Good job Lynda.
This piece hits home because of this one paragraph:
Damn't , he thought to himself, I shouldn't have sent a rookie to begin with. I should have sent Jim. He's been over here three times now and says he is taking another tour when this one is over. Then there's Brady. His wife left him while he was on his first tour and he vowed he wouldn't go home again. He said if he left the service he would become a mercenary. Weems understood, because his wife took off with someone else while he was on his second tour. He made the service his life. I've only been shot twice, so I'm doing pretty good for an old man.
Truth is, my first wife did the same thing and left me on my 2nd tour in Vietnam, I decided then to make a career in the Army. You'd be surprised how many professional soldiers started out this way.
Thanks
A little rough on the edges, without the bitter taste and smell of war, but pretty good.
Very well done turtlemoon. You have a fine grasp of the peoples' ways and a smooth way of telling it. You would have made a good stick talker in the old days.
I am happy I dropped it.
delusional? Maybe
No. I enjoy your humorous writing although I don't as a rule read humor.
I'm too much of a serious old fart.
Anywaaaaaay, I really enjoyed this and your writing style is smooth and clever.
I'll be back.
Vicious raptores?
Very well written my fried. You have a smooth engaging style of writing that is easy to follow.
I think you would do very well writing a novel, especially a scary one like the King does.
I will be back for more.
Very interesting story. Kind of makes a person think.
I recommend you break it into smaller paragraphs for easier reading.
Many readers here don't like to read lengthy pieces and shy away from them.

Well written and kept me reading until the end. I highly recommend that
you break it into easier to read paragraphs, perhaps into smaller segments.
Many readers here are turned off by lengthy pieces of work even if they
are very good.

I would recommend that you separate the paragraphs for easier reading.

I had to read this one Nikola.
Hits the heart and soul.
I have suffered from PTSD for 40 years or more so I feel it in my mind.
I just finished a NEW tribute to out veterans at
An excellent piece of work Connieann. I am history buff by choice and through study and I particularly enjoy historical pieces. This was well done, smooth, and informative. I am out perusing ports and decided it's time to hit the moderators, they are - after all- writers first. The trip so far has been great.
Thanks for sharing.

I love to read these poems of love. I wrote one for my wife "A Wonderful Life" and enjoyed it.
I especially like the fact that you write because you like to write, not to get it read. I do that also.
You like werewolves, I wrote a poem "The werewolf of Halloween" you might enjoy.
This was a well done poem.
I am no poet, but enjoy reading poetry.
