At that moment, Tommy wasn't listening. "Damn, man," he said. "Get your foot off that package."
Diego hadn't heard the crunch, but he looked down and saw the mangled remains of the cardboard package. "Sorry," he said as he stooped to retrieve the battered box.
He handed it to Tommy, who frowned. The box looked in shabby shape.
"There was supposed to be some money," Tommy said. "To pay for the shipping costs."
Tiny Bryan knew that if Tommy left with the box, he was doomed to exile in a world of giants. At that moment, he saw the crisp $100 bill on the floor beneath the kitchen table. If he could get to the bill, he could make Tommy see him.
Without another thought, the bug-sized guy sprinted over the floorboards, racing toward the enormous paper currency.
"Is this it?" Diego's huge hand reached down and plucked the bill off the floor.
"Yes, that's it," Tommy responded loudly.
The teenager lifted his tight T-shirt and scratched idly at his stomach, dazzling the tiny unnoticed voyeur with an impressive show. Tommy had a natural muscular body, but enough plumpness to keep his features boyish and charming.
The tiny scientist pulled up short. "No! That's mine!" Mr. Smith screamed irrationally.
Tiny and naked he might be, but he needed to put an end to this chain of errors before matters got even more out of control.
He turned and saw Tommy's huge, bare feet enclosed in a pair of rubber sandals. Trying to think of a plan on the go, he decided that if he could climb onto the bare foot, he could make himself felt by the giant.
What he feared to think about was the possibility Tommy might mistake him for a tiny bug.
"Well, thanks," Tommy said. "I better get this to the post office like I promised Mr. Smith."
Seeing his only hope about to leave, the tiny man tried to run faster while screaming for Tommy not to leave.
