Chapter #3

The Power Lounge

    by: Keroro04 Author IconMail Icon
This next set of Heroes all share a common connection: the Power Lounge.

Formed 40 years ago from the meeting of a group of escaped US metahuman experiments and the Japanese Sun Goddess Amaterasu, the Power Lounge of the modern day only has Amaterasu still among the roster but the ideals of the initial members still remains. They seek for the protection of the people over any ties to ideal or country, and have prominent members such as Celebrant do what they can to garner both popularity and goodwill.

Amaterasu
Civilian Identity: Amaterasu-no-Okami
Age: Don't Ask
Height/Weight: 6'1"/440 lbs. (Uses magic to appear thin on missions)
Origin: Goddess of the Sun

A long time ago, in the country of Japan there is a tale of a woman who self-imposed herself inside a cave, causing the sun to vanish. Many gods from all over traveled to try to convince her to come out and release that sun back to the world, but she refused to listen because she was in despair. Only when a goddess of the arts stripped bare and danced with the wind with her fat swaying did the woman come out, and gladly reprised her role as the Goddess of the Sun.

That woman's name was Amaterasu, and it was also her bisexual awakening. Since that day she had realized that she was bisexual, she had gotten the urge to travel the world to discover what she liked. Over that period of time, she learned how to use incredible magic strong enough to control the weather, many languages, twenty different martial arts and also how to play many different instruments.

She had also gotten really fat, though she makes herself temporarily thin when she needs to act.

A founding member of the Power Lounge, she has earned many different nemeses, though the chief one to her is the Ox King and his army of demons. Having to constantly use her magic to trick and deceive this great threat to the planet, she has considered calling out to her fellow Shinto gods but refuses to involve Susano-O out of a childish squabble. She does her best to keep up appearances when she is on a mission... but it isn't always perfect and she does occasionally fail to maintain her professional and athletic face to the public.

The Owl
Name: Jackie Calhoun
Age: 38
Height/Weight: 6'2"/300 lbs.
Origin: Bird-based Metahuman Mama

A veteran of the Power Lounge, Jackie Calhoun's mother was one of the founding members of the Power Lounge, with her as the little "Owlet" that followed along after she was born. Inheriting her mother's figure and wings alongside her father's X-Ray vision, she eventually took up the Owl Mantle on her 18th birthday when her mother got frozen in a temporal stasis caused by stopping the Chronomancer, with no known way to free her from said stasis.

Eventually though, Jackie had a son of her own, born as a daughter before deciding he preferred identifying as male. And then a daughter who still identifies as such. And then a second son. All that baby weight added up over time, but she didn't realize it until a talk with someone from outside of the Lounge named Helena Hunt. She was indeed getting soft... but in spite of that she still wanted to be a hero and an inspiration.

Nowadays she's trying her best to diet and shrink back into a smaller suit so she can continue being a hero for at least another decade. With her daughter Carol-Anne Calhoun becoming the second Owlet soon, she is once again falling into stress-eating at the thought of her daughter possibly getting hurt due to her still being somewhat naive. This is only compounded by evidence that her mother is possibly coming out of stasis, and her not knowing how to explain how she's now older than her by a year.

Gold Sparkle
Civilian Name: Daisy Mae
Age: 26
Height/Weight: 5'1"/110 lbs.
Origin: Experimental Android Singer

Gold Sparkle is the premier first creation of Health-Tech, long before it's later development of a mentally enslaving pool of AI sludge known as Omegon. A prime example of how the prototype is better than the final product, Daisy was a much more well meaning individual, both kind and compassionate for all forms of life. Unfortunately, they wanted a weapon and when she refused to kill a civilian she was deemed defective and left to rot in a landfill.

She was eventually found by former Lounger Techno-crat, who rebuilt her into a much more human-like body with synthetic flesh. Nearly identical to a human by looks, the green-haired android still maintained an incredible vocal range for singing perfectly, and maintained a impressive catalog of weaponry held inside of her, from mundane machine guns and sticky bomb launchers to more complex gadgets like Gold Dust, designed to freeze a target in place.

A martial pacifist at heart, Gold Sparkle took to the singing world as Daisy Mae but also joined the Power Lounge in order to protect humanity. She's infatuated with new concepts, so when her manager puts out the idea to meet with a fat-admiring singer by the name of Ashleigh Starr, she finds a whole new world that she had never discovered, and may discover that even her synthetic body can grow softer than she could ever imagine...

The Centaur
Civilian Name: Mark Wallace XV
Age: 30
Height/Weight: 7'10"/970 lbs.
Origin: Mythological Horse Man

Mark Wallace XV is descended from a long line of centaurs, half-humans with the lower body of a horse that served as a vanguard for the British Crown. Or at least, until the American Revolution, when the Mark Wallace of that era defected to the US and instead became a protector of the States. Growing up alongside General Ohio as a former friend, the two had very different different approaches on what they viewed the world should be, with Ohio believing in order and control and Mark believing in the values of freedom.

When they both joined the Power Lounge however, Ohio was always the more charismatic of the two. He was able to become the second in command and eventually leader while Mark just... remained a average member of the group. Granted, he could gallop fast and attack criminals with both his hooves and a rune-inscribed Magical Lance, but due to his timid nature he was never able to really catch the eyes of anyone.

However, with Ohio slowly falling to more conservative beliefs Mark has had enough. He plans to compete against the guy in order to attain the position of leadership within the Lounge, and open it up to everyone who comes in. Unbeknownst to him however, his assistant helping him in these regards is secretly the villain Spotlight, shapeshifted as another unassuming hero and has ulterior goals for getting the horse man into leadership of the Lounge.
