Both Hisashi and Hanabi turned to see she was still in the same clothes she was wearing earlier. The ribbon of shame tied to Hinata's arm on the outside of the coat. Hanabi looked at the ribbon then back to her father, and put two and two together. She politely turned back to her food. Hinata stood in the entry way with a proud stance, determined not to look afraid. Something she was failing at spectacularly. She had wide eyes as she looked at her father, hoping this compromise is good enough for him. She knew she had disobeyed him, but she had also came up with a solution with his problem; she was still wearing clothes, but she also had the ribbon in plain view. She hoped it was good enough for him. It would have been impossible to tell what he was thinking then, his blank stare pierced hers for only a moment before he spoke.
"Hinata, do you remember what I told you about dinner?" Hisashi's question seemed a sincere reminder, but his tone was unmistakable.
Stammering, Hinata had to pause a moment. "Y-yes." She motioned to her ribbon, clearly in view. "I'm not hiding it under my coat."
Hanabi looked to her father is both curiosity and shock. She had no idea what they had spoken about, but Hinata had never stood up to their father like this. Hisashi, on the other hand, barely managed to hide his smirk. His daughter was taking steps to stand up for herself at last. He was a little proud at this. However, it came at the cost of his eldest disobeying him.
