Chapter #9

The Awakening

    by: KitCat27 Author IconMail Icon
Aidan drifts in a sea of blackness he assumes is death, having been woefully unprepared for the terror of the demon lord.

Then, he hears a Voice call his name. It's a very young girl's voice, and he knows he knows it from somewhere, but can't place it.

Then he hears it again, this time it's clearer, but also... Indignant?

"WAKE UP DUMMY!" His sister says directly in his ear, pulling on it for good measure as always.
"Ow!" Aidan cries out in pain. He groggily gets up, adding "Why you hafta puw it".

Aidan doesn't have time to process what was wrong just there when his twin sister lovingly glomps him. After said glomping, Aire gives her brother time to wake up and start to process the situation.

Aidan is shocked enough to be ALIVE after that fight. So that's good, he guesses.

However the sight before him is tough to take in. Before him sits a little girl, who he is actuely able to recognize as his twin sister, despite:
A. The two of them being 19 last he checked
B. They were also human, whereas this kid has WINGS AND A TAIL(and looking closer, tiny horn nubs poking out too!)

Aidan, agast begins to try and ask questions before Aire shushes him, having no anwsers to give.
Aidan inspects his body, realizing he also has acquired a set of small batlike wings, horn nubs, and a pointed tail.

As Aidan's brain starts to melt a little trying to process what any of this means, Aire decides to look around a bit, having decided to wake her brother up ASAP.

The two of them have been sleeping in a huge luxurious bed... For toddlers. Clearly designed for nobility, and featuring sturdy saftey rails along the perimiter to keep the occupants from falling out of bed at night. There are lots of really soft pillows, and the blankets are really nice.

Speaking of nice, their current clothing is equisite... For toddler clothes. The two of them are wearing matching footie PJs in pastel Colors, Aidan in pastel orange and her in seafoam green.

Even the... Diaper she has been dreading acknowledging is nice, even though it is... as she also dreads to admit... Well used.

Directly across from the bed, she sees a pair of curtains that look to be acting as a door. She then finds she can somehow can tell there's some sort of magic on them. But whatever this is doesn't tell her what the magic does, but still knowing stuff is magic is neat, she guesses.

Continuing to inspect the room, Aire climbs out of bed, which isn't too hard when it's on the floor...

Walking is a bit awkward, a normal adult would have trouble when suddenly faced with the coordination of a 3 year old but it's epsecially bad for her, being a highly trained hero who can(well, could) move so fast as to vanish with a single step, or leap many times her own height into the air. Also the padding between her legs is quite thick which doesn't help.

Walking gets a bit easier as she instinctively begins to work her new tail into the mix. She wonders if her tailed friends do this when they walk, never having thought of it before.

Aire suddenly stops with her walking practice as she starts to worry about what happened to her Friends.
