Lindsay glanced over the rules of her gun and mulled over what this could mean. On the one hand, this kind of power was incredible. she had the ability to give herself the kind of body that demanded attention. She could put others in their place, namely, "beneath her in more ways than one." If she played her cards right, she may even get new kinds of powers.
But, as with so many things that other people did, there were a couple of major flaws. First, she didn't like how she only got rewarded for growing other people, or shrinking herself. That's not how things were supposed to work out for her. The other thing was the matter of this whole "competition" thing. She had a good thing going here, and didn't want anybody to screw this up. What was more, being a towering goddess would only turn her into a bigger target.
The gears ground in Lindsay's head as she tried to think of a way she could get herself into a more favorable position, then slapped her forehead with a perfectly-manicured hand as she realized what could be done.
Lindsay got up from her spotless white bed, went over to her vanity and rummaged around in the Gucci handbag she left on it, and produced the dated flip phone she used for business matters. She opened its contacts menu and selected the first option presented to her. The line rang a few times before a familiar voice picked up.
"L-Lindsay?" panted a voice on the other end of the line, "Is something the matter? I thought our photo shoot wasn't for--"
"Allison," said Lindsay, "My house. Ten minutes."
"But I thought--"
"I don't pay you to think, Allison," said Lindsay. "Ten minutes."
--------
Nine minutes had passed when Allison rang Lindsay's doorbell. Lindsay opened it for her and stepped out into the chilly spring air. She looked around, surveying the rolling hills that extended in all directions from her house, before finally setting her gaze on the key cog in her machinations.
Allison was a short, skinny brunette, with a figure that Lindsay would describe as "waifish" if she was feeling generous. Her round face was punctuated by a pair of rectangular-frame glasses, which served only to highlight her widened hazel eyes as they avoided making contact with Lindsay's gaze.
"I, um," said Allison, "what did you call me here for?"
"Brass tacks," said Lindsay, "I have a ray gun that makes people grow, and I need a giant lackey. Go stand in the driveway." Allison did as she was told, her stunned confusion stifling any questions or objections.. Lindsay nodded appreciatively behind her associate's back. Good help was hard to find, and a spineless nerd who could be trusted with the power to crush a car underfoot was even harder. Allison turned around in the driveway. In the distance, the Uber she had called reached the edge of the Crowe estate.
"What am I supposed to do?" asked Allison. Lindsay responded by producing her ray gun and blasting her minion in the chest with a sustained burst of light. "Wh--oh!"
Allison began shooting upwards instantly, her body emitting a faint blue glow. She buckled in surprise and dropped to her hands and knees. The growing of her form shifted the gravel of the driveway beneath her, leaving swelling waves of tiny white pebbles encircling her body. Lindsay noted with a mixture of curiosity and disappointment that Allison's clothes were left unaffected by the whole affair; apparently her mom-jeans and plain button-down blouse would live to see another day. Over the scraping din of the gravel, Lindsay could have sworn that she had heard Allison moan, but couldn't be too sure.
On the ray gun's screen, a point tally began rising.
"One...two...three..." muttered Lindsay, waiting for a sign that she should stop. On the count of fifteen, she got her sign. The screen began to blink and emit a chirping melody, presenting a message saying "Congratulations! You leveled up!" Smirking, she released the trigger and looked back at Allison.
Allison righted herself and looked in shock at Lindsay, who began walking towards her. As she approached her underling, Lindsay was amazed to see the kneeling Allison looking down at her. Lindsay came to a stop in front of Allison, placed a hand on top of her own head, then moved it forward to touch the newly-grown woman's body. Her hand came into contact with the top of Allison's pelvis, and she grinned.
"Stand up," Lindsay said. Allison, still in shock, got to her feet, her gravel-pocked thighs rising to be level with Lindsay's face. Her legs were shaking like the world's largest baby deer. "Well? How does it feel to be two stories tall?"
Allison glanced down and Lindsay, and then at the house before her. She took a hesitant towards the white marble porch, her legs forming on arch on either side of her boss. A muffled thud accompanied each footfall as Allison approached Lindsay's house. The roof of the porch came up to her waist. She placed her hands gingerly on either side of the polished railing lining the balcony above the porch and looked at herself in the sheen of the double-doors leading to the second floor of Lindsay's home.
"Oh my god," she whispered. "Lindsay, I--"
"No need to thank me," said Lindsay. "Just keep doing what I tell you and who knows? We'll see if I can magic up another gift for you on this thing."
Lindsay glanced down at the options on the screen's level up menu and selected...
