"Can we please turn back? This is creeping ...

"Can we please turn back?" Laura said. "This is creeping me out."
"We can't turn back now, Laura," Steven said. He looked around slowly then placed his hands on Laura's shoulders and bent his knees until his eyes were level with hers. 'Look, you have to pull yourself together, sis." He looked around slowly. "There is no one out there but us."
Laura bounced on the balls of her feet. "Why don't you ever believe anything I say?" She exhaled loudly. "I'm telling you, there is someone out there," her gaze scanned the dark woods. "I just know it, Steven."
Steven frowned. "Come on, Laura. We must be at least halfway out of here," he said. "It's probably the same distance whether we go forward to is we turn back." He ran a hand through his dark hair. "If we keep moving in that direction," Laura followed Steven's arm as he pointed in the direction they were headed. "we're bound to find our way out of here."
Laura's shoulders sagged as she let out another long sigh.
"I just want to go home, that's all. I'm scared." Laura's voice cracked as she continued. "There's someone, or something, out there. I'm telling you."
"Then let's hurry," Steven said. "Come on." He gently turned Laura until she was once again standing in front of him. He nudged her forward and she took a tentative step. "Good, Laura, now keep going. We'll be out of here before you know it."
As they started forward again, the trees around them lit up with tiny, glowing dots of light.
