This choice: She's so big that she's broken right out of the building. • Go Back... "Uhh..."
Undyne stared at her surroundings, blinking in confusion.
She was outside. Alphys had a very nice lab out in the forest near the city, in the shadow of Mt. Ebott. It was quite a large building, too; they'd been lucky to score such a place from the humans.
But she knew she'd been inside the lab until ten seconds ago. Why could she see the trees?
And... why were the trees so small...?
She slowly looked down. There, she saw her shirt, jeans, and the pair of comfortable sneakers Alphys had suggested she buy a few weeks back.
More interesting, however, was everything scattered around her legs.
There was a colossal mess of what looked like broken concrete and sheets of metal in a disjointed array around her. She scanned over the sight for a few seconds before something clued her in.
It was the desk she'd just been sitting on, which was now lying on its side, one leg broken off.
The bigger problem was that the desk was about the size of two of her fingers.
Her spear had disappeared when she'd broken concentration, so if it didn't grow...
"A-Alphys-!!"
Undyne, still in a state of shock over finding herself increased to such a massive height that she must have outright destroyed the lab, began to frantically search the rubble for any sign of her girlfriend.
She found the remains of Alphys' work bench, a mangled assortment of blueprints and design sketches...
She heard the sound of a familiar cough, and looked toward the source of the noise. A yellow arm was sticking out from beneath a slab of concrete from the former roof.
"Shit-... Alphys!"
Undyne hastily pulled the fragment of concrete from the ground and tossed it aside.
Alphys was lying in a daze on one of the few untouched stretches of floor remaining. Undyne hovered a hand over her, concerned.
"Alphys?" she repeated.
Her girlfriend pushed herself to a sitting position and picked up her dropped glasses from the floor. Alphys let out a yelp of panic as Undyne suddenly took a grip on her body.
She squirmed as she was lifted from the ground to meet a yellow-coloured eye larger than her entire body.
"U-Undyne-!?" she squeaked.
"Shit, you scared me..." Undyne said, giving a relieved sigh.
"M-me-!? Look at you!!" her girlfriend replied.
She had a point. Alphys was small enough to fit into Undyne's palm.
"What happened?" Undyne asked, cradling her girlfriend carefully.
"Th-the device..." Alphys stammered, "It must've been overloaded by your magic... The energy levels spiked through the roof, a-and then..."
"So did I." Undyne said, managing a little smile.
Alphys slowly began to return to a normal breathing rate. Her lab was a pile of rubble, and her girlfriend looked to be about a third the size of Mt. Ebott. There was nothing OK about this, but she needed to stay calm.
"Th-the device-!" she exclaimed. She'd dropped it somewhere between their positions.
"Uhh... crap..." she heard Undyne mutter.
"Wh-what...?"
Undyne tilted her hand a bit, pointing to a spot on the floor. She'd moved her sneaker, revealing what little remained of the little device. A few shards of yellow metal were all that was still identifiable.
"Oh God..." Alphys said, colour draining from her face. "U-Undyne, it took me three weeks to finish that-!! Even without needing to redo the calculations, it'll...!"
"Wait, wait." Undyne stopped her. "You mean I'm stuck like this until you can rebuild it?"
"A-and I don't even have the lab, so who knows how long...!" Alphys was still panicking to herself. She only stopped once Undyne set a fingertip on her head, gently rubbing it over her scaly skin.
She looked up at her massive girlfriend's face.
Undyne was grinning. Alphys was normally happy to see that, but right now...? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
