Chapter #6

Nobody knows who dry I am

    by: Sage Author IconMail Icon
A tremendous feat of strength lets Eric rip his arms out of the gum a bit earlier than he would have been able to otherwise. Holding his arms out he grabs for the tiny raised edge of the gold dollar, and then has to swing his feet so that his literally clinging to the coin so that the titan doesn't knock him off with the motion of the coin scraping the gum off the bottom of his shoe. Luckily the gum doesn't struggle much longer and pops free, flying into the grass.

Now normally someone would notice a half inch high bug clinging to a coin they just used to scrape gum off the bottom of their shoe, but Sam, still a little doubting of his senses from the humanoid bug that he had thought might be under the gum, ignores the tickling sensation on the end of his fingers, and roughly shoves the gold dollar back into his pocket, hoping that he's just having a really off day, and that it will get better with time.

Eric is not amused by the titan's lack of belief, as he feels his arms try to rip themselves out of their sockets as he is pushed with great force into Sam's pocket. The miniature scientist is then forced to scramble as the gargantuan Sam stands up, causing the change in his pocket to shift, and nearly sandwiching Eric between a quarter and the gold dollar with enough force to easily reduce the little man to a greasy smear.

With a bit of luck, a small amount of gymnastics, and one move he saw in a James Bond movie staring Pierce B. Eric is able to escape a very messy end, only to feel his whole world rattle and roll as Sam continues on his way, to where Eric has no idea, though he hopes it's somewhere private. His luck however, is terrible in that instead of heading home, his youthful, unknowing captor, headed for a place where he could get a drink. Being under twenty one would usually have been a deterrent from such a course, but Sam knew the bar's owner, and so he got it without much hassle.

Inside the place was packed. Not unusual considering that this place was one of the few places in the county where they asked few questions, and gave fewer answers. Walking up to the bar Sam looked around. He had lost his brother a while back, and hoped he would be able to stay lost long enough to get a quick drink, to erase the little men from his imagination. Tapping on the bar made the bartender look towards him.

"Gimme my usual Joe," he told the man, who appeared to be only slightly older than the one ordering the drink, though the youthful appearance was actually caused by the eyes and face, which would have probably put Adonis to shame. Nodding at the order Joe grabs a bottle from the counter behind him and a small glass and pours Sam his usual. Sliding the glass over Joe puts his hand on the table and Sam reaches into his pocket.

Eric, the little passenger inside Sam's pocket, was well aware of where they were, and was of the opinion that he would have to have a long talk to his boyfriend about his kid brother's behavior. This bar was not one of the best places for the young man, and though Tom and he both frequented the place, Eric felt that Sam was just a little too young for some of the things going on in the place. He was so absorbed by his thoughts that Eric didn't even notice the titan's hand until it grabbed him, and a load of loose change.

Withdrawing his hand from is pocket Sam basically threw the coins at Joe, who was less than amused by the childish antics of his customer. Grumbling about kids today he leaned down to pick up a stray coin, and Sam was so intent on watching him that neither notice the unusual happening on the bar. Eric had gone flying with the rest of the pocket change, and was sitting on a quarter that was perched on a dime so that it wobbled.

Eric was brushing himself off and checking for injuries when another shadow feel over him. He panics as another coin sailed from out of the sky, and in a display of luck that was hard to match the coin hit at the exact edge of the quarter, a piece of the dime, and sent the coin, and the scientist back into the air, this time at the one who had thrown them. The quarter was lucky enough to slide to a stop on the bar, Eric however continued flying, and with a splash found himself in a place he did not want to be, Sam's drink, which was slowly being raised skyward, towards Sam's ever widening maw.
