Her head starts floating

    by: Joe Author IconMail Icon
Sally was working on her papers overtime as her boss, Al, walks over her looking concerned. It's not the first time he has done this as he likes Sally's determination, but worries at the same time. Sally looks at her boss and brushes off her hair giggling a bit.

"Oh hey Al, how are you?" asked Sally.

"Doing fine, but what about you?" asked Al.

"I feel great." said Sally with some anxiety.

"Doesn't look like it." said Al, "One of these days you'll lose your head over work."

"I doubt it. I'm doing fine. I just can't stand anything not being done." said Sally.

The woman straighten her papers as she was about to talk to Al more. While this is happening, she did not notices that her own body left to place the papers somewhere while her head is floating in the air.

Sally said, "Thank you for your concerns, but I feel fine. In fact, I feel calm and nothingness around me."

"Uh Sally." said Al.

"I'm almost done anyways." said Sally.

"Look down." said Al.

The woman looks down and saw her lack of a body. She shrieked a bit and was glad that everybody, but Al left home. She looked scared as she looks around for her body. She caught it finishing up her work and turn in for the day as she went back to her desk. Sally saw her body just sit there as if she is waiting. Heck, Sally could not believe that she is looking at her headless body.

Al was speechless and he had to eat his own words. And then he said, "I uh, did not mean it literally."

"Oh god! How am I suppose to work now?" asked Sally as she floated by her body.

She attempts to put herself back together, but her efforts failed as she keeps slipping off her body for some reason. It's as if every movement she tries to make has her head fall off. At least she's floating.

"Huh, I did expect you to act like that when this happens." said Al.

"Do something! Please!" begged Sally as she is afraid of being stuck as a floating head.

"Maybe some tape will do." said Al.

"I don't think so." said Sally, "I'm so sorry that you have to see me like this."

"Don't worry. I'm not going to fire you because you lost your head. Though I may consider giving you a day off. Maybe until you recover. You'll still get paid nevertheless." said Al.

"And risk having this place going downhill. I don't know." said Sally as she stares at her headless body.

"I don't know, but you need to go to the doctors or find out why this happened to you." said Al who looked scared.

"I suppose. It's only one day that I will be out." said Sally, "But then again..."

"To be honest, I know you can manage work despite looking like that. I'll let you decide on what to do." said Al, "You look cute as a floating head by the way. Kind of like a balloon or something."

The manager left as Sally is stuck trying to decide what to do about her condition. She decides to...
