The boy is a canon character of the Pokémon series.
The Pokémon franchise first started out with Pokémon Red and Green, paired versions Game Boy games released in 1996 that would soon become one of the biggest selling franchises in the world. The franchise would not only include more generational games in the ever-expanding world of Pokémon, but is also adapted into its own manga series based on the storyline of the games, as well as an anime television series featuring Ash Ketchum and Pokémon mascot, Pikachu as they travel around the world catching Pokémon.
In this story route, the routes will be divided into three separate routes. The first route will feature the video game series (i.e. Pokémon Generations I - VIII, spin-off games, etc.); the second route will feature the anime series (i.e. Pokémon - Pokémon Journeys, Pokémon movies, Pokémon Chronicles, etc.); and the third route will feature the manga series (i.e. Pokémon Adventures, spin-offs, etc.)
The only question is, which route will you follow?
