Chapter #4

Mandy the kitsune

/Some time between the moment Chad 'right swiped' Mandy and the time of their first meeting/

The garden behind a high wooden fence, situated behind a little house in the suburbs, looked like something that, if a script writer were writing a scene that called for a "small, peaceful, Japanese garden," would be the kind of place used.

There was a small brook running through the backyard with a wooden bridge crossing it. The shrubs were carefully sculpted, and the small trees lovingly tended to and shaped. There were golden koi in a pond that who looked up at any passerby, hoping for a treat between their regular feedings. Even the colors of the transplanted local wildflowers blended into the traditional garden, adding to the serenity of the setting. Though the house that backed up the garden was built along traditional western lines, the back of the house looked like a traditional Japanese one.

In the garden two red foxes, both about two feet long (not counting the length of their tails), were carefully circling around, watching the other carefully. There was a seriousness in their gazes, but there was a hint of mischief about the pair as well.

One of the foxes made a feint to draw the other one out. The other fox fell for it, then tried to draw back in, but it was too late. Suddenly there was a tumble of foxes, with one fox ending up on top of the other, with the other fox on its back. The fox on top took a little nip at the neck of the fox who was on its back, licked the other fox's nose, then scrambled off.

There was a flash of light, and suddenly the two foxes were replaced by two very beautiful women. One of the women was East Asian, wearing an outfit that was tradition in the middle of nineteenth century Japan. Her face was freshly scrubbed, her long hair was loose and hung down to her waist. The woman was laughing, and it was delightful, musical sound to hear.

The other woman was a fair skinned redhead who looked Northern European, and was wearing tight, ragged jeans and a shirt that showed off her flat stomach. The shirt bore the message "Don't make this ginger snap." Like the East Asian, she was also laughing, though there was a rueful note to her laugh.

Despite their obvious differences, both women had a lot in common. They were both young, beautiful, and had trim bodies with firm, very large breasts.

They were also both about two feet tall, and had fox ears instead of human ones. Both were also sporting bushy fox tails. The redhead's ears and tail wear a brighter red, while the East Asian woman's ears and tail wear a duller road,

"Well done, cousin," the redhead said, embracing the other woman. As the two broke the embrace, the redhead added, "Though I could have done without the lick on the face," the redhead added, wiping her nose the fingers of her right hand.

"Just showing that I didn't mean anything personally," the East Asian woman answered, still laughing. "You're still the better fighter. I just got lucky."

"Speaking of getting lucky, Manami, are you ready for your date tonight?" the redhead asked.

A look of consternation appeared on the East Asian woman's face. "I don't know if I should go through with this, Sorcha. This is something someone like you should do. You're a yako, after all. I'm a zenko."

"You're a good person who needs to get out more," Sorcha answered. "All you do is travel between that clinic of yours and home. And the occasional run through the fields with me. If you're going to interact with humans, you need to interact with them." Sorcha said the last part with a suggestive waggle of her eyebrows. This brought a pretty blush to Manami's cheek.

"I interact with plenty of humans at the clinic," Manami answered. Which was true. The clinic Manami worked at (where she was known as 'Mandy,' an Anglicized version of her name) was holistic in nature, and employed both humans and an array of monsters(though the 'monsters' at the clinic were monsters in name only, with all of them being benign and dedicated to healing).

"But you don't interact interact with humans," Sorcha insisted, which was true. Manami had been asked on dates more than once while at the clinic, but always begged off. She insisted that it was because she didn't want relationships outside the clinic to interfere with her work at the clinic. Which was true. But Sorcha also recognized Manami's fear. The other woman wanted to remain in the comfortable shell her life had become.

So Sorcha got Manami to put up a profile on the Monstr App. She even had Manami put the profile under her nickname Mandy, to make her seem more approachable. The picture on the profile was one where Manami/Mandy looked completely human, while her profile info downplayed the fact that Mandy was a kitsune, focusing on her spiritual qualities and the fact that she was a healer.

Sorcha thought that was the best way to keep the furries at bay.

"Speaking of interacting," Sorcha said, looking at the clock, "It's probably time to start getting ready for your date."

Mandy took a deep breath and nodded. In a flash, both women were five foot seven inches tall. Both their tails had disappeared. Sorcha now had human ears, but Mandy's fox ears were sticking out through her hair. Sorcha cleared her throat and pointed at the ears. Mandy reached up, felt them, and giggled. "Sorry, Nervous about this date, I guess." The fox ears disappeared, replaced by human ears.

"So, what kind of outfit should we put you in for your date with this Carl?" Sorcha asked.

"Sorcha, would you like to come along as a chaperone?" Mandy asked.

Sorcha replied

You have the following choices:

1. Sure? What's a cousin and friend for, after all!

2. No. This is something you need to do on your own.
