The reason for the sudden burst of flavor and juice was because the gum was made to last at least an 1 1/2 hours, mainly due to the constant complaint that gum never lasts long enough. The only problem is, there were people who complained that the gum was too juicy, which forced the company to take drastic measures. Ruby on the other hand, loved the overwhelming juiciness of the gum, to the point where she forgot to read the important warning on the package.
WARNING! DO NOT INGEST THIS GUM! MAY CAUSE DANGEROUS SIDE EFFECTS!
After nearly 10 straight minutes of Ruby sitting at the desk, chewing her new gum, she subconsciously swallowed the piece. She snapped out of her trance and let out a groan, "Aw, I was enjoying that, oh well." She got up and got up to her bunk and drifted into a light sleep.
