Hisashi had no regret over what he told Hinata. He felt it was necessary to her being the best she could be. However, Hisashi didn't think about his daughter for the remainder of the meeting. He and the other elders spoke only of clan business in that dark room for another two hours after Hinata left. Finally, after night had fallen outside, Hisashi stood up.
"This is where we will end it tonight. Have a good night everyone." And with that, he strode out into the night.
When he arrived home a short time later, he found his daughter Hanabi waiting for him at the table, proudly presenting a steaming dinner of Japanese cuisine. Hinata was nowhere to be found. It was common courtesy within the clan not to use byakugan to see through walls; everyone deserved privacy after all.
Instead, Hisashi turned to Hanabi. "Where is Hinata?"
Hanabi looked downcast. "She came home close to tears and has been in her room since."
Hisashi only nodded, motioned for Hanabi to take a seat, and moved to the hallway. He called out. "Hinata! Come have dinner."
Hinata's door opened the smallest amount and Hinata's head popped out from behind it. She looked petrified. Hinata's eyes were swollen from crying and her face was a deep crimson.
