While Samantha was in California, Alex had finally managed to track down Moses, living in the Nevada desert, not far from the town of Hamilton. Stepping off the bus, Alex smirked to herself. A particular annoying child, about 8 years old now had his head on his mother's chubby mature body in one of the front seats. "I hate noisy brats." Alex chuntered to herself, taking in a breath of desert air. She was dressed for the occasion, her long dark hair tied up in a ponytail, and she wore a checkered crop top that tied in the front, a sleevless denim jacket, a thigh-length, imitation snake-skin skirt and a pair of women's hiking boots. The last thing she wanted was a snake bite.
"God what a forsaken shithole!" Alex mumbled. "You'd better be here Moses." She then set off walking, taking her map out for a moment before doing so. She walked for a couple of miles across the barren territory, and as she did so, she understood why Moses had chosen this place to escape from the world, from the authorities. Nobody in their right mind would come here.
Eventually she saw a solitary building in the distance, a run-down house that looked like it had survived a couple of tornadoes. As she approached she tripped a wire, and she instinctively knew Moses had set up an alert system. "What do you want out here Alex??" Moses' familiar, gruff voice, tinged with a slight Kingston accent, called out from the house as he walked out onto the porch, pistol in hand. He obviously recognized her immediately, he had an excellent memory. Moses still sported his trademark dreadlocks, he hadn't shaved for quite some time and probably hadn't bathed either for a while.
"Paranoid as ever, huh Moses?" Alex smiled, shaking her head as she shouted her reply.
Moses shrugged, slipping his pistol into his jeans. "It's how I've stayed alive this long girl, you know that." He said, gesturing her closer. "Well, well, you've only got prettier I see, and what do you want with me?" He inquired. He had an idea it was something 'nefarious'.
"A job, of course. I mean, unless you're retired permanently?" Alex said, wiping her brow.
"Depends what this job is." Moses said, scratching his unkempt beard. He then gestured into his current home. "Come on in, we can talk inside, get out of the heat." He calmly said. "I'll get you a beer."
"Sounds good!" Alex nodded, following him inside.
Once inside, Alex explained all about what she and Samantha had planned, but she decided to leave telling him about her power for now. She'd leave that to Samantha to reveal when they were all together. Moses listened, pondered whether to accept the job, then agreed. The main reason being he didn't want to spend any more years out in the desert, not when he could make a ton of cash and live somewhere much better. "Alright, when do we start?" Moses grinned, rubbing his hands, then taking another swig of his beer.
"That's up to Samantha, she's the boss." Alex answered. "But it won't be until we get Hector Santoro out of prison." She added.
Moses nodded, relaxing in his worn chair. "That'll be something to see." He mumbled, letting his imagination run wild.
