You blanched as a hailstone, almost the size of a golf ball it seemed, smashed to the ground in front of you with an almighty CRASH. The impact was devastating, and had you been just a few metres further forward you'd have been struck on the head and probably killed. To you it was like meteorites crashing to Earth, and it was soon going to become a full-on meteor shower.
Another one landed a few metres to your right. "RUN!" Townsend said, and you didn't need telling twice, speeding off at max speed. You headed for cover at the building next to the Calaban tower. You couldn't stay there - it was also being demolished - but for now it had a drainpipe you could crawl under. It was the best you could do in this limited situation.
