This choice: Adam Johnson, the sexy boytoy • Go Back...Chapter #2Amber's Inaccuracy, Adam's Curse by: Reneg4de "I've got you now..."
From across the crowded cafeteria, Amber took careful aim, eyes narrowing as she focused on on her target. Alisa, utterly oblivious to the witch currently eyeing her, continued to innocently chat away to her friends.
All damn day, I've been waiting for this opportunity! Amber growled, building a magical charge within her hand. Normally, she had to make physical contact with her target to inflict them with her magic, but she had been practicing recently with ranged magic. All her tests at home, bar one, hitting plastic bottles and making them change sizes had gone smoothly, so she had decided to move onto a new target. Specifically, the boyfriend thieving bombshell, Alisa. Okay, magic feels stable... concentration is good, target is clear... aaaannnnddddd...
"Hey, babe!"
Just as Amber released her cursed blast, her carefully laid plan began to go a little, well... wrong.
At the last possible moment, Adam, her ex-boyfriend whom she was trying really incredibly hard to win back via any means necessary, crossed in front of Alisa, her target, meaning Amber could only watch helplessly as her curse, meant for Alisa, zipped towards her true love, slamming into her back and being absorbed by his body. Adam instinctively straightened up, and even across the cafeteria, Amber could feel him shudder as her curse took hold.
"Oh, no..." Amber whispered in utter horror. "Oh no, no, no! I've... I've cursed Adam!"
She stared for a few moments, watching as Adam glanced around in minor confusion before returning his attention to Alisa and his friends. As he took a seat, Amber, shocked and horrified with herself for cursing her dearly beloved, began to quickly weave a counter-curse. It was still early enough that she could fix this, as long as she could get close to him!
Standing, she ignored the curious questions from her own friends, Ethan and Amelia, and began to walk towards Adam, her amber eyes never leaving the back of his head. Keeping her gaze locked firmly on those wonderful, brown curly locks, she finished her counter-curse and -
"Can I help you, Amber?"
- was pretty much immediately spotted by a sporty dude sitting next to Adam, who called out her approach and revealed her existence to the entire table. Adam looked over, eyebrow raised, while Alisa spun round in her seat, her sapphire eyes icy and stern gaze cold.
"I... uh... was hoping for a word with Adam?" Amber asked hopefully.
"Not a chance," Alisa answered instinctively, narrowing her eyes.
"I'm sorry, is your name Adam?" Amber snapped back. "Last I checked, you were called Alisa! Unless you're getting a sex change and changing your name to Adam, butt out!"
"Amber, chill," Adam finally spoke up, sounding weary. Whether that was from her curse beginning to wreck havoc upon his body, school in general, or something else entirely, she wasn't quite sure. "If you'd caught me on a good day, sure. But this week has been exhausting. Can whatever you want wait until after the weekend?"
"Uh, well..."
Right before Amber could speak, the bell rang, signalling an end to lunch. The entire cafeteria began to move as one, chairs squeaking as the students began to move. Adam, Alisa, and their two friends whose names Amber just couldn't care less about, all did the same. Wrapping a protective arm around Adam's waist, Alisa final glare towards her was full of venom, before the couple striding off towards their final class of the day. Amber was left stood alone, the counter-curse in her hand dissipating as she helplessly watched them go.

"One sec, babe, need to hit the bathroom".
"No problem. I'll see you after school then?"
Adam nodded, leaning down to plant a kiss on Alisa's cheek. She beamed up at him before striding off, her heeled boots clacking against the tiled floor. The moment she was out of sight, Adam allowed his shoulders to slump, a wave of exhaustion coming over him.
"Urgh, I feel awful..." He groaned, entering the boy's bathroom. Heading first to the toilet, he spent a moment in the stall, sat on the toilet checking messages on his phone for a few moments, before coming out to wash his hands. Glancing up at his reflection, his brow furrowed in confusion as he thought he caught it almost... twisting? Distorting?
Whatever it was doing, or not doing, he dismissed it as a side effect of his exhaustion. Finishing with his hands, he left the bathroom, heading for his final classes of the day, remaining unaware of what his ex-girlfriend had accidentally done to him.

"God, I thought those lessons would never end!"
Alisa stretched her arms above her head, her tank-top riding up, as she followed Adam out of the school gates. Letting out a blissful sigh, she sidled up next to him, wrapping her arms around one of his.
"Sooooo..." Alisa said, raising a knowing silver eyebrow. "A little sporty birdy told me your family are heading out of town for the weekend. And you aren't joining them either..."
"I've warned that particular little birdy on three occasions now to stop spreading my business around school," Adam replied playfully, though there was a strained edge to his tone. "Maybe a fourth reminder is needed... anyway, yes, they are out of town this weekend. Rachel is checking out some universities and, my parents being as nosey as they are, are going with her. I was gonna tell you, well, now, to be honest. A nice surprise to start the weekend with, ya know?"
"A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one~" Alisa chuckled, following Adam down the street to his truck.
"Quoting Star Wars, are we?" Adam replied, the unexpected quite bringing a smirk to his face. "You just keep finding ways for me to love you more. Of course, this does mean you are now obliged to join me in marathoning the entire series, excluding the sequels."
"Urgh, pass," Alisa quickly let go of his arm, putting a few steps between them. "I don't know if I could survive another marathon after... was it the Lord of the Rings you made me watch last time?"
"Extended editions," Adam corrected her brightly, fishing his keys from his pocket and unlocking his truck. It was a beat-up old thing, something his father had rescued from a scrap yard and, over the course of last summer, he and his father had brought new life to it. Sure, it wasn't economical, it didn't have power steering, and the suspension could be a little less firm, but it drove. "You did well through that one, though. For me, Star Wars is only eight movies, two animated series, and a live action series!"
"Oh, is that all?" Alisa said in mock relief, getting into the passenger seat. "Well, in that case, sign me the heck up!"
"There could be more, but all this new stuff kinda sucks," Adam replied, taking a moment to gather himself in the drivers seat. He had been feeling awful since lunch, and he had zero reason why. Had the cafeteria food finally inflicted him with some horrible illness? Shaking off the awful feeling, he started the truck. "But, glad you're joining me for another movie marathon, babe!"
"I was being sarcastic..."
"I know. I'm just ignoring it."
Driving off, the couple sat in silence for a few moments before Adam could do so no longer. Next to him, his lovely girlfriend was giving him the critical eye, looking him up and down, over and over again.
"Something the matter, Alisa?" Adam asked, stopping at a red light.
"Hmmm..." Alisa hummed in response. Looking him up and down again, she let out an irritated huff, crossing her arms unhappily. "I... I can't place it! Something seems off about you! I just can't figure it out!"
"Off... in what way?" Adam pulled down his visor, inspecting his face in the mirror. True enough, there was something off about his reflection. However, much like Alisa, he was having trouble placing it as well. "Okay, I see what you mean. Well... I do and I don't".
"Ugh, I'm sure it's nothing..."
Waving her concerns away, Alisa turned away from him, looking out the window for a moment before suddenly looking back, suddenly excited.
"Hey, wanna do something? Right now? Go somewhere?"
"That was a sudden shift in mood," Adam noted, pulling away as the light shifted to green. "What'd you have in mind?"
Alisa grinned before answering... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
