Chapter #5The girl who shrank through time by: Kooplan The time had come at long last. Lucina and her friends and allies, were atop Mount Prism. Their fated destination that would let them change their world's terrible fate. Thanks to the help of the goddess Naga, Lucina and her friends were going to be granted the chance to go back in time through the Outrealm Gate and travel to the past, where they'd work together with their parents to save their timeline from ending up like the one that Lucina knew all too well.
However, as luck would have it, Grima and its forces attacked the temple right before everyone could make it through the gate. Lucina, donned with a butterfly mask, nodded to her companions. They were all aware of what they needed to do now. The blue-haired swordswoman especially. She left the enemies to her friends and ran towards the gate.
The fell dragon screeched in anger as its prey escaped. It cried out again, but this time in a summoning of its magic powers. Out from its massive jaw shot a dark-colored beam of swirling magic energy, fired directly into the Outrealm Gate that Lucina had retreated into. While the young woman was long gone inside the portal, the evil magic changed the color of the Gate to a deep red, indicating something had been altered about the mysterious path through time. Yet, none of Lucina's allies noticed this as they were too preoccupied with fighting off the Risen attacking the temple.
Inside the gate however, something unexpected was going on. Lucina's trip to the past was taking an unexpected turn. But the blue-haired Lord was unable to see or even feel it as she'd entered an almost comatose-like state when she stepped through the gate in order to protect her from the mind-bending experience of going years through time in what was to be to her mere seconds. Her body, though she was not aware of it, was changing as a result of Grima's curse, shifting into itself and becoming smaller and smaller. Lucina shrank further as she went further back in time.
The years rewinded themselves, and the Outrealm Gate's destination was changed as yet another of Grima's curses on the portal. Someone in an ordinary forest during Lucina's father's time, a portal opened and spat out her reduced, unconscious form. The tiny girl lay sleeping for some time before she recovered from the process of going through time.
Lucina woke up and rubbed her eyes clear with a yawn. She stretched a bit and got up, thinking only of her mission to change her fate. But then she gasped as she noticed something wrong about where she was. Instead of exiting through the Outrealm Gate of the past like she'd intended to, she'd wound up in some forest somewhere. But this forest was like no other she'd ever been in, it's trees absolutely towered over her and even the grass was massive compared to her. She felt small all of a sudden and started to shake as she came to understand what was going on and what happened to her. Somehow she'd been shrunken when she went through time! Although all her equipment was reduced along with her, including her Parallel Falchion, though she doubted how much use it could be to her at her new size.
"Could this be the fell dragon's curse?" Lucina wondered. It was not likely to her that she was meant to shrink through time. Naga wouldn't possibly do such a thing to her, would she? It had to be Grima, who laid one final trap for the girl before she escaped.
Worse yet, Lucina started to notice that she wasn't sure where she was. The tiny young woman had no clue where this forest could possibly be, not only was she far too small to get a good look at the area, but she was also in the past so even places that might've been familiar to her could be drastically different in these years.
Lucina felt a single tear escape her left eye as she started to worry with fear. She wiped it from her cheek and tried to keep a strong, determined face, but even that was a challenge. Everything had gone so wrong for her that she could hardly believe it. She was meant to go back in time to save the past and her future, not wind up only several inches tall and whisked away to a place she had no idea where it was. It wasn't even clear to the tiny girl if she'd gone back in time at this point, everything was just too big for her to make any sense of it. Lucina fell to her knees and looked sullen.
What should I do, Father..? She thought. Her memories of her father came rushing back to her suddenly. The strong man that she loved wouldn't want her to be defeated so easily, he'd probably try to cheer her on and tell her that things would be okay. And Lucina somehow knew that was true, even though she hadn't actually heard it from him yet, she could feel his spirit pushing her onward.
Lucina felt a new resolve in her heart and got up, standing strong but not exactly tall at only about 3 inches tall. She was dangerously tiny now, but she had a mission to complete, and complete it she would, no matter the set-backs she had to endure. All she really needed to do was find her father and then he'd be able to help her somehow, she'd warn him of the future events yet to take place in this timeline and then he'd help her. She wasn't sure how but she trusted him more than anyone and if anybody was going to be able to help her in her current state, it was her dear old dad.
She just had to get to him first... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
