Chapter #4Off With His Head! by: ~ Aqua ~ As I lay on my silk sheets of my bed, my mind ran through the thoughts of what had happened. His wizard had gone off somewhere. Sinclair didn't even mention where he was headed or why, the poor man seemed shaken to his core.
Shaking my head, I came back to the issue I was dealing with, what to do with the noble. I had to be strategic in his every move from now on. I had to show that I was strong, executing the noble might start a war but not if I set an example for others of what is coming for them if they set down this path of bloodshed.
The next morning, I woke up earlier than expected. A servant brought a message to me, my decision will be announced in the Execution Chamber in the basement of my castle. Skipping the morning breakfast, he made his way to the Execution Chamber. Just before entering the room, he heard whispering.
"What do you think he'll do?"
"I don't know, execute him?"
"Ah, he won't do that. He doesn't has the right to the throne and yet he's the king. Killing the noble, Michael, will only decrease his allies."
"What do I care, everyone knows he's going down no matter what, it's in his bloodline."
That was it, everything was a mystery, at least about me, it was. No one told me why I was selected, what is in my bloodline, how were my parents. . . nothing.
"Greetings men, what are we talking about?" I looked at two of the guards and a noble standing with, I didn't let them know I heard their conversation just now.
"You Highness, morning. We were just talking about what a nice weather it is this morning."
The other guard squirmed and the noble fidgeted. I wonder who calls scorching sun a nice weather.
"Okay, let's get this over with, bring him here."
"Yes, Sire."
Michael was tired in chains and his appearance looked worse than it was yesterday, he had dark circles on his face, dirt smudged on his clothes, hands and feet.
"Aye, the highness is here himself, eh? So what's your decision?" He spat, his face disgusted, I think at my sight.
"You are to be executed. I will bear no misbehavior at this important time, I want everyone to know where their fealty lies and who is their King. Take him."
As the guards took him away, I had to do the second job, stop everyone else from rising against me, I turned to the noble man left, Cleven,
"Tell this to everyone, all the people, all the guards, all allies, everyone should be aware of it. Tell them I executed Michael and tell them what had happened, no lies, no secrets, expose everything. Deliver the warning that I have spies everywhere, if I see any hint of a rebellion or something like this, a misbehavior, they will have a fate worse than Michael."
