Planning to Impress Zach

Bryan's mind remained abuzz from anticipation of his impulsive scheme to mail himself to his nephew.

He imagined he could command some newfound respect from young Zach once he discovered his uncle's amazing scientific breakthrough.

Bryan knew, however, that at least part of Zach's resentment had some basis in reality. His research into the shrinking formula had consumed him for the past few months. Zach, who really looked up to Bryan, probably felt neglected.

Bryan chuckled. "Well, he'll be looking at his Uncle B. in a whole new light when I arrive at his dorm via the U.S. Postal Service," the scientist said.

Bryan decided to get some rest. According to his plan, tomorrow would be a big day.

He stripped down to his boxers and then crawled beneath the covers of his bed.

Sleep proved elusive, however, since he found he could not get get thoughts of shrinking out of his mind. After a long period of tossing and turning, he finally managed to slip into a rather fitful sleep.

Bryan heard loud, muffled voices and suddenly intense light blinded him.

"WHAT IS IT, ZACH?"

"DON'T KNOW!" Zach answered his roommate. "FUCKIN' BOX LOOKS EMPTY."

Bryan yelled as loudly as he could. "Wait! I'm in here!" He tried to shield his unprepared eyes from the bright light.

Suddenly, his world lurched and he felt himself falling.

Zach and his roommate looked down as a pale speck dropped onto Zach's desktop.

"WHAT THE—"

"I THINK YOUR UNCLE SENT YOU A FUCKIN' BUG, MAN!"

"IT'S JUST LIKE HIM!" Zach said in a thunderous tone of disgust.

Bryan's vision began to clear in time for him to gaze up at the two colossal young men. "Zach! Look closer! It's me...your Uncle B."

"WELL, THIS IS WHAT I THINK OF HIS DAMN BUG." Zach extended a single finger and lowered his fingertip toward the tiny bug.

"Nooh! Wait! Don't!" Bryan screamed as the massive fingertip descended toward him.

Bryan awoke with a start. Within seconds details from the dream began to fade, but he still felt shaken.

"Just a dream," he muttered. It wasn't enough to persuade him to change his plan.

Bryan pulled on a robe and went to his kitchen. He needed some coffee to face the day.
