Chapter #8

A couple of days later, in a California bar.

    by: Unknown
Samantha pushed past some bead curtains and walked into the musty bar, coughing as the stench of sweat, liquor and cigar smoke entered her lungs. The place was rickety and looked like it was about to fall apart, still not as bad as some of the hellholes she'd worked at before she reminded herself. She walked up to the bar to see a muscular man wearing a tight brown T-shirt with a towel draped over his shoulders wiping a glass.

"'Scuse me, I'm looking for someone. His name's Henry, Henry Chen. Seen him around anywhere?" The man grunted before spitting downwards, narrowly missing Samantha's manicured digits. Samantha had half a mind to pull him over the counter there and then and beat his face in but she composed herself and said, "Okay, I'm going to PRETEND you didn't just do that. Now you've got two choices before I lose my temper: either tell me where he is- 'cos I KNOW that YOU know that I know that you know- or I force you to comply. I'll give you three seconds."

The man sniggered as he crossed his arms and glared at Samantha's deadpan poker face. "One... Two..." Samantha grinned as she stared into the man's pale green eyes: she kinda hoped he wouldn't cooperate just so she would have an excuse to practice her powers. A second later and the man's resolve broke and he squeaked that Henry was in one of the back room's, cowering as Samantha strutted past him. Meanwhile a hooker that had just been harassed by two shady guys suddenly gained some courage, pushing them out of the way before flipping a deuce at the douchebags. Samantha was proud of her act of charity but one thing was missing- a moderate sized bulge grew underneath the woman's skimpy skirt as she gained the burly bartender's sweaty junk.

Samantha made her way quietly past the people in the club, passing through a horde of rowdy people pissing about inside. A young couple that had been making out on one of the wall's in front of Samantha had their chests swapped, the flat lady now fondling her boyfriend's juicy breasts under his tank top. Two women that had been dancing erotically for a pair of male twins had their lives swapped with the men, the women now laughing and hollering as the men tried to dance sexily for them in their pinstriped suits and slicked back hair.

Samantha stopped as she spotted a lonesome person mashing away on a keyboard on an isolated table. The man, who she recognised as Henry, was quite scrawny, his muscles basically nonexistent on his slight 5'8" frame. He had messy, uncombed black hair, dorky glasses and almond-shaped eyes to go with his pale, Oriental skin. Samantha noticed he was in his typical nerdy getup, an immaculate tie and suit combo complete with braces and a nerdy The Witcher tee.

Samantha silently slid into the seat opposite him and whispered, "Henry!" Henry jumped, narrowly saving his laptop from falling onto the ground and smashing into smithereens. "What the HELL are you doing here Samantha?! I thought I made it VERY clear that I didn't want any part in one of your stupid schemes again! My parents kicked me out of the basement after the police raided my home at 4AM in the morning!"

"Okay Henry, you and I both know that hacking into the Minister of Defence's computer and exposing her nudes was not 'dangerous to the security of the public', it was just plain HILARIOUS! Anyways, you've never been afraid of repurcussions before!"

"That's because the worst thing we were doing back then was leaking the news that our headteacher was banging his secretary behind his wife's back! It's different now, Samantha; we're ADULTS now, regular old citizens that have jobs, responsibilities. We're not kids anymore. Sorry, it's too risky- my parents have only just let me move back in and I haven't even earnt my other PC back yet."

Samantha contemplated Henry's statement before replying, "What if I told you that you could not only get another, brand-new PC with the money we make but you can also buy your own place, far away from your parents?"

The tips of Henry's lips raised slightly, his nervous frown changing instantly to an excited grin. "When do we start?" They both laughed as Henry ordered some celebratory whiskey shots, the both of them sharing a toast at the expense of Henry's overbearing parents.
