Ms. Smith isn't what you were expecting from a female leprechaun.
For one thing, you never thought about a female leprechaun. Oh, sure, intellectually you knew there were female leprechauns, but you never really gave them much thought. All the representations in movies, commercials and such were of male leprechauns.
If you ever thought about what a female leprechaun looked like, you assumed they would look like Mrs. Weasley in the Harry Potter movie, if Mrs. Weasley was only two feet tall.
Ms. Smith didn't look ANYTHING like Mrs. Weasley. And she certainly didn't dress like any leprechaun you had ever seen.
Ms. Smith stood a foot and a half tall, and looked like she could be a centerfold model for a men's magazine. Maybe she did appear in a similar magazine for fey hotties. You could only hope.
Ms. Smith was wearing a green bikini top, green Daisy Dukes, and nothing else. Her red hair was loose and wild and cascaded down to the small of her back. Her green eyes, set in a fair skinned face with just a sprinkle of freckles, sparkled mischief.
Ms. Smith jumped up on her desk with ease, She wrote her name on the board before turning to face the class.
"My name is Ms. Smith and," she adds with a grin, "I can see none of you has ever seen a lady leprechaun. Well, let's get a few things straight. But first, let me change into something more appropriate."
In the blink of an eye, Ms. Smith grows to five and half foot tall. Your sad to see Ms. Smith's outfit change into a conservative business suit that meets the standards of the school's dress code.
You kind of wish that Ms. Smith's outfit was still a bikini top and Daisy Dukes. Or even better, she had outgrown them.
No such luck.
"Just to let you know, it's a myth that if you catch a leprechaun, they have to give you their pot of gold," Ms. Smith begins. "Even if that were true, I don't have a pot of gold. If I did, do you think I would be substitute teaching at a public school?"
This observation gets a laugh from everyone in the class, including you.
"And I guarantee you would regret trying to catch me," Ms. Smith says in a menacing tone that sends a chill down your spine.
As Smith begins calling roll, you can't help but
