Deciding that it was best not to stay in one place, Bennett had to go into town. In his head he knew that it wasn’t going to be simple. Since he was now in the body of the Electro Archon, he couldn’t just walk by without being noticed. Though, this risk was better than staying here wasting time.
Bennett slowly opened the doors and peeked into the hallway seeing that there were no guards anywhere to be seen. He figured that if he was in the presence of an archon’s home then there would have been guards around every corner of this huge temple. To his surprise, there was no one. He did still move slowly, sneakily going from corner to corner and from time to time tripping on his high heel sandals. He leaned down to adjust the sandal.
“Argh these heels! How can someone walk around wearing these?” He said in annoyance.
He managed to get to the exit of the temple without any guard noticing him. The cautious boy was confused. He didn’t see not one guard at all. In fact, the whole temple was quiet. As Bennett placed his hands on the door ready to open it, he heard screams coming from outside. His adventurer instincts came in and opened the doors wide open to investigate the screams. The first thing he saw were the guards acting crazy.
“W-What is this?! Why am I a man??”
“Why are you me??”
“W-Why do you have my face??”
“Woof! Woof!”
All the guards in front of him were clearly freaking out. Some were pointing to one another, covering themselves up in panic, touching their faces and one was acting like a dog. Bennett was in disbelief and confused at the sight, but still had to avoid them. He took advantage of their distraction and sneaked through the side reaching the entrance of the temple.
“Okay now that I’m out I need to find Fischl fast.” He said with determination and looked back at the guards still confused. “Although what’s with them?”
He couldn’t afford to waste time, so he rushed down the large stairway going straight into town. He hid behind the first building he saw only to again hear tons of screams and panic from citizens. He peeked his head again to witness the same thing that was going on with those guards.
Bennett’s eyes widened, “What the??”
“WAHHH!! WAHHH!!”
“Now, now it’s okay, it’ll be alright.”
“Eeeek! Stop touching my body you pervert!”
“Hehehe…”
“W-Why am I a girl???”
“Chirp. Chirp.”
It was the same sight from before. The citizens here were acting unhinged. People were freaking out pointing at eachother, a grown adult was crying as a toddler was comforting her, multiple women fondling themselves, elderly people panicking, people touching their faces in utter shock and a person acting like a bird. There was even a bird from a tree frantically moving around and trying to get that person’s attention. There was much more chaos from beyond what he was witnessing.
As Bennett was seeing the same scenario that he saw not too long ago, he retracted his head back trying to make sense of all this.
“What in the world?? Everyone is acting like… they’re not themselves. It’s as if they also swap with one another-” After saying that to himself, Bennett realized the real situation. “Wait a second, that light from the circle, I caught a small glimpse of it going into the sky and- Don’t tell me I made everyone in the world swap?!”
He screamed in his head upon figuring it out. His reckless action had caused this entire mess. If this is how people in Inazuma City were reacting then everyone all over Teyvat is also freaking out right now. Considering that Bennett had swapped with someone from Inazuma all the way back in Mondstadt, there were likely lots of people experiencing the exact same thing. Some may have swapped with someone nearby while others may possibly be halfway across the world. The guilt immediately went to Bennett’s head.
“AHHH! I did all this and it’s my fault!”
He shaked his head left to right with his hands on his head in horror. The amount of dangerous outcomes that will happen because of this situation spelled all kinds of trouble. Bennet compared this situation as practically destroying the whole world.
“Oh no what am I going to do?? This is so much to take in! I’m responsible for all this! I don’t know if I can do this I-”
“ENOUGH!”
Bennett flinched, “H-Huh?”
He opened his eyes after hearing that sudden shout. He looked around to find nobody here but he was sure the voice was close. Close enough that he heard it loud and clear in his head. The voice sounded the same as the Raiden Shogun’s.
“Uhhh is someone there-”
Right as he was about to ask, he was stopped by a sudden pain in his head.
“Arrgh what is this?! Why is my head-”
“YOU HAVE SOME EXPLAINING TO DO!”
The mysterious voice responded again as the rush in his head continued. As Bennett couldn’t handle this out of nowhere pain he closed his eyes for a second. When he opened his eyes, he found himself in a completely different place. He didn’t know where he was but he was sure he wasn’t in Inazuma.
Everything around him seemed uninhabited and the sky had a purplish-red tint to it. He looked around anxious to even take one step. Upon looking, he saw that he was himself again. He was somehow back in his body and he didn’t know why.
“What the, I’m me again? This whole thing is-”
“There you are!” Said the voice behind him.
As he turned around he saw the Raiden Shogun, standing right before him. She had a stern look on her face that did not look friendly at all.
“You are not Ei, state your name now!”
“Ah! I-I’m B-Bennett! I am an adventurer from Monsta-”
“Enough! Explain how you got into this body now!”
“AHHHH!” He yelped again. He was trembling from the presence of the shogun. “W-Well I was in a domain a-and there was this magic circle t-that made everyone in the world switch bodies and-”
“Magic circle? And did you activate this magical circle with the intent to steal this body?” She asked in a serious tone.
“N-N-NO HONESTLY! This is all just one big accident that’s all! The circle activated on its own and caused this huge mess! Everyone right now is in a frenzy including your citizens-”
“MY PEOPLE ARE IN FEAR BECAUSE OF YOU?!”
“No it’s not my fault! I swear! But I’ll find a way to fix this mess, promise!”
The Raiden Shogun didn’t say anything for a good minute. Bennett was on his knees quivering. It wasn’t until the shogun then responded back with a premise.
“If you plan to fix this mess then you shall follow my every command! Is that clear to you?”
“Y-Yes! Very clear!”
“And if you are to inhabit this body you will obey every rule I give you!”
“Yes! I wouldn’t do anything to disrespect or defile you!”
“Good. Now that it is decided, you will tell me more on what is currently happening.”
“O-Of course but if I may, I do have one question.”
“Which is?”
“If you’re really here talking to me, then does that mean that you aren’t in my body?”
The Raiden Shogun looked at him in a confusing manner, “I believe you are confused. Who you are talking to now isn’t Ei, I am a puppet created by Ei that oversees Inazuma while Ei is away, mediating here in the Plane of Euthymia.”
Bennett stood there even more confused from listening to her explanation.
“Umm, what?”
