The courtroom, intellectual battlefield of the arbiters of justice. A long ways off from the childish squabbling and playground insults of back in daycare days… let’s fix that, shall we.
On this particular day in the Crèche county courthouse an intense case was already underway. Well, not really that intense, rather standard, really. But it felt rather intense to poor Molly, our defendant. What has she done to deserve such a lawsuit? Well, even she isn’t sure, something about a contract she was allegedly conned into signing and apparently breached at her own peril. And presto servo, Molly was being sued. Sued by those who couldn’t even be bothered to show up to sue her. Rather, the only one present on the prosecuting side was a high powered female attorney, Trisha Park. Beauty, intimidating presence and an absolute willingness to go for the defendants throat. She’d spent the morning painting Molly with a broad brush as a wicked, conniving irresponsible woman who needed to face consequences.
Certain parts of her argument didn’t sound completely untrue to Molly in the moment. She wasn’t the most litigious or well read, maybe just a teensy bit irresponsible. As a result she wasn’t quite as financially well-off as she could be. She couldn’t even afford a lawyer, let alone a good one. Her public defender, Mick Gimples, was far less impressive compared to his prosecuting counterpart. She was chic, sharp and seemingly unstoppable. He was frumpy, scattered and desperate. Especially when it came to ending his losing streak. Though he’d never tell his client that.
And presiding over the case was the honorable Judge Roberta Rennabac. A seasoned professional who’d seen it all, perhaps to the point of becoming jaded. She was ready to call recess as soon as the prosecution finished her closing arguments and the defense follows with his. From there the jury would deliberate and she’d finally get some lunch before this whole thing settled and she could move on.
But what kind of nail biting courtroom drama would this be without a good twist. And what better twist than at least one of these adults suddenly and inexplicably becoming an adult baby. Don’t bother asking why, the real question is who?
