Chapter #6

Little Lucina's island adventure

    by: Kooplan Author IconMail Icon
With no time to waste, Lucina pressed on. Navigating through the giant plantlife was quickly found to not be easy for her at her new height. Even simple things like stones and twigs became like small hills and walls that the shrunken girl had to deal with or just go around altogether. Lucina prayed that she didn't run into any bandits or such right now. At her current size she would not stand a chance, why even a small animal would be quite the challenging battle if it were feral, and Lucina wondered if she could even overpower an insect while being only 3 inches tall!

After an annoying, but thankfully bug-free, trip through the woods, the time came that Lucina reached the edge of the wooded area, and from just beyond the bushes Lucina could see an open canyon with one large bridge on one side and an incline on the other. Although it was dark, Lucina could make out all of it, including the overgrowth that seemed too familiar to her somehow. She also noticed that there seemed to be many people at this canyon, though Lucina could hardly fathom a guess as to what so many people would be doing at such a place in the dead of night.

Before she could ponder further, a strong gust blew by Lucina's mini form, nearly knocking her over. The surprised girl looked up and saw that it was someone's foot that had caused the force. A giant walked past carelessly, and without seeming to notice her way down on the ground. The tiny young woman gasped, as this was her first time ever seeing anybody that could truly be considered a giant, though the difference in scale was really only because she was so much smaller then normal.

Fearing she might be crushed by the giant unwittingly, Lucina retreated into the bushes, acting not from fear but on pure survival instincts. From her hiding spot she watched the giant man, run right on by her without so much as glancing down at her. He rushed to one of his foes and raised his blade, preparing to strike the human-like figure. What interested Lucina, however, was the familiar sword that this man wielded, it looked almost exactly like her Parallel Falchion.

Could it be..?" Lucina wondered.

A cloud passed in the night sky, letting moonlight shine down on the giant. Lucina gasped as she finally got a good look at him. With his strong stature and bold expression, not to mention the blue hair of his that was practically glowing in the moonlight, there was no doubt in Lucina's mind that this was the man she was looking for. Her beloved father, Chrom.

"F-Father..!" Lucina cried out. She reached out for the blue-haired man, but it was pointless as she was far too small and distant for him to notice or hear her. Clutching her hand close to her heart, Lucina smiled. Her father was in reach, that was all she needed to go on. Whether or not her original plan of concealing her identity from him and the rest of the Sheperds with a butterfly mask disguise was going to continue was not of much concern to her right now, at the moment all the diminished daughter cared about was getting to her long lost father, no matter how small she was.

Lucina wanted to run to him right then and there, but something kept her tiny feet in place. A gnawing on her memories that she couldn't shake. The tiny girl watched her father for a time, amazed at his size and his swordplay in his prime. It was incredible for her to see the man that taught her everything she knew about the blade in action again. She supposed it would be more correct to say he eventually would teach her the art of swordfighting in many years. Time travel didn't make things easy to understand, made even worse when one of the apparent side-effects of Lucina's journey was a great reduction in stature.

Wait... Lucina thought to herself. Something had clicked in her mind while she was watching Chrom fight. He wasn't fighting any normal enemy, it was a risen. And not too far away from the scramble was a risen chief. Lucina's mind started to race as she pieced together where and when she had landed.

Carrion Isle! Lucina suddenly remembered. The name came rushing back to her all of a sudden. It was the place were her father would be gravely injured by the surprise appearance of an assassin after the risen chief in the area was killed. The chief that Chrom was moving onto the bridge to now fight!

"So that's why everything looked so familiar! I must hurry before the attack!" Lucina gasped, now realizing that she had little time to warn or otherwise help her father before events played out like they had in her timeline. So she stepped out from the shrubbery and broke into a run, maintaining a confident stride that Chrom had taught her many years before. Chrom only seemed to be about several yards away from her, but at her smaller scale those yards seemed more like miles...
