Chapter #5

Not so broken anymore...?

"I SHOULD CONSIDER A CAREER AS A PROFESSIONAL FRISBEE PLAYER", Dana muttered to herself. She then sighed at the thought of cleaning up the whole mess all over again. Frustrated, she vigorously grabbed all the toys she could carry at once and tossed them into an empty box.

Suddenly, a flash of light.

It all happened so fast, neither the kids nor Dana knew what was happening before it was too late. And where the titanic parent once stood a mere second ago, only empty space remained. Or so it seemed...
The loving wife and mother of three didn't notice the strange, broken device she picked up along her kids' toys and which she violently threw away. The machine must have still been functioning, much to the children's surprise - and horror. The impact activated it and shrank their mother, their only hope for rescue, down to the size of a teeny tiny speck...

In reality, only a few feet separated the boys from their similarly help- and clueless mom. But in their shrunken state, it seems the wooden floor stretches out for miles.

"Oh no, she must be very scared! She doesn't know we're shrunk, too! I can barely see her... she's so far away. MOM!!! MOOOOMMY!!!!". But Ben's meager voice didn't carry far.

"It's hopeless!", Mike realized. "We have to run to her. If we're lucky, the device is working again. It worked her..."

"But what about Sara?"

The two boys turned around. In the other corner of the room stood the box Sara fell in, high and seemingly insurmountable like a mountain.

"She will never make it out alone. We have to help her!", Ben exclaimed.

Mike objected: "But Mom is all alone in the middle of the room, on the floor! Anything could happen to her! Sara is safe in her teddy for now, don't you think?"

The dilemma was obvious. The brothers had to pull themselves together to make a decision... help mom first and use the machine if possible, or make sure their little sister was safe?
