Long ago, before the fall of the Roman Empire. There existed giant guardians who helped defend humanity against the unholy abominations called frights, that wished to wipe out the humans.
These guardians were Soul Dragons. A human was born with a connection to a dragon and was treated as a master. There existed multiple dragons across the world, most servicing rulers and generals.
The frights were soon sealed away and peace was stowed opun the earth. This didn't last long, as those with a Soul Dragon began using them for selfish reasons.
Lands were conquered, fields were burned, and resistance was crushed beneath a scaled sole.
Soon the dragons abandoned the humans refusing to be used for such selfish acts. Within centuries the dragons became a simple fable to teach children about the corruption of power.
However, in the 22nd century the frights would awaken from their seal and wreak havoc again. You were the only one could help since you were the last person to have a Soul Dragon.
