(reserved for Rex) • Go Back...Chapter #6She called Ed Greenway, the TE of the football ... by: scriptboy   Cindy took her school yearbook and flipped through the pages in the back of her book. Then, she found the section which listed all the students who were in the same class as she was. To her delight, she spotted a few really good friends of hers. In addition, she found the photo of Chad. Then, almost on the same page, she discovered the photos and names of several other guys who were players on the football team as well.
She wanted to show Chad that she could get a date with any of the other cool guys at school. In fact, she wanted to show him that just because Chad thought that he was one of the hot-shot football players didn't mean that she couldn't get a date with any of the OTHER football players who were also on the team. But, who could she call?
Then, she remembered one of the guys who was always kind of shy and in the background. She looked up the team picture and looked at all the guys who were pictured in the far back row in the photo. These were always the guys who were shy and a little more distant. They were the ones who shunned the spotlight and who didn't care much for being in the news all the time.
She examined the picture closely and was able to pick out some of the guys who were standing on the back row. One of them was Ed Greenway, the Tight End on the football team. Ed was tall and muscular, and he had short black hair with blue eyes. He was a nice guy but he was quiet and always a bit in the background. Nobody had ever mentioned anything about him having a girl friend before, and he was always seen being alone and walking around the school by himself or with other football players but never with a girl.
So, Cindy called around her girl friends and started asking around for Ed's phone number. She got a hold of other girls who were dating the other members of the football team, and one guy had to ask the other in order to get more information about Ed. Finally, one of the other players was able to relay a phone number to Cindy via another player who just happened to have Ed's number in his cell phone.
Cindy quickly hung up and entered the number in her address book. Then, she took a deep sigh and though for a minute about what she was going to say. Surely, everybody knew who Chad was, and she was already known as Chad's girlfriend. So, she would have to explain to Ed that she was single as of now and that she was no longer dating Chad. Hoping that Ed would understand, she figured that the quickest way to a man's heart would be through his stomach so she thought about inviting him to dinner or to a picnic or to a trip to the Chinese buffet down the street before going to the movie theater which was only a block away from the school.
She dialed the number and to her surprise, Ed Greenway answered the phone almost right away!
"Yo!"
"Hi there Ed..." she said calmly.
"Uhmm... Who's this?" he wondered.
"It's Cindy."
"Cindy?"
"From school. I'm in your History class?"
"Ohh yeah THAT Cindy! What's going on, doll?" he asked her. "Are you still going out with Chad?"
"No, sweetie! Not anymore..." she replied calmly.
"Oh..." he said sadly. "Sorry to hear that!"
"Yeah, I was wondering..." she began.
"What?"
"What are you doing this week? Are you busy?"
"Well... I got practice today and tomorrow, and then the game on Friday! But after that... I'll be free!" he responded.
"How about... we get together and do something fun on Saturday afternoon?" Cindy grinned.
"Sure, babe! What do you suggest?"
"How about we just get together in the park and have us a little picnic together?" she offered. "I'll provide sandwiches if you bring the drinks and some dessert!"
"You got yourself a deal, sweetheart!"
So they set up a date and time to meet and they picked the park and location. This was going to be a great little picnic in the park.
Cindy hung up the phone and showed and evil grin. She could only begin to imagine the look on Chad's face when he found out that she now had a date with one of his teammates...
