Gratitude breaks the spell of Writers Block
Staring at a blank page is like staring into a snowfield. The snow, untouched by civilization and unmarked by living creatures, blinds you for a few minutes, it glistens reflecting subtle shades of pure white and rainbows at odd angles. If you stare at the snow too long, you get lost in the interplay of light and shadow.

As the day wears on, you become awestruck at the beauty of the snow's perfection. You marvel at the way an oak tree cast its ebony shadow across the pure white snow. You watch the tree's shadow change, grow and shrink, as Earth turns and the sun moves from morning to evening. If you stand out in the snow too long without moving, you risk snow bite or freezing.

If you are fortunate, a red fox will walk across your line of sight. The fox will leave his footprints written in the snowfield. As you watch the fox move, the spell holding you in one spot staring at the snow is broken. You are free to go inside out of the cold and out of danger.

I must say,
writing 500 words a day
isn't difficult,
unless I'm attempting to write
on a single subject.

On Monday, October 28, 2013, I began posting my weekly goals at "Weekly Goals. On Tuesday, October 29, 2013 I began keeping track of may accomplished goals in this journal.

"O SON OF BEING! Bring thyself to account each day ere thou art summoned to a reckoning;
for death, unheralded, shall come upon thee and thou shalt be called to give account for thy deeds."

Rule Three: You Must Refrain From Rewriting, Except to Editorial Order
Rule Four: You Must Put Your Story on the Market
Rule Five: You Must Keep it on the Market until it has Sold'

Robert A. Heinlein

It is enjoined upon every one of you to engage in some form of occupation, such as crafts, trades and the like. We have graciously exalted your engagement in such work to the rank of worship unto God, the True One. Ponder ye in your hearts the grace and the blessings of God and render thanks unto Him at eventide and at dawn. Waste not your time in idleness and sloth. Occupy yourselves with that which profiteth yourselves and others. Thus hath it been decreed in this Tablet from whose horizon the day-star of wisdom and utterance shineth resplendent.
Baha'u'llah, Tablets of Baha'u'llah Revealed After the Kitab-i-Aqdas, Pages 21-29: gr 32

I changed the way I did entries in this book several times. Beginning on March 21, 2018 the entries will cover the topics of spiritual, inspirational, and religions. However, the genres it will be under are Women's, Inspirational, and Spiritual with a tag of Religious.

Gratitude List for the Last Thankful Thursday in March 2018

Sparrows' gratitude
reverberating from trees
leaves a pastel green.

Thank you, O God,
for inspiration derived
from the Pen of Your Glory.

I listen to the laughter echoing across my neighborhood, and through the city. I give thanks for being born in this day. I hear the birds singing. I hear people laughing. I feel the gratitude and joy rising from my soul, and spreading through my entire body. Despite the stress flowing across the planet, I am blessed because this is the of the fulfillment of the promises in the Sacred Scriptures.

I am thankful that I received a merit badge from {suser:{bubblegumjones}.
Merit Badge in Celebration
[Click For More Info]

I wanted to give you this special merit badge Prosperous Snow for helping me celebrate my milestone of 5,000 reviews.

I am thankful for spring. I am thankful for the sparrows singing in the pine and palm trees around my apartment. I am thankful for the inspiration that I receive from the chilly mornings, and warm afternoons. I am thankful that there is no longer snow on Mount Charleston, because snow on the Mountain makes the air in the valley colder. I am thankful for the rain we had yesterday.

"O people! Consort with the followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship."
Baha'u'llah2

It's Wednesday, half way through the last week in March 2018. This is my second post in this journal this week, which is less than I posted the last three weeks. I don't know if I'll post any more this week or not, I usually make that decision on a daily basis. I like to make sure I post on Wednesday, because that is normally when the writing.com newsletters reach my inbox. I'm going to focus on reviewing some of the items in the newsletters today, and see what I can do about writing some poems. I realized last night that the only thing I want to do is write poetry. I have some novels to finish, so I will work on rewriting/editing "Scavengers. I, also, need to answer the question, I ask in "Motivational Monday: Loss and Art, "Who do I create for?"

Submitted to "Spiritual Newsletter (March 28, 2018): "Thank you for sharing this information about His Holiness Krishna. I believe that the foundations of all religions come from the Unknowable Creator, and that the only way we, human beings, can know the Almighty is through his Manifestations or Avatars. All reveal the divine attribute or virtues to humanity. I enjoyed reading this newsletter because it shared information from ordinary people who believe in His Holiness Krishna. Keep sharing because it is important to let people know about any and all the the Divine Manifestations (Mirrors of the Attributes of God)."

I requested a poetry card for the "Invalid Item activity. I have two other poetry activities going, besides "The Daily Poem, going on in April, and those two activities are "Dew Drop Inn and "Invalid Item. I have, also, joined "~ The Poet's Place Cafe~. This means cutting down on some of my blogging activities for a while. I think in April I will post one blog entry a day either in "Melting Snow, "Writing in Snow, or Poet 999 - A Butterfly Emerges from Her Cocoon https://poet999.blogspot.com/. If I get a chance, after my daily poems are written and my review goals are met, I will post to more than one of the blog.

God looks at our hearts,
the Almighty sees our souls:
Purity of intention.

Do we search for light,
the Holy Spirit that lit
the lamps of God's Messengers.

Jamál (Beauty), 5 Bahá Splendor 175 B.E. - Sunday, March 25, 2018

"Be anxiously concerned with the needs of the age ye live in, and center your deliberations on its exigencies and requirements."
Baha'u'llah3

I look at the news stories of the last week, and I remember the headlines of the last three months. The question that comes to mind is "What does the world need?" There answer to this question is a three part answer. Part 1, is the acceptance of oneness of humanity, which includes the realization that the concept of race is a human construction. Humanity is a single species, and not different races divided by color, nationality, religion, or any other human created division. The concept of race, as defined by the color of skin, is still prevalent in the world. There are people who accept humanity as a single species, and that number is growing every day. However, there are still those out there who see skin tone as a dividing line between people.

Part 2, of the answer, concerns God, the Almighty Creator. There is only one God, there are numerous names for the Creator, but this does not mean that that there are several different gods or goddess. The All-Bountiful Creator is a spiritual essence without a physical body or gender. Every person on Earth, no matter what religions they profess, receives inspiration from the same Divine Essence that we call God. This Essence is spiritual and, therefore, cannot be comprehended by the human mind or soul. The soul, or spirit, of the individual is capable of reflecting divine attributes (such as faith, love, hope, etc.), which we call virtues.

Part 3, of the answer, concerns religion. The religions we see in the world today are part of the God's plan to assist humanity in its spiritual and social evolution. Each prophet, messenger, or manifestation4 brought a specific message and laws for the time of His appearance5. The messenger or manifestation6 for today is Baha'u'llah, the Glory of God.

Jalál (Glory), 4 Bahá (Splendor) 175 B.E. - Saturday, March 24, 2018

It is the day of Glory. It is four days into the New Year of 175 B.E. What have I accomplished so far this year? A better question, this early in the year, is "What have I accomplished this week?" I have accomplished several things, first, I have placed my weekly goals in a separate document that I can week to contain new goals. That way I can just edit the document when I accomplish a goal, and it allows me to keep track of the daily and weekly goals. Second, I have read several pages in the publication "The Baha'is", which has given me some ideas for poems to work on this year. I begin in "Motivational Monday: Eighteenth Day of Fast to place the quotes in that book in the entries for this book. The idea was to write poems based on each quote, and I have written and posted the poems in "Motivational Monday: Eighteenth Day of Fast and "Nineteenth Day of Fast. I have to restart this project today.

"Should the lamp of religion be obscured, chaos and confusion will ensure, and the lights of fairness and justice, of tranquility and peace cease to shine."
Baha'u'llah7

Veils Conceal

Veils conceal
the lamps of peace and tranquility,
darkness spreads
through the minds of humanity
and across the Earth.

Dogma's veils shroud
the light of religion's love,
while dross of hate
covers fanatical minds and souls.

Confession reigns,
death and destruction
throw humanity into chaos,
and many blame religion
because blind followers
follow blind leaders.

The Divine Messengers
taught peace and unity,
this present chaos
results from those worship power
not the worshipers of God.

Turning to the Kingdom of Abha

"O thou maid-servant of God! Whenever thou art intending to deliver a speech, turn thy face toward the Kingdom of Abha and, with a heart detached, begin to talk. The breaths of the Holy Spirit will assist thee."
‘Abdu’l-Bahá89

The breaths of the Holy Spirit not only assist a person to give a speech, but to write as well. Whenever I am having difficulty finding a subject or a theme, I say a prayer revealed by Baha'u'llah, the Bab, or 'Abdu'l-Baha, after which I find a subject to write about. It is not always, what most people consider, a spiritual subject. However, once it is revealed to me by the presence of the Holy Spirit, it feels as if I am writing for Baha'u'llah.

Thankful Thursday Gratitude List

Today I am...
         01. ...thankful that I was able to attend the Naw-Ruz party at the Baha'i Center on the evening of Tuesday, March 20.
         02. ...grateful for the ability to access the Internet, because I can find quotes from the sacred writings that inspire and encourage me to continue to attempt to live a spiritual life.
         03. ...thankful that, so far, I have one response to put in the feedback section of my edition of the April fantasy newsletter.
         04. ...grateful for the information about cardinal being messenger from the spiritual realm. According to the information I read, a cardinal is either the spirit of a loved one returning to visit, or the daughter of the sun reminding us about spring. I'm going to use this information in either a poem, story, or blog entry.
         05. ...thankful that I have 2,688,391 GPs in my Gift Points account.
         06. ...grateful for the hot coffee and cinnamon roll I had for breakfast.
         07. ...thankful that the $10.00 from PayPal hit my checking account today.
         08. ...grateful that I was able to use the information I discovered about "Cardinals in a poem.
         09. ...thankful for the assistance of the Holy Spirit in my writing.
         10. ...grateful that my checking account is not overdrawn.

Naw-Ruz and Feast of Bahá (Splendor)

"Know, that the divine springtime hath come with its rains and abundance, with the heat of its sun, the breeze of its life and the scent of its fragrance; and through this universal and great abundance, the land of the holy truth and facts hath moved and brought forth of every kind, good and beautiful fruits. But the barren, wicked land will not bring forth save the thorn of denial, of haughtiness and disdain. Therefore, thank thou God for He hath made thee a good, fertile land by the clouds of the abundance of God the Chosen."
‘Abdu'l-Baha1011

The Bab and Baha'u'llah brought the divine spring time again to the planet Earth. I give thanks that I was blessed to hear and to accept the message of love, peace, and unity in their sacred writings. I ask forgiveness for anything that I did or do, even inadvertently, that does not reflect the Glory of God (Baha'u'llah) and the Gate of God (The Bab).

The splendor of a New Year
Shines upon the Earth
Proclaiming Baha'u'llah

Submitted to "Comedy Newsletter (March 21, 2018) "We Are Not Alone!": Someone once told me that "It's alright to talk to yourself, and it's alright to talk to yourself and answer yourself. The time to start worrying is when you talk to yourself, answer yourself, and the ask 'What did I say?'"

Reflections on Naw-Ruz Celebrations

The splendor of a New Year
shines its light upon the Earth:
proclaiming Baha'u'llah.

The Glory of God smiles,
at the joy experienced
by those who attend
each Naw-Ruz celebration.

The Holy Spirit
present in each location,
adds feelings of excellence
and cheer
to the festivities.

Poem Written on the Nineteenth Day of Fast

The excellence
of our destiny is
proclaimed by the Glory of God,
the Manifestation
of the Almighty in this day.

Honour is reflected
in the way we pursue
that destiny.

At sunset the year of 174 B.E. ends and 175 B.E. begins. I'm not sure what the coming year will hold; however, Baha'u'llah knows what's going to happen in the world and in my life. I'm still having difficulties with focus because of maladaptive daydreaming. The only thing I can do to overcome it is keep praying, meditating, and writing. As long as I'm focused on doing something, I don't have a problem with it. It's just when my mind is unfocused and wandering or when I'm worried about something. I'm sure that, with the help of Baha'u'llah, I can overcome this problem, but it isn't going to be easy. Nothing worthwhile is easy.

I placed my weekly goals into "Weekly Goals for 2024, which I will edit each week with new goals. Since a New Year begins at sunset, I'm going to change the way I do the entries in this journal (again). I'll be using this journal for contemplations and thoughts on scripture readings, or other spiritual books I'm reading. I don't know if I will make daily entries or weekly entries. I'll decide about the entries on March 21, I doubt that the entries will be daily (I could change my mind about this).

Eighteenth Day of Fast

"The purpose of religion ... is to establish unity and concord amongst the peoples of the world; make it not the cause of dissension and strife."
Baha'u'llah13

Poem Written on the Eighteenth Day of Fast

We call God by different names,
and think that because each religion
has different designations
for the Almighty,
that they are talking about a different god.

God,
the All-Knowing Creator,
is a single unknowable essence,
with many titles.

The attributes of the creator
is reflected to humanity
through the Mirrors of Divine Manifestation.

There is only one God,
the foundation of religion
is one,
the numerous faiths
are chapters
in the Book of Divine Revelation.

Sixteenth Day of Fast

"There are various stages and stations for the Fast and innumerable effects and benefits are concealed therein. Well is it with those who have attained unto them."
Baha’u’llah15

Poem Written on the Sixteenth Day of Fast

What is the glory of the Fast?
It is learning to let go of the past,
asking forgiveness
for all the sins of omission,
and those committed.

I contemplate the divine attribute of loftiness,
considering all the benefits,
effects,
stages,
and stations
of the nineteen-day fast.

There are some that I know,
or think I know,
while of others I am completely unaware.

All I can do at present
is as forgiveness and move forward,
as I learn to let go
of superstitions
and vain imaginings.

The Fourteenth Day of Fast

"Beware lest ye harm any soul or make any heart to sorrow; lest ye wound any man with your words, be he known to you or a stranger, be he friend or foe. Pray ye for all; ask ye that all be blessed, all be forgiven.”
Bahá’í Writings17

Poem for the Fourteenth Day of Fast

Supplicate the Almighty,
ask absolution
for both friend and foe,
for acquaintance,
for stranger,
for friend,
for family,
and for yourself.

Supplicate the Almighty,
ask forgiveness
morning and evening,
noon and midnight,
every hour of the day,
every hour of the night.

Thirteenth Day of Fast

"Every heart should radiate unity, so that the Light of the one Divine Source of all may shine forth bright and luminous. We must not consider the separate waves alone, but the entire sea. We should rise from the individual to the whole. The spirit is as one great ocean and the waves thereof are the souls of men."
‘Abdu’l-Baha 1819

Poem Written for the Thirteenth Day of Fast

I contemplate the excellence
of material
and spiritual creation.

The perfection
of the love
of the Almighty
reflected through
the luminous ocean
of the sacred scriptures.

This is the age of the maturity of humanity,
the age of unity,
when the fullness of the fruits
of the human world
will ripen
and the consummation
of the divine prophecies
is witnessed.

There are six more days left in the nineteen-day fast, at sunset on March 20 the Fast for and 174 B.E. end. So far, in 'Ala' I have written thirteen poems about the divine attributes, and three about the virtues. Whatever I have left to write, I will carry into the New Year. I will finish these poem before starting the themes over again (if I use them again). I have changed my on-line reading list to include four serials on bahaiteachings.org20, which are (1) Figuring Out Prophecy21, (2) Native American Messengers of God22, (3) The Purpose of Physical Reality23, and (4) The Death of Tahirih: The Women’s Rights Martyr24. The only other thing I want to read on-line is the e*lix*ir Journal25. Right now, my offline reading lists is (1) The Summons of the Lord of Hosts and (2) The American Baha'i for March/April 2018. And last, there are three poetry forms I want to use (1) Ghazal26, (2) Pantoum27, and (3) Pi-Archimedes28.

"Say: God sufficeth all things above all things, and nothing in the heavens or in the earth or in whatever lieth between them but God, thy Lord, sufficeth. Verily, He is in Himself the Knower, the Sustainer, the Omnipotent."
The Báb29

All-sufficing faith is faith in Baha'u'llah, who is the Manifestation of God for today. The quote is from the writings of The Bab, Baha'u'llah's forerunner, and it emphasizes that one must place one's entire trust in the Manifestation of God, who reflects the divine attributes to humanity. No matter what happens in a person's life, in my life, I know that Baha'u'llah reveals God. The only way to know the Almighty is through is Manifestation. Baha'u'llah is the fulfillment of all the divine prophecies of the past.

Eleventh Day of Fast

"Through the power of the words He hath uttered the whole of the human race can be illuminated with the light of unity, and the remembrance of His Name is able to set on fire the hearts of all men, and burn away the veils that intervene between them and His glory."
Baha'u'llah30

It's a good beginning to second workweek in March 2018. The new issues of The American Baha'i arrived today, with several interesting and motivational articles. This month, I'm taking a different approach to reading the magazine. Instead of randomly reading articles, which catch my attention, I'm beginning at the front (page 3) and moving through one-article-at-a-time. My goal with each article is to find inspiration for a poem or blog entry.

Tenth Day of Fast

"The knowledge of the Reality of the Divinity is impossible and unattainable, but the knowledge of the Manifestations of God is the knowledge of God, for the bounties, splendors, and divine attributes are apparent in Them."
‘Abdu’l-Bahá 31

Poem Written on the Tenth Day of Fast

It is through the words
written and spoken by God's manifestations
that the knowledge of the Almighty

Today is Sunday, the first day of a new week, the Day of Beauty. I have a lot to do this week, in addition to writing. On Monday, I have two items to fill out and get into the snail mail box, plus I have two phone call to make. I really don't want do any of those things this week; however, they have to be done. There is no use putting them off because it will only make me want to do them less. I feel better now that I have written down the idea of not wanting to do them, I don't know why I don't want to do them.

I have some other things to do besides the writing projects, the phone calls, and the paper work. I have to stop wasting time. Some of the stuff I don't want to do because it means deciding what I have to throw away, give away, or keep. However, I'm going to have to make out of this place sometime this year, so I have to get it done or I'll have to drag it with me again, and I don't want to do that.

Jalál (Glory ), 9 ‘Alá’ (Loftiness) 174 B.E. - Saturday, March 10, 2018
Ninth Day of Fast

It is Saturday, March 9, the day of Glory, the month of Loftiness, the Ninth Day of Fast in the year 174 B.E. There are ten days left int the Loftiness and in the year 174 B.E. I am listening to Baha'i videos on YouTube as I write this, videos celebrating the appearance of Baha'u'llah and the 200th celebration of his birth. Listening to these videos makes me realize how lucky I am to have heard about and recognized Baha'u'llah, the promised one of all religions. Baha'u'llah has appeared through the mercy of God, without God's mercy the planet Earth would be lifeless.

This Face is hidden in the dust of slander: Where are the breezes of Thy compassion, O Mercy of the worlds?
Baha'u'llah32

Poem Written on the Ninth Day of Fast

The wind of divine mercy
blows across the Earth
taking to humanity
the blessing of God's Glory.

The wind of divine mercy
carries the grace
of the Almighty
to the souls
of those seeking
the favour
of the All-Bountiful.

The wind of divine mercy
is the loving kindness
of the Holy Spirit,
speaking through the Pen of Glory
who is Baha'u'llah.

The wind of divine mercy
is providence
to the soul of the individual,
and the compassion
of the of forgiveness.

I have written a poem every day, since the beginning of Fast (March 2), and, as of today, I have written nine poems. When Fast ends, on the evening of March 20, I will have written 19 poems using the themes of the Baha'i months or days of the week. Lately, I've begun considering putting those poems into a single document. It would make it easier to edit and rewrite those poems, some of them need more work. My problem is editing and rewriting anything. However, at 71, I'm going to have to overcome this issue because otherwise I will die without attempting a decent rewrite, and I suspect that is one of the issues I have to overcome before ascending into the Abha Kingdom.

Eighth Day of Fast

"The one all-loving God bestows His divine Grace and Favour on all mankind; one and all are servants of the Most High, and His Goodness, Mercy and loving Kindness are showered upon all His creatures. The glory of humanity is the heritage of each one.

All men are the leaves and fruit of one same tree, they are all branches of the tree of Adam, they all have the same origin."
Abdu’l-Baha3334

On this the eighth day of Fast, I contemplate the oneness of humanity, and the history of my own life. I remember growing up in Oklahoma, a middle American state, where racial prejudice was taught or, at least, implied by the way people treated those of a different color and culture. I know that I must have acquire some false ideas about people of different cultures or skin colors, I've attempt (I hope with some success) to overcome and/or prove those ideas wrong. Today, I look at the beauty of humanity, which is enhanced by the various skin tones that decorate the human species. As I progress toward my final days on this planet, I that I am proclaiming the unity of the human species through my poems, stories, and essays.

Poem Written on the Eight Day of Fast

Dawn spreads it radiance across the Earth,
The Splendour of God was born at dawn,
The light of a new day celebrates unity's birth.

Through His Pen God shed illumination upon the Earth,
The effulgence of His scriptures unites humanity,
The brightness of His laws creates anew heaven and Earth.

The Seventh Day of Fast

"My God, my Adored One, my King, my Desire! What tongue can voice my thanks to Thee? I was heedless, Thou didst awaken me. I had turned back from Thee, Thou didst graciously aid me to turn towards Thee. I was as one dead, Thou didst quicken me with the water of life. I was withered, Thou didst revive me with the heavenly stream of Thine utterance which hath flowed forth from the Pen of the All-Merciful."
Baha'u'llah35

Gratitude List:
Ten Things I am Thankful For

Today I am grateful for the prayer Baha'u'llah revealed for the nineteen-day Fast. Even though, because of age and medication, I no longer fast I can still say the prayers and meditate.

Today I am thankful that I have 2,565,109 GPs in my Gift Points account. I need only 1,549,391 GPs to purchase another Premium Plus membership, which is due by May 15, 2018.

Today I am grateful for the sleep I got last night, because I woke up rested this morning. For once, I was able to sleep through the night without any disruptions.

Today I am thankful that I have a working internet connect, because I can access the website BahaiTeachings.org36. This website contains thought provoking articles about the different aspects of the Baha'i Faith and sacred writings.

Today I am grateful for having De as a housemate because she keeps me company, and does the housework that I have difficulty doing.

Today I am thankful that my Bank of America checking account is not overdrawn. This is something I have not put on my gratitude list in a while, and it is something I am always grateful for even thought I do not always put it on the list.

Today I am grateful for my brothers and sister. I know they love me, and that they pray for me.

Today I am thankful that I have 777 Community Recognitions.

Today I am grateful for fresh brewed coffee. This is something I normally put on every gratitude list I make. That's because regular coffee is my second favorite liquid refreshment. My number one favorite liquid refreshment is cafe mocha.

Today I am thankful that we were able to get Girl Scout cookies this year.

Poem Written on the Seventh Day of Fast

The grandeur of art
is in its ability to connect
heart to heart
and soul to soul.

The glory of a poet
is in metaphors
and similes expressing
reality.

The greatness of a painter
is in the way
colors and thought
combine
to reveal beauty.

The majesty of a sculptor
is in the curves
and lines
of the statue.

The dominion of art
merges mater and spirit
to create
the vision
of the artist.

‘Idál (Justice), 6 ‘Alá’ (Loftiness) 174 B.E. - Wednesday, March 7, 2018
Sixth Day of Fast

"Justice is not limited, it is a universal quality. Its operation must be carried out in all classes, from the highest to the lowest. Justice must be sacred, and the rights of all the people must be considered. Desire for others only that which you desire for yourselves. Then shall we rejoice in the Sun of Justice, which shines from the Horizon of God."
Abdu’l-Baha3738

Justice is something everyone wants and seeks. I wonder how many people realize that in order for individuals to have justice for themselves, they must also help other people achieve it. In The Hidden Word, Baha'u'llah tells us that justice is God's best beloved, and defines it as seeing with the eyes of our own mind rather than just accepting what other people tells us. In order to have justice, we have to search for truth ourselves. We have to use our minds to question our actions and the prejudices we were raised with.

Poem Written on the Fifth Day of Fast

Justice is not blind
it looks at everyone with
an open mind.

Justice is not blind
it looks with a searching eye:
asks the reason why.
