Chapter #4

by horse back.

Riding horses would allow everyone to travel at greater ease because they were all familiar with riding horses. Sir Garrett was delighted to tell his squire he could come with them and he begrudgingly admitted that having Princess Fina fight to bring about their marriage filled him with joy. The only thing that frustrated him was the insistence of his fiancée on a rather scenic route taken from an old map. If the threat had been more pressing instead of rumor Sir Garrett would have insisted on a more direct route, but as it was he was stuck taking the tourist route.

Sir Garrett took the lead and allowed Fina and Albert to trail back and talk to each other while he scouted ahead and watched for danger. The travel was lovely with scenic overlooks of valleys and it appeared to be rarely used because of the sparse civilization, and the small size of the trail. It wasn’t a long time before they had reached a location on the Princess’s map. It took some exploring to discover the offshoot to main trail but with Fina’s insistence and Albert’s keen eye it was soon found.
The site turned out to be a spring rumored to have mystical powers. Sir Garrett set to work trying to figure out who had built it and what it did. He had too much experience with fighting magic to ever trust it fully until he knew it inside and out. Albert and the Princess enjoyed the beauty of the place and were especially drawn to the bright water that seemed to sparkle with life itself.

“Don’t touch the water until we know what this spring does,” Sir Garrett sternly warned his companions.

Princess Fina frowned at the admonishment because she wasn’t a child and shouldn’t be treated like one. A smile crossed her face as she contemplated a little rebellion against the conservative knight.

You have the following choices:

*Pen*
1. Take a drink

2. Splash Sir Garrett with the water

3. Ignore the admonishment

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
