this poem sounds like she is country and he is a bit rock-n-roll type. They are two things but appear to blend well.
My review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations and have a great day.
You did say it is "nonsense" verse. But, to me it makes sense albeit in lines that lack grammar. But then, that is part of the charm of poetry. Isn't it?
"Different we sweet"
You give the reader the job to decipher the meaning. I find the activity quite engaging.
Matching and agreeable combinations are always pleasant and intend to impart joy.
The last two lines provide the answer as to why certain things are created that way.
an impressive poem of deep thoughts of the past, a past that returns not. This review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations on the occasion. Have a lovely day.
The empty bench under the colors of fall speaks of loneliness. This image speaks for itself and acts like prompt for the following verses.
It is a world without romance and the companion. A world given to ponder the past with striking indifference.
No longer bound by love.
Blown by the winds of dispassion, they found their individual destination.
Structure-
Impressive structure that suits the content of the poem, a long line tapering to a line of single word. It shows the gradual depletion of love to me.
I find rhyming remarkable. Form is commendable. Balancing content and form is rare feat of excellence.
I find this free verse composition quite thoughtful and thought-provoking as well. Its tone of having gone through several experiences to finally reach the conclusions you drew, comes through with clarity.
Congratulations on celebrating WDC Account Anniversary. Have a great day!
"In ourselves we have a world that meets the great beyond,
Out of pure being we are,"
Lines of like the ones above inspire me to think of the people outside without prejudice. They don't change. I can, by improving my vision of others and become more understanding rather than angry or happy.
"Out of pure being we are,"
Man is basically good. But "darkness" makes them afraid and hence the changes in personalities.
Your thoughts about the The Old Iron Bunk Bed in the Backwoods Christian Camp are charming and valuable for those who understand what peace and joy mean.
This review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations on completion of another year at the WDC. Have a lovely day.
I absolutely loved this descriptive essay on the summer camp where people gathered for relaxation, service and sports.
The lunch hour solitude and entertainment you find are a kind of relaxation for the body and mind. The woods near by add to the general feeling of contentment.
Clearly, this is a favorite haunt for you.
" I find the peace and serenity that I've come to associate with this camp."
It is a kind of path showing essay in which you have so well revealed, what we can do in times of restiveness or idle spending of time.
Hi,
I find your observations on love rather intriguing. This review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations on being a creative member of the WDC for another year. Have a great day.
There are contradictory qualities of love, which you short listed here.
"There is nothing more meaningful,
And less significant,"
Love is not merely physical or expressive of evanescent emotions. It is much more and above the changing facets of life.
Love is nicely personified. You give human characteristics to an emotion that rules planet earth to great extent from times immemorial. No one can monopolize love. It is everyone's. Anyone who is capable of feeling its tremors in their soul, will have him for as long as they want. The moment you give up on him, he vanishes to fresh pastures.
Love is not merely physical. It dwells in body, soul and spirit. No matter you are brave or faint-hearted, love visits all. We need to welcome into our lives, into our hearts. Yes, you are right when you say it is addictive.
this is a touching story and I was pretty anxious for the little boy who got lost. My review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations for being with the WDC for one more year doing your creative work. Have a wonderful day!
It is actually difficult for a small girl of eleven to look for her younger brother of five. Still I admire her nice way of dealing with washing his hands smeared in chocolate and getting him in line for the long hot day's activities arranged by their church.
Your description of her state of mind full of panic, when she noticed her missing brother is true to life.Full marks for her search and finding the lost child and soothing him very well. What a support she is for her small brother! I think the bonding between them became much stronger after the incident.
Told in flowing prose, the story is well narrated.
this is a thoughtful and enjoyable poem. I found it in Stormy's Poetry Newsletter.
It is a slice of life you presented in this appealing rhyming poem.
Each line shows the affinity and regard you have for each other besides love and affection. You both live the roles of a husband and wife team in the best possible way.
"You give to me, and I return to you
a love that always seems to be like new."
Isn't this harmony the charm of marital life?
"We pay the monthly bills and whack the weeds,
and then go out to plant some pansy seeds."
I can't miss the humor blended with realities that surround every household.
"This love we have is not a fairy tale."
I would say "This love" is more appreciable and definitely more interesting.
A beautiful write that flows well, with fine imagery and sparkling humor.
This short Thanksgiving lipogram poem is attractive and interesting. My review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations for being a creative member of the WDC for another year. Have a wonderful day.
Appropriately, you started first with offering gratitude to God for this creation of species and life. You have a novel way of calling life H20(oxygen)
Food is mentioned as something special because without the sap of energy life cannot continue.
A short sweet poem excluding the letter "e". Well, that takes effort and concentration.
It is wonderful to see the shining apples of Topsfield, Massachusetts. My review of this nature poem is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations on completing another year at the WDC. Have a wonderful day.
It is not for nothing that Autumn is hailed as the season of plenty. The harvest and the Thanksgiving are memorable events. The festivals are justified by the reasons behind them.
Color and nature imagery is beautifully used to bring out the colors of autumn when nature relaxes as the harvest is done.
"Noting the foliage
Golden, orange, scarlet"
This acrostic on autumn is well written. Poetic style is appealing as is the imagery. It is visual and is close to reality.
I am truly stunned by the end result. This review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations for being an active member of WDC for another year. Have a wonderful Anniversary dear friend.
Mark's life in the woods is a rare kind. Man being social animal, it becomes tough to live alone. However, Mark I think is the hidden recluse in all of us. At some point, I think we do long to be alone without much noise around us.
Your description of his thoughts and his decision to go to town are interesting and very realistic.
It is a thing of irony that he encounters a ghost town with the residents being killed by aliens. Even if he needs society, it is not available, only inglorious death in the hands or at the "prominent canines" of a blood thirsty wolf.
Speaking of handkerchiefs I am eternally addicted to carrying one with me. Not tissue papers for me. There is no comparison betwixt the two.
Handkerchief pursuing the homeless guy makes a hilarious scene. The fine texture and the color blue are certainly attractive and there is no reason why the man couldn't retrieve it before the wind carried it away.
The pencil painting is equally nice.
Lines scribbled on the ludicrous pair are rhythmic and get the focus of my imagination.
Short lines scrolling down the page show the poet's urge, the value of his poems that remains permanent in the hearts of people despite death.
I come across reflections on aging and the diminishing stage of life, all but inevitable. What remains are the urge to write and die-hard poetic talent.
"The poet may age
and pass away
but what he writes
is here to stay."
The ultimate truth is pleasing though the strength is seeping away.
Imagery shows the effort and ease of fine expression.
An honest confession.
Lover misses beloved. Description of feelings is true to life. Watching someone you like from afar, stay in the shadow and keep appreciating her/his movements.
Real heart break is when you know someone you love banishes you from her/his company.
The final two lines bring up the aftermath of rejection. What a tangled web! Problem is when the you don't get direct about your feelings, I suppose.
Quite a dramatic poem in the sense that the reason for anxiety is revealed in the end.
"I shelve the anxiety.
Frustrated by my fractures."
I can see why you are so concerned of the "moment" ending soon.
However, despite "fractures" you could feel the light, the temperature, the touch and the feel of the body next to you.
The control of the feelings over the body is well explored.
Hi Sandra
this is a beautiful story told at a leisurely pace with many interesting incidents. The idea of love blossoming in the midst of a mind-blowing pandemic is excellent.
The two characters are well defined and the way they met over the fence is novel. The gradual growth of love between the two happened in a natural manner. I think that is how love should take root.
Description of the pandemic, the testing and the fear are played well just as the wedding that took place in a street. Everything is possible with love in their hearts.
this is a mature poem with a lot of sense. My review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations on the completion of another year at the WDC. Have a wonderful day.
I like this poem because you showed what letting go is. Understanding the one you love is a rare quality. I thinks this poem shows how to be generous enough to realize that what works for you doesn't work for the other.
Though painful, this experience of letting someone out of a situation which you cannot better is great. It grants freedom to both and what is more important than freedom whether in love or life?
Imagery is visual and it helps me see the situation between the two of you.
this is a nice analysis of two lives, one which had a wasted life and the other surrounded by love and care.
When death arrives one should be able to rest well in its arms. It is inevitable anyway.
The lines below sent a wave of chill up my spine.
"only that death's final call
has not yet rung its peal."
I think it is the finality about this unknown end of life that renders me a bit overwhelmed.
Another key observation in this poem catches my attention.
"for God blessed me with reason to live:"
With a reason to live, life attains the color of fulfillment. Peace and contentment follow in its wake.
There are a number of valuable truths of life in this poem.
It imagery appeals to me.
Rhyme and rhythm go hand in hand.
The flow is poetic and quietly impressive.
So, this face to face with the silence in the forest brings out the buried past to the open. Also, I note that the unfortunate incident that happened to you has something to do with the forest and the smell of a rotten tree. You knew it and when you were in the midst of the woods, away from civilization, it comes out of your conscience and stands facing you.To me, it looks like fear born out of a feeling of guilt.
"... you have created by hiding an unfortunate event in your past?"
Keeping the secrets is like carrying unnecessary baggage on the back.
The fear of becoming mad if the ceaseless silence continues is also of importance.
I think the solution lies in ending this fear by opening the past and getting rid of the skeletons in the cupboard.
I found it interesting to go through the web of fear that the mind conjures.
this poem on the loss of your mother is quite touching. My review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulation on being an active member of the WDC for one more year. Have a wonderful anniversary.
Your lines on the sadness at losing mother reaches out. The loss of a dear one is well shown in this rhyming poem. It is a memorable tribute to her.
The title shows the incident of a mother's demise taking place in November. The rain helped you give way to grief stricken tears.
"Now the drops that are falling are like tears.
I mix them with my own,"
With no way of getting them back, the best that could happen to us is the treasure of memories left behind. They bring solace to an injured soul.
The dialog between the departed and the living continues through the thick and thin of life.
It flows well with perfect rhyming and word choices.
Hello,
it is certainly gratifying to know the role of engineers in designing the right kind of masks, beds and ventilators for the Corona patients and various other necessary tools meant to control the Corona virus.
Vaccine is as important as the means of curing the patients. Both the doctors and the engineers could be termed as front line warriors.
The invention of vaccine is truly a victory for man's determination and brilliance. Let us hope we will soon see the end of the deadly Corona in the near future.
This article goes a long way in creating awareness among people about those who work hard behind the screen.
Yes, it is a truly helpful poem. Just to think of the loved one being seen in every feature of nature makes us imagine him being right with us.
Imagery is drawn from the sun, the sea, the rain, the whole life in general.
" I will live on and continue to be a part of your life.
Because I will always love you."
This is how I would like to imagine my loved one. Ever with me, which in turn fills me with courage and joy.
Hi Serena,
I enjoyed reading this romantic story.
The dialog is very well delivered. It is appealing because you appropriately mentioned bits of past in between the conversation and made the reader aware of what came to pass them by.
If he were so absorbed in her thoughts, why did he marry? He could have just waited for the same chance to meet his old love without being divorced and left with a five year old boy.
That apart, I appreciate the gestures of love and feelings the characters undergo.
this is a touching poem that reflects the poet's destabilized state of mind that denies age-old concepts of love. My review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations on having completed one more year at the WDC.
Have a wonderful day!
The refrain-
"I don't know anymore....."
shows that the poet has either lost or about to lose faith in love. It happens when you are shocked at the turn of events and do not have any reason to believe in love.
The view-
that love might not exist anymore is born out of personal experience. This is a natural outcome of frictions in life.
However, the fact is that the stars, the roses and the eternal love of Romeo and Juliet still remain the unchallenged symbols of love.
Various references to nature and the attractive concepts of love in the Bard of England's plays are apt and appealing.
Poetic style is equally winsome.
Imagery and symbol mix and make the poem a powerful read.
Hi Donna,
it is a impressive story, the true story of a mother's situation when she has to let go. My review is for your WDC Account Anniversary. Congratulations on completing another year of creative writing at the WDC. Have a wonderful day.
Your narration is gripping from the beginning of the story. The bond between a mother and child cannot be described in words. You have shown the feelings of their belonging together very well indeed. The story is winsome because it is based on real life.
It is difficult to give up attachment. However, we should realize that the deeper the attachment is the more difficult it is to give up.
The decision you made at the end is quite sensible and in the order of things. Life changes and so should people, especially, mothers.
