Her mind was becoming much more sharper and clearer in her own psychological life. Emotionally Cindy was far better adjusted now. It seemed that there were many years of wisdom and counseling embedded in her. Within minutes, Cindy realized that Chad was not the boy for her. She sniffled her nose for a few seconds just to grieve momentarily. Then she called Chad on the cellphone.
When Chad answered, Cindy told him Hello at first and inquired about his health. First Chad said that he was fine but told her the bizarre incident with a crazy fat man. and he laughed about it. But Cindy was not interested in that. She then told him his bad news. She politely and firmly told Chad that the dating relationship was over.
Chad asked her almost angrily ' Are you dumping me, Cindy.' There was a relaxed tone to her voice in Cindy's reply. She said ' Yes, I am. You still can say Hi to me. But we are not boyfriend/girlfriend anymore.'
Chad was now angry and threatened not to train her in basketball anymore. That included other tactics that Chad used in an attempt to unnerve her. But all of it was pointless. Finally he said ' Well, I can find another girlfriend within days. After all, I am very popular. Bet you will have a harder time.'
Cindy still was relaxed and replied ' Hope you will find an appropriate girlfiend best for you. Even if it does take longer for me to find one, that is OK. One do not have to have a dating relationship in High School.' Chad mockingly laughed at her. Before he hung up,Chad said 'Guess you will miss seeing my handsome face and hunky body.' Then Chad clicked off the phone.
Cindy smiled and said to herself ' Immature. Maybe he will grow up someday.' Then she returned to do some basketball drills on her own. Amazingly, after 30 minutes of drills, Cindy was able to improve it on her own. Maybe within days, Cindy could be as good as an All-State player. Imagine her if Cindy continued training within a month !
After she showered and went home, Cindy pondered on some boys to call. She knew two boys well. Maybe they will go out with her for a first date. None of them had dates in months. But she struggled on which one to call. Cindy knew that both of them were kind gentle boys. One of them was the starting Tight End, Ed Greenway on the school football team. Although not great, Ed did make All-District the past two years.
The second person was the school gifted violin player Joel Sunberg. He was rather skinny and of average strength. But Joel was a natural prodigy in violin. He was on the school classical concert band. In fact, Joel could play the piano well too. Both of the boys were plain looking in appearance but not repulsive or ugly. Cindy smiled at both of her choices of possible first dates. But she had to call just one of them. After a quick prayer, Cindy knew whom to call.
