Gratitude breaks the spell of Writers Block
Staring at a blank page is like staring into a snowfield. The snow, untouched by civilization and unmarked by living creatures, blinds you for a few minutes, it glistens reflecting subtle shades of pure white and rainbows at odd angles. If you stare at the snow too long, you get lost in the interplay of light and shadow.

As the day wears on, you become awestruck at the beauty of the snow's perfection. You marvel at the way an oak tree cast its ebony shadow across the pure white snow. You watch the tree's shadow change, grow and shrink, as Earth turns and the sun moves from morning to evening. If you stand out in the snow too long without moving, you risk snow bite or freezing.

If you are fortunate, a red fox will walk across your line of sight. The fox will leave his footprints written in the snowfield. As you watch the fox move, the spell holding you in one spot staring at the snow is broken. You are free to go inside out of the cold and out of danger.

I must say,
writing 500 words a day
isn't difficult,
unless I'm attempting to write
on a single subject.

On Monday, October 28, 2013, I began posting my weekly goals at "Weekly Goals. On Tuesday, October 29, 2013 I began keeping track of may accomplished goals in this journal.

"O SON OF BEING! Bring thyself to account each day ere thou art summoned to a reckoning;
for death, unheralded, shall come upon thee and thou shalt be called to give account for thy deeds."

'Heinlein's Rules for Writers

         Rule One: You Must Write
Rule Two: Finish What Your Start
Rule Three: You Must Refrain From Rewriting, Except to Editorial Order
Rule Four: You Must Put Your Story on the Market
Rule Five: You Must Keep it on the Market until it has Sold'

Robert A. Heinlein

It is enjoined upon every one of you to engage in some form of occupation, such as crafts, trades and the like. We have graciously exalted your engagement in such work to the rank of worship unto God, the True One. Ponder ye in your hearts the grace and the blessings of God and render thanks unto Him at eventide and at dawn. Waste not your time in idleness and sloth. Occupy yourselves with that which profiteth yourselves and others. Thus hath it been decreed in this Tablet from whose horizon the day-star of wisdom and utterance shineth resplendent.
Baha'u'llah, Tablets of Baha'u'llah Revealed After the Kitab-i-Aqdas, Pages 21-29: gr 32

I changed the way I did entries in this book several times. Beginning on March 21, 2018 the entries will cover the topics of spiritual, inspirational, and religions. However, the genres it will be under are Women's, Inspirational, and Spiritual with a tag of Religious.

Happy Birthday Writing.com

It's Tuesday, and I have a lot to accomplish this week. I need to do some surveys because I have to start transferring, at least, $10.00 from PayPal to my savings to cover the fee Bank America is going to start charging this month. I'm placing everything in Baha'u'lah's hands because I can't do much about it. I'll have to check banks to see if I can change to one that has a smaller service charge. If I find one then I'll go through the hassle of switching to another financial institution. What that means is changing everything that automatically comes out of my checking. However, at this point I don't know what else to do.

"O ye beloved of the Lord! Commit not that which defileth the limpid stream of love or destroyeth the sweet fragrance of friendship. By the righteousness of the Lord! Ye were created to show love one to another and not perversity and rancour. Take pride not in love for yourselves but in love for your fellow-creatures. Glory not in love for your country, but in love for all mankind. Let your eye be chaste, your hand faithful, your tongue truthful and your heart enlightened."
Bahá’u’lláh1

This is one of my favorite scriptures because it emphasizes love. The world needs more love today. I went to the doctor today about my left leg. I'll have an out patient procedure on September 19 and a follow-up on September 21. Now I have to get to work finishing some things before Thursday or they will be late.

"To be silent concerning the faults of others, to pray for them, and to help them, through kindness, to correct their faults.

To look always at the good and not at the bad. If a man has ten good qualities and one bad one, to look at the ten and forget the one; and if a man has ten bad qualities and one good one, to look at the one and forget the ten.

Never to allow ourselves to speak one unkind word about another, even though that other be our enemy."

‘Abdu’l-Bahá2

As I get older, it seems to be a tiny bit easier to follow 'Abdu'l-Baha's advice. I'm not sure whether it has to do with maturity, making a better attempt to follow the Baha'i laws, or it I've just decided to pray instead of criticize. Whatever it is, I feel a lot better saying prayers for people instead of belittling them or criticizing. I still have a long way to go, but eventually I will get to the point that I feel I can follow this advices without difficulty.

"O Son of Beauty!
By My spirit and by My favor! By My mercy and by My beauty! All that I have revealed unto thee with the tongue of power, and have written for thee with the pen of might, hath been in accordance with thy capacity and understanding, not with My state and the melody of My voice."

Bahá’u’lláh3

To me, this means that I, or any human being, have the capacity to understand the revealed Word of God. Sometimes we may have to give up the dogma are taught and the preconceived illusions we have about God and his messengers, but eventually, if we are willing to sacrifice our notions, we can understand God's word. I know I sometimes have difficulty understanding some of the scriptures, I take this to mean that I need to pray and meditation on the Word of God.

"One hour’s reflection is preferable to seventy years of pious worship."
Bahá’u’lláh4

I usually meditate of an evening, after I say my prayers and, before I go to sleep. I'm having difficulty concentrating this morning. I'm not sure why, so I probably need to attempt to meditate a little bit this afternoon. I have a lot of reading and writing to do this weekend. I have to do it whether I can concentrate or not. I also have to get back to work on the poem dedicated to the Blessed Beauty. Since I finished the four reviews today, I'll work on some of the reading and writing after saying a prayer./dropcap}

"O peoples of the world! Forsake all evil, hold fast that which is good. Strive to be shining examples unto all mankind, and true reminders of the virtues of God amidst men. He that riseth to serve My Cause should manifest My wisdom, and bend every effort to banish ignorance from the earth. Be united in counsel, be one in thought. Let each morn be better than its eve and each morrow richer than its yesterday."
Bahá’u’lláh5

I strive to follow this commandment, but sometimes I fail. I suppose that is natural since I am only human. The only thing I can do is pray for forgiveness when I fail and make more of an effort after that. I know that I just have to keep trying because when I stop trying that is when I truly fail. I attempt to move forward two steps, that way if I move backward one step then I am still making progress.

On Saturday, August 19, registration for New Horizon Academy begins and I have to decide which one of the classes I'm taking.

I have completed 140 poems of the 200 I am dedicated to the Blessed Beauty. I have 60 to complete in 54 days, this means I need to finish approximately 1.5 poems per day. Some of the poems I have started are almost finished, so I think I will see which ones of those I need to finish first and then move on to the others.

There are 69 day left until the celebration of the bicentenary of Baha'u'llah's Birth. I have 124 poems completed so I need to finish 76, which means I have to complete at least 1 1/2 or 2 each day until October 22. "I am very happy to have met you. I hope that through the favors of the Blessed Beauty you shall become the instruments for the glorification of the divine Cause and the spread of the Word of God so that this city may take precedence over all the other cities of America. As this city is the capital of America, so shall it, God willing, become the center of divine signs. When you arise to teach the Cause of God it will soon be firmly established and will spread because this city has capacity…"
‘Abdu’l-Baha (Words of ‘Abdu’l-Baha, November 8, Washington DC, recorded by Mahmud Zarqani; ‘Mahmud’s Diary’)6

This quote gives the importance of Washington DC to the United States of America. It also give the spiritual potential of the city. I suspect one of the biggest problems today is most people don't think of the spiritual potential America has in this age. For sometime now America has been suffering from a split personality that separates the spiritual from everyday life. It seems one is only supposed to think of spiritual in relation to religion, which it isn't. Spiritual is a part of religion, but it's also a part of everyday life.

I'm doing better today. I finish four of the 200 poems I'm dedicating to the Blessed Beauty. I don't know if I will finish any more today because I have to review at least two more items for "Game of Thrones and start a short story or poem for Week 3. I wrote poems for Week 1 and 2, so I will write a short story for Week 3: "Prompt 1: Pink, fluffy unicorns are apparently very popular. But what about unicorns who aren't pink? And who don't have a fluffy personality at all... ~ Story".

"We, verily, have chosen courtesy, and made it the true mark of such as are nigh unto Him. Courtesy is, in truth, a raiment which fitteth all men, whether young or old."
Bahá’u’lláh7

This is a good goal for this week. I try to show courtesy all the time, but I think that I sometimes fail. The only thing to do is continue attempting to show courtesy, and when I fail then I need to ask forgiveness and work on showing courtesy even harder. Some days it is easier to show courtesy thean on other days, but I don't know why. Perhaps there are days when I am more aware of the other people in my life.

Jalál (Glory), 13 Kamál (Perfection) 174 Badi - Saturday, August 12, 2017 CE

It's Science Fiction Saturday, which means today's review goal for "Game of Thrones is to review science fiction stories. I may take that a bit farther and write sci-fi stories or poems in response to blog prompt. I want to do more then four sci-fi reviews today, so I'll set the goal at 6 and then see if I can get more then that reviewed.

"For those who believe in God, who have love of God, and faith, life is excellent – that is, it is eternal; but to those souls who are veiled from God, although they have life, it is dark."
'Abdu’l-Bahá8

This is a beautiful scripture. It states the reason that believers in God should be happy and not depress. Sometimes I forget that life is excellent and eternal. This occurs when I focus on the material world and not the divine attributes. Whenever I focus on material problems, I am depressed. When I focus on Baha'u'llah and the divine attributes, I am not depressed because I know I am loved and that there is a plan for my life.

I may have to admit that the maximum stories I can read in a day are six. I give it a try for more stories tomorrow, but I suspect six is my limit if I want to do a good job of reviewing.

Istiqlál (Independence), 12 Kamál (Perfection) 174 Badi - Friday, August 11, 2017 CE

Friday used to be the day everyone thanked God for because it was the end of the workweek. All right it wasn't the end of the workweek for everyone, but most people considered a workweek consisting of five days with an eight hour day being the norm. It isn't any more. Now it is common for stores to be open for seven days for 9-10 hours, and some open 24/7.

"Magnified be Thy name, O my God, for that Thou hast manifested the Day which is the King of Days, the Day which Thou didst announce unto Thy chosen Ones and Thy Prophets in Thy most excellent Tablets, the Day whereon Thou didst shed the splendor of the glory of all Thy names upon all created things. Great is his blessedness whosoever hath set himself towards Thee, and entered Thy presence, and caught the accents of Thy voice.

I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by the name of Him round Whom circleth in adoration the kingdom of Thy names, that Thou wilt graciously assist them that are dear to Thee to glorify Thy word among Thy servants, and to shed abroad Thy praise amidst Thy creatures, so that the ecstasies of Thy revelation may fill the souls of all the dwellers of Thine earth.

Since Thou hast guided them, O my Lord, unto the living waters of Thy grace, grant, by Thy bounty, that they may not be kept back from Thee; and since Thou hast summoned them to the habitation of Thy throne, drive them not out from Thy presence, through Thy loving-kindness. Send down upon them what shall wholly detach them from aught else except Thee, and make them able to soar in the atmosphere of Thy nearness, in such wise that neither the ascendancy of the oppressor nor the suggestions of them that have disbelieved in Thy most august and most mighty Self shall be capable of keeping them back from Thee."

Bahá’u’lláh9

This is a prayer for success in proclaiming the name of Baha'u'llah. The day which this prayer refers to is either the Berth of Baha'u'llah, which is celebrated on October 22 this year, or the Declaration of Baha'u'llah which is the Festival of Ridvan. I am not sure which, or it could imply both those Holy Days. I will have to meditation a bit more on this.

I remained at the computer later last night then normal. I had to finish a challenge entry for The House of Undying. I got up earlier then normal this morning because when I went to bed, I went to sleep almost right away. I enjoy writing the entries for The House of Undying, but I have not attempted the Wheel of Torture yet, maybe this week. I finished the fantasy newsletter and everything else I had to finish. The only thing I did not get done was some poems for "Bicentenary Poems and Prose, and I'll work on some of those today.

"All praise be to Thee, O my God, for the things Thou didst ordain for me through Thy decree and by the power of Thy sovereignty. I beseech Thee that thou wilt fortify both myself and them that love me in our love for Thee, and wilt keep us firm in Thy Cause. I swear by Thy might! O my God! Thy servant’s shame is to be shut out as by a veil from Thee, and his glory is to know Thee. Armed with the power of Thy name nothing can ever hurt me, and with Thy love in my heart all the world’s afflictions can in no wise alarm me.

Send down, therefore, O my Lord, upon me and upon my loved ones that which will protect us from the mischief of those that have repudiated Thy truth and disbelieved in Thy signs.

Thou art, verily, the All-Glorious, the Most Bountiful."

Bahá’u’lláh10

This is a good prayer to begin the working week because it reminds me that there is nothing that God cannot handle. Sometimes I feel alone and depressed, when this happens I turn to the prayers revealed by Baha'u'llah or The Bab. Their prayers always change my attitude because I can feel the Holy Spirit flowing through them.

So far today I've did 2/3 of my daily goals. There were some things I did not put on this week's goals because I want to focus on two things (1) writing the poems dedicated to The Blessed Beauty, and (2) participating in "Game of Thrones. If I post to my blogs it will be short posts or poem's I've already written. Requested $10.00 from My Survey to my PayPal account: Your Order Number: W080717BB00E. This is going to be a busy writing day for me because I have to finish the fantasy newsletter and write an entry for "Invalid Post"   in "Endless Night. I started the response to the post in "Snow Scribbles. I have to post that sometime later today when I finish writing, at least, 1000 words about finding Victor. I paused only long enough to review some Medical genre items for "Game of Thrones. I don't think I'll get any poem written for "Bicentenary Poems and Prose, but that's all right because I have over half of the 200 poem I'm dedicated to The Blessed Beauty written.

"The confirmations of the Spirit are all those powers and gifts which some are born with (and which men sometimes call genius), but for which others have to strive with infinite pains. They come to that man or woman who accepts his life with radiant acquiescence."
‘Abdu’l-Bahá11

I need to accept my life with radiant acquiescence. Sometimes I am capable of doing this and sometimes I have difficulty. Today I need to accept the events in my life with radiant acquiescence because I have a lot of writing to do. I just finished my edition of the fantasy newsletter for August. The subject was "Game of Thrones and genre reviewing. I did most of the genre reviews today before finishing the newsletter. Now all I have to do is the blogger of the month and blogger of the week items. I also have to write, or rather finish, something for "Endless Night.

"The purpose of religion as revealed from the heaven of God’s holy Will is to establish unity and concord amongst the peoples of the world; make it not the cause of dissension and strife."
Baha’u’llah12

Unity and concord appear so far away at this present point in history. However, the darker the night, the blacker the smoke rising from the present batter the light that is on the horizon. I have no doubt that, eventually, unity and concord will happen, but until then I have to keep proclaiming the teaching of Baha'u'llah and emphasizing that world peace is possible.

"O My Friend in Word!
Ponder awhile. Hast thou ever heard that friend and foe should abide in one heart? Cast out then the stranger, that the Friend may enter His home."

Bahá’u’lláh13

I'm not sure what to write about this scripture because I need to meditate on it for a little longer. I haven't spent that much time meditating on it today. I'm going to have to withdraw from "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS so I can focus on "Game of Thrones and "Bicentenary Poems and Prose. In addition, the only things I'm going to be posting to "Melting Snow and my offsite blog is poems that I've already written and have copies of here at home. I just need to cut down on my writing. I will post to some contests and finish the newsletter, but other then that I'll just focus on reviewing and writing poetry.

Peace approaches
through the smoke of Armageddon.

In the voice of a Nightingale,
peace calls to us,
its song
rising above the chaos
of death.

"Praise be unto God, incomparable in majesty, power and beauty, peerless in glory, might and grandeur; too high is He for human imaginations to comprehend Him or for any peer or equal to be ascribed unto Him."
Bahá’u’lláh14

I am not sure what to say about this quote. It eloquently states my belief about God; indeed, it states my view of the divine creator much better then I can. Therefore, I will go on with the way my morning went. I managed seven reviews for "Game of Thrones, and I posted "Sad Moments In Life for the writing challenge. There is one more activity in the "Game of Thrones that I have not gotten to yet. I will do that either later today or in the morning.

‘Idál (Justice), 3 Kamál (Perfection) 174 Badi - Wednesday, August 2, 2017 CE

"It is the light of the intellect which gives us knowledge and understanding, and without this light the physical eyes would be useless. This light of the intellect is the highest light that exists, for it is born of the Light Divine. The light of the intellect enables us to understand and realize all that exists, but it is only the Divine Light that can give us sight for the invisible things, and which enables us to see truths that will only be visible to the world thousands of years hence."
‘Abdu’l-Baha (From a talk, Paris, November 5, 1911, ‘Paris Talks’)15

God's gift to humanity is the light of the intellect. Without this light humans would not be able to create art or discover the wonderful inventions that have been discovered over the decades. This light is born of the Divine Light, and human being received it when God created us. It is this light that helps use see truth, and assists us in accomplishing science and the other things humans accomplish.

Today I did 6 review for "Game of Thrones House of Florent. I attempted to do a 7th review before posting, but I couldn't focus on the review. Hopefully I can raise the amount to 7 or 8 tomorrow. I stated the writing assignment that is due Friday. I like what I have so far; however I need to add more to the poem. Some concrete detail about Mom or maybe Dad which were sad moments. I'm not sure whether losing Mom was sadder then finding out Daddy died.

Fiḍál (Grace), 2 Kamál (Perfection) 174 Badi - Tuesday, August 1, 2017 CE

"The purpose of God in creating man hath been, and will ever be, to enable him to know his Creator and to attain His Presence. To this most excellent aim, this supreme objective, all the heavenly Books and the divinely-revealed and weighty Scriptures unequivocally bear witness."
Bahá’u’lláh16

This is one of my favorite scriptures because it reveals why humans, as a species, were created. According to the writings of Baha'u'llah and 'Abdu'l-Baha the only way to know God is through the prophets--manifestations of divine attributes--that God sends periodically to help humanity mature as a species or the individual evolve spiritually.

Review of accomplishments on Monday, July 31, 2017, I accomplished both my B Priorities and one of my A Priorities. Since the "Game of Thrones didn't start until today that's doing good. Today I managed to review 5 items for "Game of Thrones which also accomplishes one B Priority. I posted to "Melting Snow earlier today. I want to do some more reviewing if I get a chance, but right now I want to work on a couple of poems dedicated to The Blessed Beauty.

"Magnified be Thy name, O Lord my God! Thou art He Whom all things worship and Who worshipeth no one, Who is the Lord of all things and is the vassal of none, Who knoweth all things and is known of none. Thou didst, through a word of thy mouth, bring creation into being and fashion the universe. There is none other God except Thee the Fashioner, the Creator, the Almighty, the Most Powerful."
Bahá’u’lláh17

I am attempting to magnify God's name through writing poems dedicated to The Blessed Beauty. I am not sure how good a joy I am doing; I will leave that up to Baha'u'llah to decide. If I worry about the way I am doing it then I will never finish any of the poems by sunset on October 22, 2017. I have 103 poems planned to dedicate to the Blessed Beauty, with 75 completed that leaves 28 to finish before the end of July.

Istiqlál (Independence), 17 Kalimát (Words) 174 Badi - Friday, July 28, 2017 CE

"Glory be unto Thee, O Lord my God! I beg Thee to forgive me and those who support Thy Faith. Verily, Thou art the sovereign Lord, the Forgiver, the Most Generous. O my God! Enable such servants of Thine as are deprived of knowledge to be admitted into Thy Cause; for once they learn of Thee, they bear witness to the truth of the Day of Judgment and do not dispute the revelations of Thy bounty. Send down upon them the tokens of Thy grace, and grant them, wherever they reside, a liberal share of that which Thou hast ordained for the pious among Thy servants. Thou art in truth the Supreme Ruler, the All-Bounteous, the Most Benevolent."
The Báb18

All the prayers revealed by The Bab are encouraging and positive, even when they as for forgiveness. Asking forgiveness is important because it reveals the seeker's resolve to find the salvation. Forgiveness also reveals the believers faith without which moving forward in ones chosen spiritual path would be difficult and, almost, impossible.

August is coming up, which means the Game of Thrones and a new adventure in "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS. The "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS is a South American virtual vacation that sounds like fun. If I do participate in that, I'll have to set some priorities and writing time limits. Right now I am working on 200 poems dedicated to the Blessed Beauty with a deadline of October 22. I have until Sunday or Monday to decide if I am able to participate. If I do decide to participate in the South American vacation than I have to make it clear, I may not be able to post every day.

August Priority List

A and B Priorities

*BulletBr* Work on and complete several poems dedicated to the Blessed Beauty in "Bicentenary Poems and Prose.
*BulletBr* Work on Game of Throne prompts and submit by deadline.
*BulletBr* Blog entries
*BulletBr* Reviews

"Blogging Circle of Friends prompt for DAY 1717: July 29, 2017 - Creative Saturday prompt: Wedding Bands - Ivy entwined gold leaves etched into golden circles: love given forever returns. Write a story or poem about these wedding bands. Is the couple newly weds, are they celebrating their fiftieth anniversary, or is a widow/widower remembering a spouse who has passed on?

Tetragrammaton was supposed to be poem number 63 of 200 dedicated to The Blessed Beauty; however, I cannot seem to come up with a beginning. Instead of stressing over the subject, I am going to put this idea aside for a while and write a different poem for number 63. Poet's Note: This is the second time I have changed a poem idea because I had difficulty wringing the poem - see "At the Beginning of a New Week: July 23-29, 2017.

"Be ye God’s manifestations of trustworthiness in every land. So perfectly should ye mirror forth this quality that even were ye to travel through cities heaped with gold, your gaze would not for a single moment be seduced by its allure. This is the standard required of you, O assemblage of true believers. Assist ye your gracious Lord with your wealth and substance so that in all the worlds of God His servants may perceive from you the sweet savours of the one true God."
Bahá’u’lláh19

One component of trustworthiness is finishing what you start. I am in the middle of writing 200 poem dedicated to the Blessed Beauty. As of today, I have 70 completed with 100 planned. I have to finish 30 to have half of the poem done. I have 87 days left to complete all 200 poems. I need to focus on finishing the 30 within the next 7 days. I'll have to say a lot of prayers and finish reading The first chapter of The Sufferings of Baha'u'llah. The biggest barrier I face in finishing these poems is my own self-doubt. As long as I focus on Baha'u'llah, I don't have a problem with inspiration; however, when I let my mind wonder then I encounter doubt about my own abilities to finish this project.
