Next up, the Round Table!

    by: NovaGojira Author IconMail Icon
Our next Batch of heroes are members of perhaps one of the longest running teams of all, one which has ran since even before the days of the Delta Event - The Round Table.

Since the oldest memory there has always been a Round Table, a group of heroes ready to defend Queen and Country. Tracing their formation back the days of King Arthur and his Knights, these stalwart guardians will put everything on the line to protect the people of their homeland and the world.

Victori
Civilian Name:Elizabeth Lancaster
Age: 38 ( has thousands of years from past incarnations)
Height/Weight: 6'4"/400 Lbs.
Origin: Faded Spirit of The British Empire

There was a time where Victori was one of the mightiest beings alive. As guardian spirit of the United Kingdom her powers rise and fall with its prominence. At her peak she ruled the waves, Soared through the air on wings of light, her might could reshape the land and her word commanded respect.

Things had started going downhill after her previous incarnations disastrous conflict with her daughter Libertina. Time has not been kind and now she barely has the power to lift an ocean liner. As such, her current incarnation a disgrace to her forebears, once a statuesque pillar of strength she now resembles (to quote an unkind passerby) an overfed Cosplayer, not to mention that due to the changing tides of history her ties to the old Empire are no longer looked on with favour.

But she has a plan to rebrand herself for a modern world. First step? To try and reign in her daughter's excesses.

Pendragon
Civilian Name: Arthur Pendragon
Age: 25
Height/Weight: 5'8"/145 lbs.
Origin: Inheritor of the King's Will

In the great history of the British Empire, there is a legendary king who sits high above the tales of other kings. That king's name was that of King Arthur, known in life as Arthur Pendragon. Leading a large council of knights within the round table he had turned Britain from a small territory into a united empire and fought against the great darkness that befouled the land, including the foul Morgan la Fey and her son Mordred, the Black Knight. Unfortunately, at the height of his power a civil war tore his Round Table apart, giving the Black Knight the perfect opportunity to stab his uncle in the back, killing him.

However, after his death his greatest advisor Merlin rebuilt the Sword in the Stone that Arthur had pulled out to become king, before putting it back in the stone. It was deemed that whoever pulled out the sword would not only inherit the British Crown, but also Arthur's name and, through Arthur's soul being infused into the blade his fighting talent as well. Time passed, and the legend was forgotten... until a street rat being hounded by the British Firms pulled it out effortlessly while trying to defend himself.

This street rat in short order became the new Arthur Pendragon, advised by the sorceress that was the wizard's descendant Merline. He was inducted into the Round Table as a symbol of power rather than an actual crime stopper, but as he slowly realized how little power he had he decided that he'd actually fight to attain true worth in saving the crown. Unfortunately for him, Morgan la Fey, the immortal sorceress she is, is still around. And if death cannot stop the king then perhaps more corruptive means can?

Merline
Civilian Name: Carlie Ambrosius
Age: 28 in Human Years
Height/Weight: 5'1"/190 lbs.
Origin: Advisor of the King

Wherever there is a mighty king there is also a powerful sorcerer, one who is meant to help guide the nation as an advisor. Back in Arthurian times, that sorcerer was Merlin Ambrosius, a elven sorcerer who was the greatest mage of his time. Only eclipsed by the gods, he was obsessed with the belief that he was literally unstoppable, up until his one true friend Arthur was murdered by his nephew.

Merlin eventually met his end in a date night gone horribly wrong, but his bloodline did not end there. He had a daughter, and her name was Carlie Ambrosius. Due to her still being a child when her father was killed however, Britain went for a period of time without a advisor which led to the Dark Ages. Even when she had fully matured, the Europe she witnessed was far different from what she had knew, and attempted to kill her through various witch hunts.

It wouldn't be until the Sword in the Stone was pulled out that she was allowed to return to Britain. While she claims to be a master sorcerer like her father... in truth, Merline does not possess any magic beyond knowing a cantrip used to open and close doors from a distance. Rather, she is a master alchemist, knowing how to mix many different magical ingredients in order to to create great transformations or enhancements. She works to hide this truth, but years of potion abuse have slowly started leaving evidence of alchemical abuse, and she has started having lapses in memory followed by those around her appearing softer than before.

Are these things connected somehow?

Green Giantess
Civilian Name: Elizabeth "Beth" Mayshine
Age: 36
Height/Relative Weight: 6'10" to 100'11"/240 lbs. (Mostly Muscle)
Origin: Gene-Spliced Giantess

Elizabeth Mayshine's first memories were of being used as a lab experiment. Born through artificial means, she was a test subject of Mayshine Labs, a British secret organization that was seeking to build their own super weapons in case the Soviet Union (and later the Atlantean Empire when the Soviet Union separated) ever got the bright idea of using Metahumans to invade the rest of Europe. She was designed to constantly grow stronger with age, more muscle piling onto her body as she grew taller and taller to contain it.

Unfortunately, the universe does not like it when one tries to edit the Metagene, and without proper modifications to the soul this caused major modifications to Beth's body. She grew larger much faster than they predicted, ultimately reaching a hundred feet tall by the time that she reached the age of 18 with no signs of stopping. Not wanting to know how much bigger she could get, they knocked her out and put a limiter onto her, preventing her from further growth and granting her the ability to shrink back down to... mostly human height.

When she was eventually saved by the Round Table and made a member to protect her from Mayshine Labs, it became clear that she was a gentle giant. Seeing her abnormal strength as something that was truly frightening, she turned to using it not to hurt but to help repair damages caused after fights. She longs for a day where she could just stay small and to live a carefree and soft life with her teammates, but with so many people depending on her she continues to participate in the heroic community. If only she could get that peace and relinquish her own metagenes...
