, lazy hazy beach days, excruciatingly slow / frustrating waiting rooms, crowded elevators, and more.
Strange that I would witness him perform at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. He and I are both a long way from home. Incidentally, I currently reside in a tiny village within driving distance of Orillia, Ontario where ol' Gordon hails from. Also, he is a contemporary of my parents. . I will testify that Orillia is still a lovely scenic area. Not a bad place at all to grow up in.
I enjoyed his familiar songs. They speak of life. I shall list but a few pieces from his repertoire; 'Sundown', 'If You Can Read My Mind', 'Carefree Highway', 'Rainy Day People' and 'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald'.
Oh, I do love to camp! Crazy, eh? It's a relaxed environment. Strangers become friends. Campfires are excuses to share stories and laugh.
In this day and age, so many film others with their cell phones. I suspect our efforts to raise a few tents may be making the rounds of YouTube. Lyn's a Witchy Woman sure came in handy to hold up the central poles, height has its clear advantages. Apondia took charge and mapped out our site.Noyoki and 💙 Carly scrounged for some firewood, and it became a group effort to coax a fire to grace us with its warm presence.Warped Sanity and BlueMoon seem to love ghost stories. I'm impressed with the camp store at Jellystone Campground, it had all the fixin's for ooey, gooey s'mores. Wait, is this that Jellystone, the one with Yogi Bear and Boo Boo?

Really? Maybe just maybe I'm too mature to be a screaming, drooling groupie, but come on this is Adam! I first experienced a Maroon 5 concert a few summers ago in Toronto. Oh, it was divine! With my eldest grandgiggle, I stayed on my feet for hours. We whooped. We hollered. We belted out all the beloved lyrics. We shimmied. We danced. We applauded. That group knows how to entertain. Lyn's a Witchy Woman thank you!!!
So, this is The Red Pill Blues Tour.... and this is Canton, Ohio. Not too shabby...Front row seats, how incredible is this! The band is so energetic and electric.
Do I have a favourite song? Oh, they're all memorable. They are great to sing and lend themselves to bopping. Sigh.. okay, I really like 'Payphone'.Then again, 'Maps' and 'Sugar' appeal to me. I'm beginning to see the upside to being a groupie. Music does make the world go round, and Adam does turn my head.

4 different musicians, Enjoy!

PS Don't forget to link your post to mine, it makes it so much easier for me to find your entry. Thanks.
So, today we're in Denver, Colorado. Anybody else feel like singing 'Rocky Mountain High'? Wow, the scenery is breathtaking!
Jet lag, what jet lag? This is an adventure. Of course, I jumped at the chance to see Union Station, and shop at the 16th Street mall. I indulged myself and purchased a pair of cowboy, or more accurately, cowgirl boots. When in Rome... My ole flip flops needed a rest anyway. I draw the line at a big hat though.
Country music is on tonight's menu. Hmmm, I grew up with fans in my parents. I believe I know all the lyrics to every old cry-ass / hurtin'/ cheatin' country song ever warbled. I listened to Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, and more. Oh no, the words for 'Crystal Chandelier' are threatening to take over...
I strutted into the Mile High stadium feeling a wee bit light-headed. Maybe it was the mountain air, or my new footwear. It couldn't possible have been because of the tight jeans I'd squeezed myself into. I was ready for the What Makes You Country Tour.
I confess, I recognize Luke Bryan's name, but I am not familiar with his music. I stood to be educated. I liked his catchy tune 'Rollercoaster'. It told the tale of young love in the heat of summer.
Now Sam Hunt's songs I know. I love to belt out the lyrics to 'Body Like a Back Road' when I'm driving alone. I find it catchy, and kinda clever. I love his line, "I'mma take it slow just as fast as I can."
Morgan Wallen proved to be a pleasant surprise. His tune 'The Way I Talk' spoke to me. Hey, we all speak with some sort of accent and plenty of idioms. His philosophy is "I don't fight it I just roll with it." Americans claim that I say the word "about" as "aboot". I deny this, but then again I do not hear what they hear. I'm certain I pronounce "about" with the "ow", or "ouch" sound, not the "oo" of "shoe". Whatever, I definitely do not drawl.
John Pardi continued with the feel good music. His 'Dirt On My Boots' is catchy and danceable.
I really enjoyed the spontaneous line-dancing. It was so much fun! I got dirt on my new boots that's for sure.

We're going to take the train up from my home explore the town of Wantagh on Long Island before heading to the concert at Northwell Health. Jones Beach Theater is an outdoor amphitheater at Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh, New York. It is one of two major outdoor arenas in the New York metropolitan area. The weather is supposed to be perfect.

We're seeing Chicago and Reo Speedwagon this evening.

There are different historical things to see, hope something appeals to you. What's your favorite Chicago song? Reo Speedwagon?

We'll be taking the train back and crashing one more night before we leave this part of the U.S. Maybe Fivesixer ☮ will have time to join us.

So, we ventured to Long Island today. It must be quite the place if it produced an iced tea. I could drink one of those now. I forgot to ask for one while at the concert . I understood refreshments were available at the Jones Beach Theater, so, why didn't I ? Yep, I must've been agawkin' again. It's not especially easy to imbibe when one's mouth is perpetually agape. Oh, and when I wasn't oohing and aahing, I was singing, or talking.
Today's venue proved to be much smaller, or in concert lingo, more intimate. I do recall rubbing shoulders, and jabbing a few strangers today. The music just sweeps us along.
I certainly felt twinges of nostalgia. Both Chicago and Reo Speedwagon featured in my youth. Isn't it a marvel that we can hear familiar music and instantly remember the correct lyrics that accompany it? It's a reflex. Of course, listening to radio replays over and over contribute to that.
What Chicago tunes do I like? The short answer is all of them. They're all fantastic! As I write this, I am humming to myself. 'Saturday in the Park' is unforgettable. Then there's 'If You Leave Me Now'. Okay, okay, My mostest favouritest Chicago tune is..... drum roll please... 'Color My World', and I forgive them for mis-spelling "colour". ( Why, yes, I am Canadian.) It's melody is both beautiful and haunting. maybe I'm a sucker for instrumental moments especially those with a piano.
Reo Speedwagon has remarkable songs too. Again, it's impossible to choose just one favourite. 'Can't Fight This Feeling', 'Keep On Lovin' You', 'Take It On The Run', and 'Dream Weaver' recall high school dances. They were not only tunes to sing along with, but they were danceable too.
Lyn's a Witchy Woman , Warped Sanity ,💙 Carly , BlueMoon , Noyoki , and Apondia you sure can sing! I don't believe anyone dared to shush us.

Hope you caught a snooze on the plane cos we're going into Manhattan for the day after we land into Newark and then heading to Met Life Stadium to see Beyonce and Jay Z. Hope you brought your walking shoes because by the time this day is over your legs are going to know it. The On the Run II Tour is the second co-headlining stadium tour by American singer Beyoncé and rapper Jay-Z. It was officially announced on March 12, 2018, and began on June 6, 2018 in Cardiff. It is scheduled to end on October 4, 2018 in Seattle.

What's your take on Beyonce and Jay Z's music. Tell me your favorite and why. What did you think of the Big Apple? interact with the rest of the groupies. Have fun.

A car service is delivering your baggage to my home. Yup, we're crashing at my place. It ain't the Hilton but I don't think you'll be disappointed. I live in a 3 story townhouse, looking forward to sharing some scones and coffee with you in the morning after the concert.

GRRR!!! I had a wonderful, or so I imagined, blog post composed. I was caught off guard. It poof, vanished when I hit the save key. All I got was an error notice, as if that is a consolation! What happened? I'm not a quitter, but all my writing disappeared. So, in its place I suppose I will submit an abbreviated version...
Last night's highlights: Fun! There are now images indelibly planted in my memory.Warped Sanity You sure can move girl! 💙 Carly ,BlueMoon , Noyoki you gals can whoop and holler with the best of them! Lyn's a Witchy Woman and Apondia maybe you two can teach me how to whistle? I apologize to those I inadvertently spit on.
New York, The Big Apple? It's bigger than life. The word teeming comes to mind, and the crowds are throngs. Noise, traffic, people....it cannot be ignored. I almost became a decapitation victim 'cause I gawked and missed a wall meeting the escalator stairs. Yep, I cannot stare and walk at the same time.
The Met Life Stadium: immense! I cannot believe we found our seats when the website boasts 82, 500 of them. The security guard, bless his near-sightedness, asked to see my i.d. As if! Ah, it was most likely his attempt to battle the same-old same-old, but I chose to accept it as harmless flattery. Curiously, many patrons carried clear plastic bags. Is this a new fashion trend? Kinda practical, but no privacy at all.
Hey! Had I known, I woulda created a handheld sign to wave. Something like: 'Beyonce, do you blog?' or 'I'm a Canuck out of water'... Oh well...
Do I like Beyoncé music? Well duh...yes! My two grandgiggles and I love to bop and sing-along to Miss Beyoncé. Hmmm, imagine being recognized and known by just your first name... Anyway, I find her music catchy, danceable, fun.
'Single Ladies' is a family favourite. I like 'If I Were a Boy'. It mulls over a unique perspective. The boys and the girls are expected to behave/conform in different ways and they are not always fair. Who hasn't wondered about a role reversal?
I believe my legs are benefitting from all this stair-climbing and dancing. It's a great workout. Here's a Beyoncé song for us ladies, 'Run the World (Girls)'. Okay, I'm blogged out....

Hi Concert Junkies, are you ready to do 30 days straight of music, backpacking, and some hotels but don't expect high-end lodging we're stepping out of our comfort zone to become groupies? In the past we've talked about planes,or trains this time we're going to know it happened but it's not going to be discussed.

Rules are I'm going to tell you the venue and where we're sleeping and who the band is for the night. You need to find a song by them and blog about the song, the venue and your interaction with your groupie co-horts. Make it up anything goes when it comes to the interaction. The venue and song please make an effort to find something. Thanks.

http://www.ihg.com/holidayinnresorts/hotels/us/en/orlando/disfs/hoteldetail

From an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at The Lakeside Cafe to Cravings with coffee and sweet treats, we have a dining option for everyone. The Food Court features Subway, serving sandwiches & salads & our team cooks up freshly fired, hand-tossed pizza.

Breakfast at the hotel, some time at the waterpark, around the pool or taking a nap and then off to the concert. Have fun, we're going to be back very late.

The Social 54 North Orange Avenue and the band is Lydia, Jared and the Mill. If you google the The Social they show you Lydia and Jared and the Mill.

Well hello fellow groupies! I'm pleased to make your acquaintance. I don't know about y'all, but not so long ago I considered myself to be a Florida virgin. Yep, I thought I was the only North American who had never set foot in this southern state. I'm happy to report that like something similar in my past, hubby took care of this....twice. So, I'm thrilled to begin our August adventures in Florida.
Now, I'm not claiming to be completely innocent of concerts. I have attended a few in my lifetime. What I have never been is a groupie. I suppose there will be a learning curve, and why not? I have two feet and a pair of ears, so I'm equipped..
So, we're booked to stay at a Holiday Inn. Here in Canada that chain is no longer a budget motel. As my partner laments, "I only want to rent a room, not buy it." I am determined to partake of the amenities such as the waterpark.
Nothing bonds a group of travellers like water. We whooped and hollered repeatedly. I chose to see this as training our vocal cords for tonight's concert. We all let out hair down, or more truthfully it was pulled by the g-force of the slide drops. Maybe my whooshing catapults were aided just a little by my sunscreen. I certainly experienced the full slip and slide experience.
Tonight's concert venue certainly looked the part. Every bright light in Orlando must have been glaring at The Social. Crowds milled about in a steady roar of conversation. I didn't seem to be the sole person in flip flops. Several of the burly guards left their feet free to breathe. Maybe it was me. but they didn't seem as intimidating with their toes exposed.
The first act was an indie rock group with the moniker 'Lydia'. Um, the one poster I noticed featured three people of the male persuasion. Huh, okay.... after all, there once was a boy named Sue...
All those water slide stairs failed to exhaust me. The pumping music rejuvenated me, and I bopped. Wait, that's a wee bit archaic, isn't it? In all honesty, I actually swayed, and stomped. I don't describe myself as a dancer. I'd need grace and at least some coordination for that. I don't believe anyone noticed my attempts to move to the music.
Anyway, I strained to catch some of Lydia's lyrics. I like words. One of their songs had an intriguing title, 'From a Tire Swing'. Really? I heard them sing, " So we just stared at the sky from a tire swing with some water and whiskey." Okay, I'm assuming kids did not do this, but then again.... Most everyone has swung in a tire swing not doing anything other than enjoying the moment. I can relate to that carefree feeling.
The second act introduced themselves as Jared & The Mill. Hey, does Weird Al Jankovic know about these guys? One of them plays an accordion.
I found their music to be country-rock, and it struck a chord with me. I dunno, their lyrics appeal to me, and their voices just resonated. I especially enjoyed 'Life we Chose'. It spoke to relationship difficulties. "Hourglass inside of my bones Trapped inside a picture frame above your throat You were someone else when I was too....Weren't we someone else, wasn't I? Weren't you?"
It's strange how music washes away fatigue and worries.. I could've partied all night. I still cannot whistle. The other fans were experts. Perhaps by the end of this whirlwind adventure I will have learned to pucker with a purpose.

Fun Fact Friday! On this day in 1964, the game show Jeopardy debuted on NBC-TV. What are some of your favorite game shows? How do you think you'd make out on 'em?
My favourite game show is Whose Line Is It Anyway? The American version of this original series debuted in 1998 with comedian Drew Carey as the host. It was an improv show in which Carey assured the audience," the points don't matter." He asked fellow comedians to act out and create spontaneous skits and sight gags using props,. audience suggestions, and more. His cast of regulars Colin Mochrie, Wayne Brady, and Ryan Stiles were brilliantly hilarious! They named their different challenges: Scenes From a Hat, Greatest Hits, Props, Hoedown, Helping Hands, Questions Only, Let's Make a Date, Party Quirks, Weird Newscasters, Duet, and Song Styles.
My favourite episode ,which was not easy to choose because all of the episodes made me guffaw and chuckle, was the one in which the weight loss/diet/ exercise guru Richard Simmons guest starred. Drew challenged everyone to employ props, but Richard volunteered to be the props. Now Simmons was famous for being loud, flamboyant, energetic, and he cut quite the distinctive figure in his curly hair, hair band, shorts, and sequined tank top.
Carey set the skit's scene. He explained to his three comics and Richard that they were to pretend to be a couple on a luxury cruise liner making the most of a day of sunbathing, water sports, and entertaining. Colin and Ryan portrayed the couple while the other two, Richard and Wayne , were the living props.
Colin proceeded to use Richard as a telescope gazing into Richard's wide open eyes as he tilted his head. Then Wayne and Richard became a set of deck chairs . Colin directed his spouse Ryan to sit in the shiny deck chair aka Richard.. Obliging Simmons held his arms up as the chair's arm rests. He spooned Ryan, who jumped up exclaiming, "This one's wet." Then they decided to jet ski. Richard imitated the bouncing and jarring of a jet ski with his head bobbing up and down as Colin pretended to ride him. When Colin stepped away from his ride, he mimicked smoking a cigarette. Yes, Richard was campy and he enjoyed the physical closeness of the men. He embraced his guest role enthusiastically.
I still laugh when I watch YouTube clips of this program. One scenario had the comedians rethinking famous movie lines. They came up with : Go ahead, make a cake, and Frankly Scarlet , I don't give a lamb. Haha, they were asked to create bad names for racehorses, so, they offered Ass Backwards.
How would I make out on this show? I cannot imagine! I've always admired comedians who know they are funny, but do not laugh ,and act out their parts with such dedication and skill. How do they do this? How do they stay in character? Could I be witty and quick-thinking? I'd be tempted to laugh, that I do know.
