The only question is, which of these young male characters do we follow?
Ash Ketchum: The young protagonist of the Pokémon anime series who travels the world along with his partner, Pikachu, Ash aspires to become a Pokémon master. Ash is from Pallet Town, where he lived with his mother until he turned ten, the proper age for a Pokémon trainer to start their journey. Along with Pikachu and his other companions, Ash hopes to win every Pokémon League Conference (but only won the one in Alola so far).
Ritchie: A young rival of Ash's in the Indigo Plateau Conference who beat Ash on account that Ash's Charizard refused to fight Ritchie's Pikachu partner, Sparky. Ritchie is a kindhearted boy who, like Ash, travels around the regions to become a Pokémon master and indulges in the occasional Pokémon research and folklore.
Max: The younger brother of May from the Pokémon: Ruby and Sapphire series who journeys with Ash through the Hoenn region and aspires to be a Pokémon trainer. The son of the Petalburg Gym Leader, Max has an encyclopedic knowledge of Pokémon without the use of a Pokédex. Max is currently working and studying to become a Pokémon trainer so he could battle Ash.

Goh: The young duo protagonist from Pokémon Journeys who teams up with Ash to catch every Pokémon in the world. As a younger boy, Goh witnessed the legendary Mew and dreams of becoming a Pokémon trainer so he could catch it. Goh is ambitious, overconfident, calm, and collected in contrast to Ash's ambitious, excitable personality.
