Jessica walked to the help desk. She certainly had no idea what the device was, but considering it was still working, maybe it had some importance. Certainly, it seemed the wise thing to do was to turn it in and let Elizabeth... or whoever was supposed to deal with these things look at it.
Still, Jessica's curiosity had been piqued by the device. There was just a certain draw to it. Something she couldn't quite explain. As such, when Jessica walked past the meager electronics aisle, she pointed the mysterious device at a couple of the objects and clicked the "power button" a few times.
Predictably, nothing happened. Other than a green LED light on the device flashing for a second.
She frowned slightly as she turned the device in her hand. Why did she think that would work? It looked like a TV remote but she was quite sure that such a remote only worked on specific screen-based counterparts.
Emerging from the end of the aisle, she spotted two of her coworkers. Suki was in the process of plunging her mop in a small basin while Luke passed her by.
...What was the harm?
Jessica raised the device at Suki, and pressed the power button.
Once again, nothing.
Maybe the device was just a piece of scrap after all?
A little disappointed, Jessica continued her journey to the help desk, sparing a wave at Suki as she went.
Of course, had she been paying a bit more attention, she would have noticed that slight bump in Suki's trousers...
