Chapter #3Carl by: Unknown At the moment, Carl was living his best possible life. He only graduated high school a year ago, but instead of all of those sheep who went off to college to get suffocated in debt, he had built a huge internet following with his Deadman’s Debunked brand; what was once an urban exploration Youtube channel, where he and his high school friends stupidly and dangerously did urban explorations in dilapidated and crumbling ‘haunted’ hospitals, prisons and the like, had turned into a paranormal debunking channel after he unmasked a local ghoul to be a disgruntle school janitor. With the catapulting popularity of his channel he capitalized on it by shifting his content more towards paranormal debunking, whether he was traveling with friends to haunted and paranormal locations, or debunking paranormal tv shows from the safety of his ‘studio’ (aka, apartment bedroom). Still, the ad revenue he was generating was quite impressive for someone for his age and he couldn’t complain.
This week started like any other, he was hunched over his desk, looking through his notebook filled with video ideas, from making fun of witches and wiccans, to debunking SCP and cryptid sightings. Carl ended up scrolling through some paranormal internet forums until he came across a chat-thread entitled “New ‘Monstr’ dating app hits mainstream platforms, says you can date real monsters! Bogus or Real?”. Carl scrolled through the thread that almost unanimously said it was stupid, with a few users egging others on to download the app and try to get laid with a harpy. This new app would be easy pickings for Carl. He’d get a great series of videos out of him dating the various ‘monsters’ on the app. At best they were just normal people and at worst adamant, socially awkward cosplayers.
Carl quickly downloaded the app and started writing some scripts for his new videos based on the app. Once Carl opened the app for the first time he noticed a screen that asked him to distinguish himself as a human or monster. He filled out all of the appropriate personality traits, physical descriptions and interests before looking for a match. Soon the app created his profile and brought up a list of female monsters in his area looking for a guy like him. These profile pictures for these monster chicks were fairly convincing… then again, photoshop can do wonders. There were a few that caught his eye quite a bit. There was Palisades, a western dragoness with turquoise scales, a fit physical physique and a similar interest in video games. There was Mandy, a kitsune woman deeply into spirituality who works as a local healer and nurse. And there was Katrina, a vampiress, who loves horror movies and humans who aren’t afraid to share a coffin with her. There were still a few more pages worth of monster matches, but will Carl continue to look for a supernatural date or pick one of these lovely ladies? | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
