Ashe Eisner was an orphaned human who had to resort to lying, cheating and stealing in order to provide for his younger siblings. Ever since their parents died of illness, Ashe had been his best to support his now broken family. Being just eight when the deaths happened, it was hard on him. He was now seventeen and had been captured for his most recent theft.
He did not think it was much, but he had stolen some food off a caravan that was heading into the dragon kingdom. It was a single loaf of bread. But he was caught all the same. As he flicked to the ground, he heard the deep laugh of the guard. "King's going to be excited to hear we finally caught the human who dared steal from his kingdom."
As Ashe looked up, he saw the crimson dragon, jet black horns and claws, deep yellow eyes. Ashe flinched as the powerful king of dragons glared down at him. "How do you plea?" He snarled.
Ashe swallowed hard. "Guilty Highness. But I didn't have any other ---"
"SILENCE!" The king roared, flames visible behind his fangs. "The penalty for stealing is death. Take him to the dungeon, he'll rot and starve to death. Painful and cruel." He snarled.
The guard easily carried Ashe to the dungeon and threw him into a small cell designed for humans. He laughed while gazing down at Ashe. "Don't worry, about those pibsqueeks you were stealing for. They won't have much longer to suffer. You see, their crime was attempted assault towards a guard. They'll be cooked up and served to the king at dinner tonight." The guard laughed before leaving.
Ashe felt his heart shatter. His siblings had tried to attack the guard with rocks as he was being captured. But he never thought they would be killed. Tears began to flow down his face.
"Hey. Yeah, you. Little one."
Ashe ignored the voice.
"I can help save your siblings. But I'll need your help to get free."
Ashe finally looked over. Chained up in the cell across from his was an azure blue dragon with steel blue eyes. The dragon had a black underbelly, black horns and occasionally black stripes along his body. There were also countless scars on his chest and shoulders.
"What do you say? You help me, and in return I'll help you." The azure dragon states.
Ashe did not hesitate. Any chances to have his siblings, he was going to take it. "How do I get you free?"
A smile formed on the azure dragon's face. His tail slide out from behind him and across the gap between them. "I smash open your cell with my tail. Then you grab on, I bring you over and you see about popping these locks open." The dragon spoke. Ashe nodded and stepped back. He watched as the dragon's tail effortlessly smashed through his cell. He grabbed onto the tail tip and held on as the azure dragon brought him over. "Your turn." He spoke as his tail held Ashe right up to the first lock.
Ashe having been used to stealing, easily picked the lock before moving the next one. After undoing four locks, Ashe felt the azure dragon stand. The massive creature stepped toward the lock on his cell and he held Ashe in front of it. The tiny human easily got the last lock opened before turning his attention to the dragon.
The azure dragon stretched as he stepped out of the cell. "Oh does it feel good to be free."
"Alright, you're free, can we please go save my brother and sister?" Ashe finally spoke up.
He felt the piercing gaze of the steel blue eyes on him.
