A part of him wanted to abandon this stupid plan and take off immediately, but stayed seated since, what else was he going to do. He didn't have anything else in his life, just an empty home filled with reminders of his failed life. Taking a breath, he steeled his nerves, and listened to their conversations.
"And so I said, 'If you can't tell the difference between Fire Brick and Crimson then what kind of decorator are you?', so I showed him the door." Said one of the wives to the affirmation to the others at the table.
"I know right, it's so hard finding a good decorators these days." Another one said.
"Well at least you got the room painted, we're still trying to figure out how to organize our wine room." A third groused.
"I thought you and Eric already agreed on that?" A fourth questioned.
"No, he went to someone else's place and thought their layout looked better." She explained.
"Alright, enough with our home decor woes," a fifth interjected, "how are the kids doing?"
"Well my little Violet just won her recent tournament, first place as always." The first women spoke up as the others congratulated her.

He spun around and saw that the women he had referred to as the fifth looking at him.
"Do I know you?" She asks as she has a strange look on her face.
"I uh, don't think so." He responds, feeling nervous as the other women have turned towards him.
"Were you sitting alone just now?" She asked.
"Yeah, I was supposed to meet someone, but I think they flaked on me." He responded, wanting to leave this conversation.
"Well why don't you come over and sit with us." She invited to the surprise of everyone else.
"Are you sure Alexis, you don't even know who this guy is." One of the women replied.
"I'm sure, besides I don't know why but," she then looked towards Felix saying, "there's something about his aura that I like."
'Try to absorb some of their aura.' Lyn's words echoed through his head. Clearing his throat, he accepted the invitation and took a seat next to the women named Alexis. As all eyes turned towards him they started to ask ... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
